  1. Are we not going to get the episode table results anymore? I don't think it was made for ep1.

  2. So good!!!! Be sure to subscribe to the FrngeCast Podcast at http://www.DVMPE.com

  3. I'm impressed. This cast has serious skill. I'm so glad that Alt!Broyles is back. I don't have to feel bad for his son anymore.

Also, Scarlie marrying bug lady made my night. Hopefully we get to see him again soon.

  4. Not much movement on the myth arc at all.. interesting, but nothing special. They seem to be hammering the point home that meeting one person can change your life... and then forgetting them can change it again. Okay, we know all of that. We see every character changed from forgetting Peter. It just seems redundant to me.

It was fun to see Olivia and Fauxlivia together. How Olivia's intuition was more important than even Asptrid's number crunching prowess. Oh, I absolutely loved when Fauxlivia was asking Olivia about her step-dad and got an answer she did not expect... Priceless. Maybe Fauxlivia does not know Olivia as well as she thinks? XD

It was fun to see Lincoln showing off his own intuition over there.... much like OurLee did last week.

I was a little sad Scarlie was off with Mrs. buglady and we didn't get to see him.

The MOTW was not very interesting to me despite me loving serial killer non-fiction and fiction. The heavy-handed ramming home of the theme that not meeting one person in your past will change your present and future completely was completley unneeded to me. Everyone knew going into this season that would be the theme and we all saw it last week in our Fringe team. Too obvious and too direct.

Very mixed episode for me I guess. I guess it is one of the rare just "OK" episodes for me.

I really fear with this reset switched while Peter does not exist we are going back to the Season 1 Fringe formula of one MOTW after the next. That is Fringe at its weakest and not nearly as interesting as Season three was with its heavy serialized element.

  5. Too bad there wasn't an Epic choice in this poll because this episode was epic, especially the last heart wrenching scene with Walter. I knew he would be the one to begin to remember Peter.

  6. I loved the wedding announcement! XD

  7. it was good, but what im having trouble with is that these aren't the characters that we know and have grown to love over the past three and third seasons, the expect to throw us into this new verse with new versions of them and just fall in love with them. Yeah its great charlie married bug girl, but we don't know this charlie or this bug girl it just idk wasn't really right the lack of investment in this version of the charcters and what they're doing with the storyline, just yeah not really working. I miss the blue/red verse. and our bluevers peter and blueverse liv

  8. I have a friend who works in Norristown, PA and he texted me and said "OMFG Fringe division is in Norristown" lol.

Other than that, I loved it, I love Fringe, lets have 10 seasons!

  9. After this episode AltLivia will think twice before mocking Olivia again. That "I killed him"... was awesome! Olivia BAMF!

    ReplyDelete
  10. The major things that occurred in this episode were mere differences in the past: Alt Broyles being alive, Olivia actually killed her stepfather, along with a slew of other things. In last week's episode it seemed for a moment that Olivia hadn't gone through the cortexiphan trials, but this episode she recalled a license plate number easily.

The guest actor who played the serial killer was terrific. Very emotional, very well-acted. The scenes with both Olivias, the parts with Olivia on the other side while with the other team were great. It'd be nice to have both of the Lincolns meet next. Meanwhile, Walter's connection with Peter grows.

I thought overall it was a brilliant and sort've tragic episode.

I'd agree they're being heavy handed on the "important people leave an imprint" thing, but that doesn't upset me. Nor does it upset me that this was a generally MOTW episode. They've got to fill 22 episodes here, and they don't actually have a looming threat like an upcoming war between worlds, so I'd rather them show us the fleshed out version of these worlds now and develop the storyline as it is intended.

  11. OMG last week's FRINGE made it into THE SOUP!
    :D
Where Astrid asks the woman about her anus!

    ReplyDelete
  12. another memorable actor from X-Files. John Pyper-Ferguson.

Really impressed the fact that the men's lives paralleled until that moment in their childhood.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Agreed on everything you said... and yet I just don't feel as positively about the episode I guess.

Usually the myth arc starts and ends a season and it had not dawned on me that when they  showed the differences between the "now" and the "then" of this universe that they would almost be FORCED into doing MOTW episodes. Without Peter existing they can't really have myth arc episodes... at least not direct narratives. They will need to do a number of MOTW while touching on missing people, missing something and missing Peter.

