I'm a mom so I don't get to watch any live tv. Bedtimes and all that. So I watch everything on DVR or download it. And with Fringe, I work Friday nights so I don't even get home until about an hour after it finishes airing.
I download it the next day and live stream it sometimes. If i could i'd watch it on Fox and DVR it but that's the problem, there's nothing that we can do to support the show when we don't live in the US...
I would Love Love Love to watch live and help the ratings. Unfortunately I live in Nigeria so.......yeah, there's not much I can do. It sucks because Fringe is my favourite show.
Wow that was certainly quick! I figured it would be made and up maybe in a few hours. Thanks for making this poll. By the way, I try to watch live when I have control of the TV, but unfortunately that is rare lately, so I DVR it. But since I'm also glued to my laptop, and am constantly checking here and other places for a cool Fringe post or comment, I have to watch the Live stream so as not to be spoiled more so that i already spoil myself. So I chose Live stream plus DVR it for later.
Generally I DVR and then watch on Friday. I am a Supernatural fan, so I usually watch that live and then Fringe afterward. If my daughter is home we tend to watch Fringe then Supernatural, but we start Fringe late so that we can skip the commercials.
I live in the Netherlands so can't watch it {unfortunately} live so I dwnld it!!! To bad I can't support Fringe the way I wanna {by watching it live}... ♥
I tape it on my VCR. I have only 6 VHS tapes, so it's not permanent. If there is nothing else, I watch it live on the local affiliate. I only watch the online stream on CityTV later if necessary.
Download because I'm in the UK, if I was in the US I would watch it live, DVR it, watch it again on Fox.com, buy it on Itunes! All of the options to make it successful. Sadly I'm not
Watch it live... Would've said Watch Live plus DVR it, but I've never used my DVR... I mean what's the point of having a DVR when your not even allowed to tape the shows you like to watch but have to miss because Fringe is on?
It's easy, you can order one at http://www.getaprivatedeliveringstork.com/
But when the storks are too busy (it's a booming market right now), what I do with Fringe (and most of the shows I watch) is I download the iTunes versions (Web-DL) on Saturday afternoons. 1.35 GB of sharp image and crystal clear sound, with no logos and no commercials popping up at the bottom of the screen (well, FOX doesn't do that a lot, it's mostly NBC that can't help but promote their shows during one another, often with a flashy orange bar scrolling, they don't have enough commercial time apparently).
Then, I wait for subtitles (good ones, with a proper adaptation and norms, not litteral translations of every single word), which are often released on Sunday nights. Not that I need them (Fringe isn't as tricky to understand as, say, The Wire) but I prefer to watch it that way so that I don't get confused when Walter explains scientific stuff. Actually, I haven't started to watch season 4 yet, I'm storing my iTunes versions and the appropriate french subtitles in a folder entitled 'Fringe' until... well, apparently the Christmas break starts tonight after episode 4.07 so I could get started and watch all 7 episodes this weekend.
But if I really like a show, I always manage to buy the Blu-Rays at some point when they're out in France (I stopped purchasing DVDs for a while now, unless it's a rare opportunity (i.e : limited collector edition) or an old show).
And in this case, I've bought the first two seasons of Fringe on Blu-ray, 49€ went in Warner Bros. pockets on the account of me loving Fringe, so I've done my part and 'redeemed' myself for downloading the show in the first place (I maybe wouldn't have discovered it otherwise). Maybe Santa will bring season 3 over at Christmas (or maybe I'll just ask a stork, they work on Christmas, too).
People who watch the shows live, I don't know how you do for coping with 4 breaks per episode / 18 minutes of commercials in an hour. It always bugs to have one 5-minute commercial break when I watch a show on TV, I don't think I could stand 4 breaks, especially when waching a serious drama like Fringe.
As I live in Oz I download it to watch as soon as I can. But if I did live in the US I would watch it live. But since how you watch it doesn't really matter unless you have a Neilson box it is subjective.
I live in Portugal, so I can't watch it live - I couldn't either way, I'm way to loud and would probably wake everybody up at home lol. So yeah, I wake up really early on saturday morning just to download and watch it and then spend pretty much the afternoon re-watching it.
Download it. I too live in Europe, so there's not much else I can do. Though I do buy the DVD/Blu-ray box sets later when they're available. When I lived in the US I would, however, watch shows live.
Wow. From the comments here, it's amazing how many dedicated foreign Fringe fans there are. I mean already I've seen Portugal, Germany, The Netherlands, Europe, Britain, Russia, Australia, Italy, Nigeria (me) and Argentina. It sucks our live ratings are low because we have such a dedicated fan base. I would love to be able to help the show in any way. :(
Now that my dvr is fixed,i'll watch live and record at the same time so i can rewatch it.I find i always miss something the first time around. I can't begin to tell you what it was like not having my dvr record this show.Pure AGONY!
Except on rare occasions like the week Peter returned, I download Fringe on Saturday and watch it on Sunday after I finish my Supernatural recap. It makes a nice reward. I am not a Nielsen viewer, so how I watch doesn't matter.
i save it until i have about 3 episodes to watch and then catchup! the anticipation is FABULOUS!!!! Until you get to the finale when I am always champing at the bit like everyone else!
As I live in Ireland, I download it when its available which usually about 30 minutes after it finishes in States, usually about 3.30am Irish time. I usually stream Finales though
Yep, I usually watch Supernatural first too. Although it's become more of a debate since Peter came back (the week after he showed back up I watched Fringe first and then watched Supernatural on my DVR right afterwards). Now I watch the commercials and read the plots and agonize over which to watch first.
It sucks not having a Nielson box though huh? I wish that they would come up with a separate category for people who actually wanted one, were passionate about TV, and understood what ratings meant. God I would suck it up and actually watch commercials if it made a difference having one and affecting the shows I love.
The only thing i can think of is you could always write to Fox Broadcasting network. You could also look for Fringe websites and see if they have petitions you could sign, and get your friends and family to do the same. I think Fox,the writers and producers of Fringe would really appreciate hearing how much you like this show, and how much it means to you to have your voice heard. :D
Same, but I don't even wait until next day. Usually I find it a few minutes after it ends in the US, download it and see it right away. For fringe is bad enough to have to wait one week between episodes, so the wait that I can avoid, I will!
Andy; Thanks for giving us this poll.I know Fringe is seen world wide but to be able to read everyone's response and where they actually come from is something else. What a great way it is knowing just how well liked Fringe is by all. :)
Obviously, from all previous Comments FRINGE is extremely popular outside US. so if FOX cancels the Show I Hope that J.J. Abrams Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinker and the rest of the FRINGE team will Make this genius Sci-fi series into a movie with the same cast. That way, outside US viewers will hit the Theaters Big Time! Make FRINGE into a Movie plz!!!
Same for Portuguese fans! It seems to me that the whole world wants to see Fringe but only the Americans count! That's sad and it's going to end Fringe :(
I'm from Argentina, so the only way i can watch it is downloading it on saturday. Or wait like 2 months to watch it "live" in the Warner Channel... but i can't never wait that long so... The good thing is that i don't have to watch the comercials!! It's 42 min straight of Fringe!! :D
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteLive plus DVR so I can rewatch a lot. Last week it was a solid 10 rewatches. Yeah.
ReplyDeleteA stork is dropping off a tape of the show in my chimney every Saturday morning.
ReplyDeleteExactly, im from argentina so i cant do anything
ReplyDeleteSame here! it doesnt matter if you follow it in your country simple there is no way to support this amazing show for us who are not in the US
ReplyDeleteI tend to watch it live on FOX, but i don't have a Nielson box, so it doesn't really help.:(
ReplyDeleteI usually watch Supernatural first, so that I can watch Fringe with no commercials, because I can't handle commercials. O_O
ReplyDelete:O
ReplyDeleteI want a stork!
I would Love Love Love to watch live and help the ratings. Unfortunately I live in Nigeria so.......yeah, there's not much I can do. It sucks because Fringe is my favourite show.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could watch it live, but as I live in Europe that is not possible. It is an awesome show and I don´t understand the bad ratings.
ReplyDeleteWow that was certainly quick! I figured it would be made and up maybe in a few hours. Thanks for making this poll. I'm from Russia and I love this show very much! But the only way to watch it here is to download torrent.
ReplyDeleteI'm Brazilian, so I download it and watch on live stream.
ReplyDeleteI tape it on my VCR. I have only 6 VHS tapes, so it's not permanent.
ReplyDeleteIf there is nothing else, I watch it live on the local affiliate.

