Damages - Season 5 - Ryan Phillippe to star

Oct 14, 2011

Season 1 had Zeljko Ivanek, Noah Bean and Ted Danson.
Season 2 had Timothy Olyphant, Marcia Gray Harden and William Hurt.
Season 3 had Martin Short, Campbell Scott and Lily Tomlin.
Season 4 had John Goodman, Chris Messina and Dylan Baker.

Season 5 will have Ryan Phillippe, who starred in I Know What You Did Last Summer, Cruel Intentions, Crash, Breach and the fantastic Flag of our Fathers. More recently, we've seen him opposite to Matthew McConaughey in The Lincoln Lawyer.

The 37-year-old actor will star alongside Glenn Close and Rose Byrne in a role Michael Ausiello couldn't get much information about, except that it will be a Julian Assange-like character (the guy who created WikiLeaks) who comes to Ellen for help. Season 5 of Damages (10 episodes) will probably be the final season and will premiere in July 2012.

  1. Thanks, awesome news! Very unpredictable casting but I have to say I like it. He gave a good performance on "The Lincoln Lawyer" (that's really all I'm going by). Sucks we have to wait until July again. I hope at least "Breaking Bad" returns a bit earlier as a courtesy, given they're probably going to split the final 16 installments into two seasons.

  2. Well I'm not quite sure Phillipe is in the same league as Ivanek, Danson, Olyphant, Harden, Hurt, Short, Scott, Tomlin or Goodman....

Actually after writing it and seeing it in print I am quite sure he is NOT in their league (he may not be playing the same sport even), but it's a good chance for him to show he can handle serious heavy drama....