I really like the interaction between Blue and Red.. wait! We are Orange, Citrine or Amber now... so what are they 'over there'? I digress.... I loved the alternates all playing together, the differences with Broyles alive and step-daddy dead by Olivia's hand, and I actually enjoy the different characters compared to the first 3 seasons. I just did not enjoy the this particular MOTW this week I guess.  Usually MOTW episodes center on the fringe-tech that is used in the episode - the means of the serial killer in this case. Him wanting to experience happy emotions. Had they gone into more of what Over There's serial killer was doing it would have been more interesting to me I think.

    ReplyDelete
  14. After my second viewing my opinion has changed a fair amount. I noticed a few things I missed the first time around with friends over. I still did not enjoy the actual case itself, but more about the why and how interested me.

Killer McClennans wants to feel better, but he does not take his victims emotions as much as their happy memories.

Maybe the reason that TPTB did not go into the "how" of the serial killer so much was that they did not want to foreshadow too much. If the serial killer was basically able to see memories that could certainly come into play with Peter.

Similar tech or maybe they're just playing on and repeating the "emotion = power" references in past seasons. If Walter or Olivia were to remember an extremely powerfully happy (or sad) memory, could it link to one of their "past life" memories of Peter?

I also noticed was that the connection between  the 2 John McClennans" had a tube that was blue with orange wires, Coincidence? I think not.

  15. Fantastic episode

  16. There hasn't been an episode table since May 7th, maybe he'll get around to doing them sometime. I enjoy the episode table. http://www.spoilertv.com/search/label/Episode%20Tables

  17. This epi was so awesome! I cannot wait to see where the writers take us next week! Bring it on FOX! Bring it on!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Where are they continuing to get all these story ideas!  They are so tightly written.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I LOVED it!It was much better than the premiere IMO!
    Anna Torv was excellent!
The only downfall was the fact that we didn't get to see much of Walter...I feel sorry for him seeing him like this! It's painful since having seen everything his mind is capable of achieving!
I really hope we get to see more of Peter in the next episode

    ReplyDelete
  20. Orange is leaving its mark every where this season! Even the sedative the Professor drank was orangy :)

BTW, I actually loved the episode Darque.  Totally fun and I thought having a "real" or realistic MOTW was some what of an interesting twist.

Yes, the mythology was light but if you really think about the episode it was to establish a few things.  The premiere established how "here" is now and this episode established how "there" is now.  All the while confirming Peter is still there, they are still the same but slightly different.

At the end of the day it seemed to me the goal of the episode was to show some balance between both worlds, but the key line being at the end with Broyles telling Olivia that...some people when they are gone that they leave an imprint on our soul.

The promo also got me excited for next week!

    ReplyDelete
  21. What an episode! Seriously blown away by that.  John Pyper-Ferguson was superb, I loved how it explored the difference and similairities between the characters.

Also all the little nuggets of info, Charlie marrying Bug lady! Alt Liv still being with Frank (and Alt Linc still clearly crushing on her) Broyles still being alive!

Walter calling Lincoln Kennedy hahaha I bet Astrid is relived she isn't the only one with a nickname.

Yeah just so much to enjoy from that episode I need to watch again

    ReplyDelete
  22. Scenes like when Walter came out of the tank (ep. 1) or when he  startled at the loud speakers are totaly disappointing if you saw the promo before.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Has anyone noticed that it was being said that Olivia was kidnapped by the Alt Universe? Seems a little bit inaccurate, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  24. She was kidnapped. What do you normally call being taken against your will and locked up in a cell when you did no crime?  Sorry if that sounded a bit catty.

My question is: Why was she over there anyway? Unless you were suggesting that they meant she was kidnapped from over here, swapped out, then taken over there. If that's the case then yeah inaccurate as far as we knew it to be...but perhaps not so in this new timeline.

I'm starving for an answer to how and why the TWOniverses got at odds, to begin with in this timeline, seeing as how Olivia's Mr right doesn't exist.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thought that it was just awesome. Plain awesome... brilliant, untouchable, genius... nothing more to add.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Episode that delivered what it was expected to :)
John Pyper-Ferguson was brilliant in his role, and I absolutely adored the scene where he talk to Olivia after discovering he is in another universe.
I found the interaction between Olivia and Altlivia to be quite entertaining. Although, the more we go in the season, the more I am getting annoyed by Altlivia's cockiness... Damn...

