As its tagline suggests, FX is looking to remain outside the box for its next wave of projects from writer Dennis Lehane, singer Anthony Kiedis and Justified producer Graham Yost.
Amomg the projects in the News Corp.-owned cable network's development pipeline is Bunker. The project, which hails from Chernin Entertainment and Fox Television Studios, revolves around a female cop psychologist from Boston.
Novelist Lehane (Shutter Island, Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone) will write and executive produce the project alongside Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope.
The cabler is also developing Laredo, an hourlong crime drama set at the Texas/Mexico border with Flags of Our Fathers scribe William Broyles attached to executive produce. Newcomer Eric Lodal will write and EP the FX Productions and FTVS project.
In addition, FX is in development on Scar Tissue, a drama loosely based on the autobiography of the same name by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ frontman Anthony Kiedis. The drama, previously in development at HBO, comes from Catapult 360 and FX Productions.
Entourage co-executive producers Mike Benson and Marc Abrams will executive produce through their Catapult 360 shingle, alongside Kiedis, Laura Rister from Untitled Entertainment and Jason Weinberg (Enlightened). John Sayles, who penned a previous version of the drama before FX picked it up, will not continue with the project.
Finally, the network is developing The Americans, a Russian espionage drama set in the 1980s during the collapse of the Soviet Union. The project, from DreamWorks Television, centers on Russian sleepers operating in the United States.
Justified showrunner Graham Yost is on board to produce, and should Americans be picked up to series, it would mark his third drama currently on the air (others include Justified and TNT’s Falling Skies). DreamWorks TV’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey are on board to executive produce alongside Joe Weisberg (Falling Skies, Damages), who will pen the project.
