In Friday’s action-packed episode of Supernatural, a possessed Castiel got swallowed up by some black hole/hellmouth hybrid, leaving behind nothing but a soggy trench coat. Sam, Dean and Bobby were quick to pronounce their buddy DOA, and now, so is executive producer Sera Gamble.
In the following Q&A, Supe‘s fearless leader confirms that Cas is in fact dead, but she also hints that viewers have not seen the last of his portrayer, fan favorite Misha Collins.

Interesting interview. And Misha/Cas is so coming back! He's not dead.
ReplyDeletevery interesting interview and I don't doubt that maybe Castiel in the physical sense might be dead but hey it's Supernatural and noone really actually stays dead (except for monsters, etc).
ReplyDeleteI can say that for the first time in about two years, I am looking forward to seeing whatever role Misha will play if it is as Castiel or a new being. I'm excited for the possibilities.
CAS! Now, I'm kind of pissed. If that was how they send off Cas, I'm gonna be pissed. That being said, I still don't believe that Cas is actually dead. Maybe I'm just in the denial stage of grieving, but if Jimmy dissolved and that killed Cas, then how is Misha still involved?
ReplyDeleteThis is sad news, but I know that in Supernatural, death doesn't mean anything.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if Cas is truly dead, I won't feel to annoyed by his send off. I love Misha and am thrilled to know that he will stay. portraying another character. Cas was a loved character by me and many others, but I, for one, will always watch Supernatural for Sam and Dean :)
Okay, so the Levii can shapeshift,so it's quite possible that Jimmy's body became stew and that if Misha reaapears it would be as a morphed Leviathan, just to mess up with Dean n' Sam.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, Cas being dead (or his he? Is Sera super coy?) actually means nothing. everyone has died in this show, I mean, EVERYONE. So it doesn't wights much. Is Cas coming back? that's the question.
And finally, part of which got me hooked to SPN was Castiel, I was a late comer (S3) and it was in a great deal Castiel and Misha that sealed the deal for me in season 4. Now that he is gone, I don't know. It's not going to be the same show for me, i'll always feel like something is missing from now on.
Ze pain, oh ze pain!
I don't understand why people are so mad at the writers. So what if Cas is "dead". They will find a way to bring him back sooner or later. Besides, SPN is a story about family, and sometimes family members die, you know. We're supposed to freak out and feel hurt and miss our favorite angel. The writers aren't stupid, they know exactly what they're doing.
ReplyDeleteCas died a virgin? Dean vowed that would never happen on his watch. I'm going to miss the nerd angel. I'm happy to hear we haven't lost Misha yet, but Misha/Leviathan doesn't equal Castiel. I liked the quality that Cas added to the scenes. It wasn't about his power or Heaven's storyline. He became part of the family and I became invested in his storyline. This can't be how it all ends. :(
ReplyDeleteRegardless of what happened onscreen or what's been said, they kept the coat. I think that speaks volumes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Castiel goes back to the French Mistake time and saves Misha before he gets killed and asks for his body. Who knows.
ReplyDeleteSame here. Supernatural has always been Sam and Dean.
ReplyDeleteSo Cas really is dead. Part of me is sad, and part of me wants to say yay... I really, really hope they don't bring him back. For once, let a character stay dead, please. Cas has already been brought back twice, which is more than enough.
ReplyDeleteCas can't be dead. He just can't be.
ReplyDeleteAt this moment, I'm thinking Castiel will come back as the Leviathans' boss at first, and when (not if, when) he's defeated Cas will be back!
ReplyDeleteGood news and bad news in this. I cannot believe that after killing off all the angels we know (Cas is another story) they are still going to pull angels into the story line from time to time. I am so freaking sick of the angels! I am curious of how they are bringing Misha back if his vessel has exploded.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree :)
ReplyDeleteDahne, I so agree with you-- I feel like they're beating a dead horse with the ongoing angel storyline!
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious and excited to see how they do bring Misha back
Well, if they bring Cas back, we're probably going to see other angels as well. I want him back, but I don't want them to go back to the "war in heaven" storyline. Hopefully it'll be just one or two episodes explaining how and why Cas is alive or in Heaven (or where ever he is the next time we see him).
ReplyDeleteIf Cas is brought back to life, I suspect he'd be on the angels' most wanted list after his killing spree as God. This might be angels looking for Cas and starting their search with the Winchesters.
ReplyDeleteI don't disagree with you--while I don't mind Cas and all I really am over the whole heaven thing. The new concept this season sounds very interesting.
ReplyDeleteAnna got her vessel back somehow. If they do bring angels back into the story then get on with the balls out armageddon of an actual war in heaven and be done with it. Then bring angels in like the Crossroads Demon. Different one, different task, once in a while visit. Maybe connected to one of the new characters being introduced. Who knows?
ReplyDeleteIf Castiel is brought back, I would laugh a million times over if his force/soul/whatever ends up in a woman's body. In fact, that's the only way I'd welcome the character back onto the show. It'd be worth it to see fandom's reaction to it.