One thing that bugged me because it was quite unexpected was the conversation Olivia and Astrid had at the very beginning of the episode, about Lincoln being a potential love interest for Olivia. I was like "Whaaaaaa? Am I still watching Fringe??"
But then, when I looked again at the conversation, I pick up one or two things:
    - first like many of you said, Astrid mentioned Olivia's Mr Perfect might not exist... mmh... Hello reference to Peter!
    - second, Olivia said: "I have second thoughts like I always do, he would get hurt, and it would then be awkward at work"...
Am I the only one to think this refers to John and how in the blue-verse he has not been entirely trustful with Olivia leading her to doubt their relationship? Would it be possible for this mixed feeling to have creeped in this orange-verse, leading to what Olivia described?

Maybe I am reading too much in it :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I was also happy to hear about them. But since Kirk Acevedo stars at another TV series, I guess we'll only see him for a few episodes this season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Loved it. It was just like Dexter.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ha i live in Norrsitown and we did the same thing. Whoever gotta tell you alternate Earth Norristown MUCh nicer than the real thing;) LOL

  30. Epicness times 3

Where is the epic button on your poll?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with what your saying,it is a little heavy handed. However I know from personal experience, how making what seemed at the time a minor Choice. Can change the course of things. One Friday night a number of years ago I was heading for another town for a few beer at the bar. I'll never know for certain why,but I decided to say the hell with it and turned around for home. To make the long story short. This innocent change of plans would effect the course of history for several people. It would bring four adults together and end up with 2 marriages. For myself I now have one Son and a young grandson. If I'd continued with my original plan of having a few beer and staying at a friends place near the bar had happened. How would things be now?I have no idea. Very minor compared to Peter's choice in Fringe but sure hits home with me.

  32. Enjoyed but was expecting an Observer episode given the title!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I saw the observer! At the end of the episode. :P
But yes, I was also expecting it to be an actual Observer episode too.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah... Bolivia just couldn`t believe it. The way she was looking at Olivia in the car after Liv said that :-D. That was just briliant

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's almost a pity that he is on Prime Suspect. Otherwise they could have brought him back as a regular in both universes. Charlie has always been my fav character on the show (although I like the Olivia from over there a lot too).

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm proud to say I spotted him too in the first viewing no less. That never happens to me. I usually have to wait until STV or another blogger post up some screen caps before I spot him. Bravo to us!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ha, I love that I´m not the only one that still sees the numbers everywhere. :-) lost was the best!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Good episode. I miss happy Walter though. He is not as envolved in the cases as I would like him to be.
I like seeing Lincoln more, that is a big plus.
Not as good as last week.....but it´s Fringe...always awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I've been wondering that too. Without Peter, Walter had no reason to go Over There and the barrier between the two universes would not be crumbling like in the past seasons.

Not to mention my biggest conundrums....
If Peter did not exist, how is there a bridge room now?
Since there is a bridge room the machine had to be powered, but who powered it?
Why is Over There still in need of ambering Fringe events if Walter never went over to steal Peter in the first place?

    Then like you wondered...
If there is no Peter-napping, why do they dislike one another so much?

    Episode related question...
If there are still events large enough to amber what looks to be a city block or more, why is it a small case involving 23 victims is a big enough event to even get the two sides working together? It seems contrived to me.

I like the alternates working together quite a bit honestly... but on a small case involving one serial killer? It seems odd to me.

    ReplyDelete
  40. HE was actually in 3 cuts in the episode... usually you get once glimpse and it cuts away and he is gone.
This time you could see him over Broyles' shoulder, Olivia's shoulder and behind them both... He seemed to want to be noticed this week! XD

    ReplyDelete
  41. Aside from being a convenient narrative device to parallel the Peter/No Peter situation the only other thing I can think of as to why The Fringe division got involved in this case is because of the strange way that the victims were killed. The Brain-Porting. Maybe that raised a red flag to bring in the Fringe Division. But why they needed Over here to help? Maybe because Over There the FBI (known to be a serial killer's biggest threat) was disbanded, so maybe they saw the value in using Over-Here's FBI peppered Fringe Division for some expertise.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ah maybe that is why I caught him, it was much less subliminal.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I loved it!! The interactions between the two Olivias was perfect, the case was beautiful, and that last scene with Walter so scared to turn off the lights and the subsequent panic attack was flawless. Amazing, truly amazing episode!