ReplyDeleteOnline the next morning. Every Saturday. Same with every american show I watch.
ReplyDeleteI watch Live so I can talk about the episode when it is over.
ReplyDeleteI used to just download for the next day but with all the treats of cancellation I've been watching live on FOX for the last few weeks!
ReplyDeleteWatch it live... Would've said Watch Live plus DVR it, but I've never used my DVR... I mean what's the point of having a DVR when your not even allowed to tape the shows you like to watch but have to miss because Fringe is on?

ReplyDeleteOther: Hulu when I get around to it (which means I'm always at least a week behind).

ReplyDeletePlus one for NZ - we get everything about 18 months late!
ReplyDeletePlus one in Hong Kong
ReplyDeleteI'll usually alternate between Fringe/SPN on which to watch livestream, and then I'll download/watch the other online somewhere.
ReplyDeleteis there a way for NON nielson person to help the ratings ???
ReplyDeletei do the same thing with other shows some people did too.

ReplyDeleteYes, please! If this show ends with no answers it would be too bad:(
ReplyDeleteI am in India, so, the only way I can watch it is to download it the next day. I hope everyone who lives in America watches it live.
ReplyDeleteWow. I think I know why Fringe has such low ratings - everyone that watches the show lives outside of the US!
ReplyDeleteA FRINGE movie is actually a pretty cool idea :)
ReplyDeleteI'm from Argentina, so the only way i can watch it is downloading it on saturday.
ReplyDeleteOr wait like 2 months to watch it "live" in the Warner Channel... but i can't never wait that long so...
