Its LOGAN!!! :) Oh, I didn't realize how much did I miss him until now, watching this video....sadly, I am sure this teacher is not gonna be the sarcastic auto-destructive pain in the ass that was Logan Echolls. Miss him, its good to see Jason again, though!
Personally the only creepy thing I saw in the tease was the hair barrette Juliet was wearing... Wow Ugly.
It's hard for me to recall a drama in a school setting that did not have a schoolgirl crush on a teacher..
They aren't exactly uncommon, hell I knew 3 girls that had crushes on teachers and actually acted on them. Then again... two led to jail time and one led to marriage. XD
Agreed. Teacher/ student relationships or crushes on TV are too common to be freaked out by unless it gets particularly creepy in some unique manner. I did not see anything like that from JD in that scene.
I think he will add a lot to the series. I'm glad it will give Juliet more of a role than just bratty over-privileged daughter and hopefully JD will enter Bridget's life as well as Juliet's life.
Glad Dohring is back on TV. However, any teacher-student romance is a deal breaker for me. They have quite enough strings to pull in this show. No need to add statutory rape in the mix.
I'm a teacher. So yes, the idea of statutory rape of a student being glorified on TV makes me sick in ways that murder and even torture do not. Although I'm always happy to avoid the torture too.
I see what you're saying but, from what I've seen, this show doesn't glorify much of anything. It may show these things, but I don't see how Ringer glorifies any of them. This show is all about negatives and the down side of things.
Lying, drug use, criminal activity, lecherous behavior, etc.; Ringer seems quite good at showing the consequences and/or the fallout of all these things. Nobody seems especially happy or carefree with the awful choices they make on this show.
In regards to a potential teacher / student relationship, I can't see Ringer painting these two as star-crossed lovers like some sappy teen drama would. It's more likely that it will all go horribly wrong, as it should.
I find them disturbing on a whole new level: they're one of the absolute worst devices for storytelling ever created. The second season of Life Unexpected was completely ruined for me because she had a crush on her teacher...

EEE can't wait! Love Jason. And eww at a possible Juliet/teacher romance.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Can't wait. Loved him in both Veronica Mars and Moonlight. Not sure what I feel about the possible romance between him and Juliet though...
ReplyDeleteIt's just gross. I hope that if it happens, Andrew and Bridget find out and immediately put a stop to it.
ReplyDeleteNo...And I had decided not to watch Ringer. Now I'm torn all over again..
ReplyDeleteI gotta admit that I have never seen Veronica Mars, but I loved Jason on Moonlight, and I'm super excited to have him on Ringer!

ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm leanig towards gross too, but since it's TV it'll probably happen and it'll probably take a while before anyone finds out.
ReplyDeleteI hold my opinion on student/teacher romance until I see this episode..but I'm already liking this scene..

Logan Echolls is a teacher.Now I'm shocked.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to watch the whole episode!
ReplyDeleteIntriguing. Maybe Juliet confuses his kindness for interest.
ReplyDeleteyeah, he didn't look like the type to fool around .. and maybe it'll be a one-sided crush!
ReplyDeleteexactly, I hope his character have enough influence on Juliette to make her grow up ..

ReplyDeleteNice to see him back on TV.
ReplyDeleteLoved the scene. As for a possible techer/student romance, I believe it to be on overdone trope, so all I have to say about that is:
ReplyDelete*crosses fingers*one sided crush onesided crush onesided crush*uncrosses fingers*
Well that's my hope anyway.
So, murder, torture, druggings, and (possible) domestic violence are a-okay, but potential illicit sex is out of bounds? I don't get your point.

ReplyDeleteAgreed about LUX. It didn't ruin the season for me (the cancellation did that) but that entire story was handled quite poorly.