    ReplyDelete
  44. where did you see that? i mus've missed it or sth :D

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well we did n't see the wedding announcement stationary or anything... I meant I loved hearing about Scarlie marrying bug lady.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It was a beautiful episode. The premise was interesting and the final minutes almost made me tear up.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I loved it! AltLivia, Lincoln and Olivia working together.. Did i really need to say more?

    ReplyDelete
  48. If Walter only knew Peter was calling out for him!

    ReplyDelete
  49. If the worst comes to pass, and the show is canceled, maybe they can continue it as a comic series.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I totally hear what you're saying, but, and this is only my opinion, I think you're every so slightly off the mark with what they're trying to accomplish here. They want us to feel the absence of Peter, and its effects, so that the payoff when he "returns" will be that much more meaningful. Granted, this absence can be annoying or exciting depending on how you enjoy the storylines.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Absolutely killer! (pun intended) Also reminded me of Olivia saying that the man with the "X" on his shirt is the man who "kills her." Still wondering about that one...

    ReplyDelete
  52. That last thing you said I kind of agree with. And I think the reason is because they have the cooperation of the universes going on, and that is a heady subject in and of itself, so the question for the writers was how to balance the MOTW/tech and the myth arc.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Do you think Olivia's freakishly good memory was because of the cortexiphan trials? I thought that was one of her natural gifts. Hard to determine I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  54. "If the serial killer was basically able to see memories that were not his it could certainly come into play with Walter and Olivia remembering Peter."

That is a very good point!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Exactly...WHAT was the incident that caused the ripple that caused the degradation of both universes? If it wasn't Walter bringing Alt!Peter to OurVerse then what was it? Hopefully we will find that out.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I agree with every question you asked. I couldn't have worded it better myself. I hope that TPTB will address these issues.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Nothing much to say. I simply LOVED the epi, much more than last week. Really liked the interactions between all the characters. This time the little differences between the timelines were made in a more funny way, yeah strangely enough this epi amused me a lot :) Walter's "Kennedy", Astrid reference to Peter in her "ever thought your type didn't exist" dialogue, Scarlie married bug girl, Faux's reaction to Olivia admitting she killed her step father as if it was nothing, etc. were all nice funny touches that the premiere didn't have that made this epi more enjoyable to me. The premiere was a little morose...
This epi was not really myth oriented apart from the obvious theme of how an event or a person in your life can have a huge impact that you can't quite measure (in reference to Peter) but it didn't bother me. We only saw two epis so them giving more details about that new timeline while gradually making Peter's presence more noticeable to Walter is fine with me ...

    ReplyDelete
  58. The only thing I can think of is that Peter the grown up never existed but Peter the child did exist in both universes. Walter still kidnapped Peter from Over There, but was unable to save him and he died.

It solves some of the issues...
-There still would be degradation between universes since Water crossed over.
-Walter vs Walternate would still be in play.

    It does not solve others....
-Peter the adult exists on some level, somewhere. We heard him.
-Who would have created the Bridge Room if Peter never grew up.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I agree that MOTW is a step back for Fringe, but I gotta say I respect the writers of this show too much to think its anything other than a vehicle for getting the next level in place.

Plus, so far - for a show now infamous for its subtlety and head-messing - the whole thing about "Wah my life sucks without that special someone" seems to be such a crazy, dramatically stupidly over-the-top mis-direct. No-one else getting this vibe? Its the 'Hey look, a $100 bill on the floor... in the middle of a circle with an X....wait..." tingle.

    ReplyDelete
  60. When the Observers were talking in the S3 final moments they said about how "They" can never know the boy became the man... plus the Observers have also talked about how its all er, September's fault for distracting Walternate at that crucial moment, and that they've been trying to course-correct the damage ever since; this together says to me that that is the point when the bridge retroactively does X (whatever it is that its doing).

My key conclusion about the other questions lies in the name Bridge - its a joining, but does not remove the obstacle. I think the machine is still doing whatever, and its unstable enough that wobbles (like ghost-Peter) can happen. The fact that its still keeping the universes joined means that Peter must still exist somehow to power it.

