  1. Much better than last week's though the Alicia/Will storyline is already boring. I was actually hoping they would bring in Celeste Serrano as a recurring character like David Lee and Julius Cain to spice things up on occasion.

If they're developing Cary as an out and out villain they're doing a really good job but if they're trying to make him into someone like Peter whom you love then hate depending on the episode, they're not writing it very well. After him being so whiny for a full season after Alicia beat him there's only two ways to go with him and they really haven't tried to redeem him at all. If that's the case it's probably better if they drop him as a regular and make him recurring instead.

I did like seeing Eli back to being supporting though. He's better as a supporting character than when he gets full storylines like last episode.

  2. Here's my thoughts:

    1) This season has been outstanding in my opinion. They've finally got her away from Peter and now they're literally giving us a "what is going on?" thing between Will and Alicia. She just wants to leave things unsaid but I think Will's going to become more than just infatuated with her (hence the accidental "I Love You") and he's being reminded of his past in a way that might have him consider what he wants out of his future.

    2) I'm enjoying Alicia this season as someone who's doing her own thing so to speak, but I think we're in a limbo sort of place for her character now, and I think they need to show that she's not just becoming more aggressive/manipulative, etc. and have her still show how good of a person she is, because there's a lot of slimy characters on this show and if they write her character too aloof of one-dimensional regarding her relation with Will's character, she'll be no better than the slimy people that are all over the place.

    3) Speaking of Slimy, it looks like Diane has finally decided that she's done with the winning cases just to win, and the good of the firm's prospects, and actually wants to get back into helping people. I'm glad that Will said yes to her plea for approval as well. I think Celeste has had an effect on Will that's deepening his thoughts and feelings about his job, and Alicia, along with whatever else he values. Either he's realizing that Celeste still lives in a world he used to and is glad to be rid of it, or she's pulling him back into that mentality that he once had. I think the poker room scene shows us that it is the former.

    4) Celeste: I like her sort've as a plot device, I like that she's supposed to be against Will and Alicia, etc. and of course I LOVE Lisa Edelstein, but her character is written so heavy-handed and needy, and mostly slimy, that I just can't like this woman. I think there are 2 main reasons: 1) the writing for this character isn't very strong. It's decent at times but overall I find her ineffective in proving her points, and kinda creepy. 2) That might be the point! What if she's just supposed to be so unappealing to Will because of what they went through in the past that he'd rather not live through again? Something about "not knowing when you're conning or being conned"...I think Lisa Edelstein adds a lot to this character too, because she does her best to be so...unappealing, and smarmy. I was sort've hoping for snarky but endearing, but they're taking the character another direction--much like Martha Plimpton's and Michael J. Fox's characters: they're all about trying to get one of the people from Lockhart-Gardner (MJFox) or they act like they're interested in teaming up only to use LG to meet their own informative needs (M Plimpton) and they'll periodically pop in and out but never stay in the show. I guess we'll see won't we?

    5) The casting for every character on this show is just incredible. The AUSA agent sent to buddy-up with Cary this episode was a scene stealer. She worked the room in whatever scene she was in, and did a lot with a very small role. I'm sure we're going to see a few twists involving her character on the way. She reminds me of Aniki Noni Rose's character last season in "Cleaning House"...just out of no where, this huge presence thrown in to mess up the balance even more! (Also, Aniki Noni Rose is coming back this season!)

Overall, I'm so impressed with this show. I hope they can keep up the quality of the story like they have so far.

  4. I feel bad for Will. Alicia came across as "let's not label this and just enjoy ourselves." He on the other hand comes across as pretty much falling in love right now. It's suprisingly sweet.

But I don't like how they're developing Cary into a straight up obnoxious evil genius.

And as someone else said, I don't like the scooby-doo-like feel to it where they happen to stumble upon something that ultimately solves the case in the firm's favor.

But other than that I love it.

  5. Loved it, but I saw that end coming from the beginning. I'm surprised the prosecutors didn't question their witness more thoroughly, or check into his background. And uh, Will secretly desires to be a....BASEBALL COMMISSIONER, really? Because baseball is his true love? First I'm hearing about this, but maybe I missed it.
