It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Episode 7.04 - Sweet Dee Gets Audited - Advance Review

I'm cutting this one close, folks! Only a short time until the new episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but I had more going on this week than I realized, so my apologies! Anyway, the gang (Sweet Dee in particular) is in some deep trouble this time folks! What starts off as a generally derogatory and hysterical episode quickly turns into probably the darkest and most profane episode in the series--While I'm not 100% sure about that, they literally say at some point in the episode that their scheme is probably the worst thing they've ever done. This one's a doozy that ends really badly, and reminds me of why I'm glad they haven't invented smell-o-vision yet.

In short, Dee has successfully scammed the government through the birth of her son, (remember last season when she got preggers?) claiming him as a dependent while obviously her son doesn't live with her since she gave it away. So, she has to deal with an IRS representative and has to provide proof that her little bundle of joy actually exists. Meanwhile, in the pub, the boys have all ganged up on Frank, saying that none of the money they chip in for maintenance of the pub is actually being used for the pub. They demand to get in on the accounting process as well as the decision-making that goes into where the money is used. Everything from toilet rocks to Jesus Christ himself is brought into the mix, and what unfolds into a blatant (and hilarious!) mockery of the United Nations, collides with Dee's baby woes in a truly disturbing way that left me possibly a little more weirded out than usual.

This definitely goes down as another way-over-the-line episode, however, the points made for the uselessness of the U.N. and the first 15 minutes of the episode are utterly hysterical. The nasty surprise at the end was a mixed bag for me, at first I laughed but then I groaned. Then I questioned what the props department for this show had to do to get that effect.

I give this episode THREE AND A HALF STOLEN BABIES OUT OF FIVE.
