Amy (Laura Dern) goes off to work, leaving Helen (Diane Ladd) alone with her thoughts and memories, including those of her late husband, Jim (G. Russell Reynolds). At the grocery store, Helen runs into Carol (Barbara Barrie), an old friend whose husband used to work with Jim, and endures the prerequisite pictures of children and grandkids. Later, Levi (Luke Wilson) stops by to drop off a photo album – and ends up venting about Helen’s role in his breakup with Amy.

After Levi goes ballistic in the middle of the night, Amy convinces him to follow in her footsteps and get treatment at Open Air. At work, a reinvigorated Amy talks Damon (Charles Esten) into letting her present her research findings to his group, but Dougie (Timm Sharp), who no longer talks to Amy without a “witness,” won’t let her leave the office. Amy makes her presentation anyway and pays the price, both with Damon’s team and with Dougie. Bristling but still battling, Amy turns to Tyler (Mike White) for the key to forcing change, finally, at Abaddonn.
Written by Mike White; directed by Miguel Arteta.
