Awkward - Season 1 - Review

I spent a lot of time in the summer hearing about the standout and surprise of the season that is Awkward. The show with the period in its title that made even mentioning it in print (or online, rather) a little awkward to write out. But the promos (and perhaps more importantly, the promotional photos) said little about how the show actually was. It just seemed like a standard MTV show made to shock you, riddled with clichés and obvious storylines.
That's not exactly untrue. I tuned into Awkward. halfway through the season and decided not to review each and every episode because of it. I went back and saw the show from the beginning, and yes, much of this isn't exactly original, and there would be nothing I could pinpoint that would be. So I didn't review each and every episode. Instead, I drafted up a post with the top three reasons everyone should watch. I self-proclaimed the show Summer's Best Hidden Gem. However, nor is that true. Not the gem part, but the "best hidden" part. Awkward. was in a lot of places, actually, but not nearly enough.
Summer 2011 was a season full of the usual — True Blood, and America's Got Talent, and Pitbull's annoying "Tonight" that only accomplished being so because it was played ad nauseam. But this little show made summer viewing a pleasure.

i enjoy this show (:
ReplyDeleteIt was a surprise. Funny, really funny! I used to laugh hard and people just used to shut me up! I was annoying with my laughter, but it blamed it on Awkward. Good show