A couple more guesses - if this is now the Amberverse, then it may link to the state of the Amber victims: legally dead, but actually revivable (a true blending would've made purple, the opposite of this yellowish tone); the common understanding (implied by conversations) is that the Machine made the Bridge, sort of by accident, and no power source irregularities.

Qs: Where is Nina? And Brandon? - Massive Dynamic was based on Bell stealing tech... Did Olivia still become Bell? When is Astrid going to meet someone? Are the Fringe events still occurring in 'Red', or were the rifts not closed? Are we ever going to find out why 'Water' and 'Hope' were in the title sequence?

    ReplyDelete
  61. So why did he keep saying Walter, and not Dad? For once?

    ReplyDelete
  62. As i recall Peter address his farther as Walter many times, especially in season one and
two.I believe he only referred to his farther as Dad,later in the third season, and only a few times.Thats how i remember it,but maybe i'm going see-nile. :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I totally agree withy you! I also miss the original timeline - I miss our original liv, our original Peter
our original Walter .....I love them and the interactions between them (ofcourse our amazing Polivia) and I hope that we come back to the original timeline and that it come to pass sometime during 4 season - I want them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope this new verse is used only to show us what the lifes of our heros would be like without Peter and ones he comes back we return to our original timeline! It is good to know that I´m not the only one who can´t fall in love with the new versions of the characters and I think it would be horrible if we stay in this new timeline for the rest of the series....

    ReplyDelete
  64. yeah i got that but where did you hear that? in the episode ? :D

    ReplyDelete
  65. Loved this episode. The interaction between the two Olivia's was brilliant and Anna Torv was sensational as always. I liked that Alt-livia's assumption that she knew and understood Olivia was challenged by her finding out that Olivia was abused as a child. Also interesting to hear that Olivia actually killed her step-father in this timeline - I guess if Peter died as a child then Walter's intervention in Subject 13 never happened and the situation at home was worse for Olivia.
Only downside was the little we saw of Walter but I think that will be made up for next episode - otherwise I loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  66. So now Anna Torv has played Olivia, Bolivia, Olivia brainwashed as Bolivia, Bolivia pretending to be Olivia, Olivia possed by William Bell, Orange Olivia and Orange Bolivia- phew! She could do a one man show at this point!

    ReplyDelete
  67. AltLincoln alludes to Charlie being on the beach with bug lady oh excuse me MRS. Bug Lady.. meaning she's now married and they are on their honeymoon..

    ReplyDelete
  68. "If Peter did not exist, how is there a bridge room now?"
I think Walter attempted to explain why there is a bridge when he was ranting about not trusting the other side.. he said they turned on their machine thinking it would destroy us.. and Astrid? says but it didn't, it created the bridge and he says yes, but they thought it would kill us, they're vile and i don't trust them (paraphrased of course)
It's the bridge scene from the season finale without Peter.. to them the bridge room created itself when both sides turned on their machines.. one minute they are each in the room w/ a machine then blur and they are all in the same room.. the bridge room..

    ReplyDelete
  69. Good catch... but how did they power it?

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't think even they know yet... Walter mentions Altlivia's mission over here was to steal a piece for their machine..  in the new timeline, no one was needed to power it.. no one they remember anyways..

It's similar to Event Horizon.. they wish to forget the machine and they do.. they don't have to come up with what really happened under the sea to the crew, their brain will naturally piece it together to make sense.. smooth over the tough to understand parts for you.

    ReplyDelete
  71. haha! There is also Orange Bolivia pretending to be Orange Olivia!
Jeez... there is enough to become schizophrenic!!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Excellent episode.  This is exactly the kind of episode I was hoping for when the universes were bridged together.  More like this one, please.

    ReplyDelete
  73. okay, thanks for clearing that up. i must've missed it :D

    ReplyDelete
  74. I think this a great idea! --It is interesting that they haven't mentioned much about it...

The only thing I caught last week was that "it was lucky that when they turned it on it didn't explode" --so even though you could still be right --they could know "something", but the specifics are suppressed collectively, It may be that they were able to turn it on another way ---something that may lead us down another path in revealing Peter's/The machines origins from other timelines prior to both of these...
