I wasn't even planning on watching Homeland. Shows about conspiracies are usually not exactly my favourite stuff. But I recently made a WWII mini series re-watch and enjoyewd Lewis on Band of Brothers so much that I thought I'll give this a shot and I wasn't disappointed.
Some things were pretty obvious. There simply had to be something wrong with Lewis' character, otherwise you couldn't even do a single season. I was also pretty sure that it was him who beat the other captive to death. Nevertheless it was a really well done pilot. Introduced the characters (and their flaws/problems) in a great way, the acting is really good, there are some mysteries set up. Looking forward to more!
Feels like Manchurian Candidate meets Coming Home. I totally agree with everybody else, one of the best, if not the best premiere this season. I'm completely fascinated by this show top to bottom. Claire Danes and Damian Lewis.... love them to bits. One year after Rubicon got the axe, we're lucky enough to get this show. ::knock on wood::
I liked it. Claire Danes is really great playing an overzealous, paranoid mess. Her character is kinda fascinating already. All the acting on the show was well done. I did find it hard to watch all the scenes between Sgt. Brody and his wife. They're all so terribly uncomfortable and cringe-inducing. That bedroom scene was excruciating. I say all of this in the most complimentary way, of course. This is in no way a complaint.
I loved it. The performances. The writing. The idea that the "villain" is a victim....and is he? Engrossing. I need to go and change my vote on the favorite new series poll.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
With most of the Fall TV season's premieres completely, Homeland stood out for me as top of the class!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant writing, acting and directing. Frankly no new series even comes close....
