Hey Guys,
Yesterdays Supernatural-Winchester battle passed by without any real drama, which was pleasing. It also saw Dean Winchester easily beat his brother to take his place in the last eight, where he will face Daenerys Targaryen of Game of Thrones who managed to beat Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl
After the excitement of the Dean/Sam battle has died down, we turn our attention to the second half of the last 16, with two big titular characters Richard Castle & Greg House taking on each other in a tough battle, as well as Elena Gilbert of The Vampire Diaries taking on Kurt Hummel of Glee. Four characters from four different big current shows should make today exciting. Lets find out...

For anyone new to the competition the rules are simple. Every day there will be a new set of polls between characters who are bidding to become the winner of the second STV Character Competition.
All you have to do is to vote for whichever characters are your favourite and at the end of the 24 hours whichever character has more votes will be the winner and will progress into the next round. There are three rounds before the quarter finals, semi finals and then the final...

ReplyDeleteIt's funny, I'm not a big police procedural fan at all...
ReplyDeleteI have never got into the CSI's, Castle, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Bones etc etc...
The closest I got was The Mentalist, yet I stopped for no reason other than I just for some reason never sat down to continue it after S2... Hawaii 5-0 I thought was okay too, but only watched a couple of episodes...
Yet I love House & ER, so maybe I'm more a medical man :P
In general though, I like the twists to stories, like LOST, Fringe (the mysteries) 24 (the real time concept)
Then besides that, it all about great writing and fun scenarios (The West Wing, Studio 60, Californication)
But the normal procedural just never did it for me...

ReplyDeleteHouse and Kurt. House is pretty lame now, but when it was at its best, I liked it more than Castle. Castle/Fillion are excellent though. Kurt is a pretty great and unique character, while Elena, though kind of cool, is no where near as groundbreaking.

ReplyDeleteI'm gonna go with Castle (watching right now!) and as for the second poll I'm not sure... maybe Kurt. Although I'm seriously not sure who I like more, for me it's: TVD > Glee, but Elena's not my favorite in TVD and Kurt's high on my list when it comes to Glee.

ReplyDeleteIt is a shame that Katherine Pierce couldn't proceed to the next level while Elena, her "dull as dishwater doppelganger" is looking good for the next round.
Katherine is a far more intriguing character with her many layers: disillusioned young girl, distanced mother, betrayed lover, on-the-run vampire, mistress of manipulation, always pushing people's buttons with ease and playing them like the fiddle. And she was able to stay away from Klaus's clutches for nearly 500 years, no easy feat seeing as Klaus is an Original with a myriad of witches in his entourage.
But still, it's a competition and only one will remain standing at the end though I would have loved to see Katherine around longer.
Easy one today......Castle and Elena for me!

ReplyDeleteNot really emotionally invested in the matches today although I do love the show Castle. The first match is very simple. There's only 1 or 2 characters in the entire 64 that would have me voting House and most likely I'd just abstain. If I had to work with House, I would drink bleach. The last thing I want to do at night is watch someone who reminds me of my own bad previous bosses. I like Castle, although he tends to be my least favorite of the recurring characters. I do love his relationship with Alexis and his mom though and he often brings the fun, whether needed or not is debatable. Castle it is.
ReplyDeleteThe second match is tough because I would rather click a neither button. I give Elena credit in that she is no Bela from Twilight. She has a brain and uses it, unless it has to do with her family or Stefan or Damon or her friends... She has guts for sure. However, Elena was one of the reasons why I did not watch season 2. Her love triangle annoyed me to no end and her choices, although made for the right reasons, screamed Bad Move! As for Kurt, he was one of 2 reasons why I stopped watching Glee except for the singing and Sue parts. While I understand that his character has social importance, I found him alternating with Rachel as the most annoying character. Since I can't think of an episode where Kurt didn't annoy me with his melodramatic ways, I'm going with Elena.
I think the Glee kid you like is Brittney. She's the most tolerable because she flaunts her stupid in a funny way instead of the melodramatic look at me way of most of the others. I think Katherine had a worse placement than Elena. If the places were switched it's likely they would have an opposite result. Or maybe more people like love triangles on SpoilerTV than I thought.
ReplyDeleteCastle was my biggest surprise this summer. I started watching it because it was recommended but in all honesty, I didn't expect much beyond the standard police procedural that I could take or leave. To my surprise I thoroughly enjoyed it and continued to watch all available episodes so that i would be caught up for this season. Alexis first grabbed my attention as a teen wiser than her years and then Martha made me laugh. At first I didn't care at all for Castle, but soon his self-deprecating humor won me over. It's now one of my favorite shows. I'd recommend trying it.
ReplyDeleteYou can choose to vote in one match but not the other. Many people do that when they don't know or care about either character. Your vote will still count in the match that you vote in.

ReplyDeleteI completely agree. I don't mind Elena too much because her stupid tendencies are a source of entertainment for me, but I don't understand how she can be doing better than Katherine in this competition. Unlike Elena, Katherine is a well-developed highly entertaining character...
