The 2011 STV Character Competition - R3 - Day 25 - Katherine Pierce (Vampire Diaries) vs. Peter Bishop (Fringe) & Castiel (Supernatural) vs. Kate Beckett (Castle)

Oct 2, 2011

Hey Guys,

Round 3 begins, but it does so without Barney Stinson and Walter Bishop, who both fell to Olivia Dunham and Chuck Bass respectively. As a result, it is clear of the dominance of characters who are still currently active on television, with 15 of the 16 characters remaining all still in active TV shows. The dominance of Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries is clear with three characters remaining each, as well as Fringe, Gossip Girl and Castle all still have two characters remaining. It's about to get tough though, as some of the shows begin to square up against each other...

Today we have The Vampire Diaries' Katherine Pierce taking on Fringe's Peter Bishop for a place in the final eight, as well as Supernatural's Castiel challenging Castle's Kate Beckett. Whilst Castiel will be tough to beat, it will be interesting to see whether Fringe or The Vampire Diaries can pull off a win. And don't discount Kate Beckett just yet...

Currently leading the prediction competition is TheSpoilerGirl, who is on 53 points ahead of Amber English one point behind. To see your score head HERE

For anyone new to the competition the rules are simple. Every day there will be a new set of polls between characters who are bidding to become the winner of the second STV Character Competition.

All you have to do is to vote for whichever characters are your favourite and at the end of the 24 hours whichever character has more votes will be the winner and will progress into the next round. There are three rounds before the quarter finals, semi finals and then the final...

Don't forget to tweet, facebook, google+ and spread the word about the characters and shows you love to try and boost your chances of winning.

All that is left to say, is let the battles commence...

  4. Well,I don't watch Fringe and I don't like Katherine,so I'm not touching the first one.

Cas all the way in the second!

side note --- i think its high time i start watching Fringe! :p

  9. I thought Castiel was an easy win, but it looks like he's losing. I'm surprised.

  10. Peter and Castiel for me

  11. Peter Bishop & Kate Beckett

  12. Peter and Cas for me, though my bracket was somewhat devastated by Walter Bishop losing to Chuck Bass, I can't believe that happened!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Peter, even so I do enjoy Katherine`s character on TVD  ! Second poll was easy ;) Castiel without a doubt ! But tomorrows poll is teaching me the meaning of fear already ...

  14. Peter Peter Peter!!!!

  15. Peter and Cas for me!

After that S7 premiere, it only proved more to me how awesome Cas is, he will always be part of the Winchester family!

    ReplyDelete
  16. The man who never existed and Beckett for me!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I can't believe it either! Walter is so funny and brilliant... Chuck is just good looking.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Easy choices...Peter Bishop and Castiel.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Katherine and Kate.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I must say in Chuck defense that he's a great character! not better than Walter (I voted for him) but not only a good looking guy... :P

    ReplyDelete
  21. Castiel, always Castiel. Best character in existence.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Cas & Katherine, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Peter Bishop and Castiel.  Not a problem here.  Although I watch Vampire Diaries and have not watched Fringe as of yet, I'm sure I'll get around to i, I do not like Nina Dobrev as an actress, nor do I like the characters she portrays.  Castiel was an extremely easy one for me.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Peter Bishop. I'm sorry Walter didn't win,he's a great actor and deserves better.

    ReplyDelete
  25. This one was easy for me: Peter and Castiel.

    ReplyDelete
  26. easy for me today, i've never seen fringe or castle
while katherine is not my fave character in the vampire diaries, she is still a great character, being so devious, evil and selfish
castiel on the other hand, i love!!! he is so awesome that i think the only character i would ever vote for over him would be the winchester brothers!!! while the changes the angels brought to supernatural these past few seasons may not have made for the best stories and seasons we've seen, i've still loved cas the whole way thorugh, right up until his supposed 'last' minute
    supernatural FTW!

    ReplyDelete
  27. not just cas but how truly great misha is as well!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. oh, i can't even bring myself to look at my bracket anymore, it's just too awful.
i don't know what i was thinking when i made it but my choices were soooo off!!
i didn't pick cas or chuck bass to make it through round one (although i am exceptionally happy that i got cas wrong).

    ReplyDelete
  29. Peter!! I can not believe that Walter lost. Let´s hope that Peter makes it through.

  30. Peter Bishop is one of my favorite characters left in this contest.  (Round 2 knocked out a lot of people I would have voted for.)  For me, the first thing that drew me into Fringe was the rocky relationship between Peter and Walter and how that relationship grew over time.  It's the heart of Fringe to me.

As for the second poll, that is much, much harder.  Castiel has been very important to Supernatural and Misha Collins is fabulous, but I feel this character has stayed too long in the show or more to the point that angels have stayed too long.  Still, I loved LeviaCas.  Kate Beckett isn't my favorite character in Castle but she is very close.  She is sharp-witted, good under pressure, but unlike most cop characters, she isn't afraid to let her emotions show either.  Well, at least to the audience.  I find that of all the female cop roles, she is by far my favorite - outdoing Bones and even Lily from Cold Case, who was my previous favorite.  I guess I vote Kate because Cas won't need my votes at all.  And yes, I realize that this will kick me out of the Supernatural club.  :-P

  31. If you like Supernatural, it's a fair bet that you will like Fringe as well.  The first season of Fringe is similar to the first season of Supernatural in that it is mostly stand alone cases.  The second season gets more into the mytharc as did Supernatural.  By season three, Fringe is almost exclusively about the mytharc.

    ReplyDelete
  32. My bracket died the day Buffy left the contest.  With Walter leaving, it has been kicked down a fire escape and stomped on.  Such a shame because I love both of those characters.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Peter Bishop (but I love Katherine as well) and Castiel for me!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Peter and Castiel, even if I did loathe what the show did to Cas I still have happy memories of S4 & S5

    ReplyDelete
  35. Peter and Beckett. I think I'll end up last place.

    ReplyDelete
  36. What?!?I haven't felt so betrayed since The Man Who Would Be King aired....Kicking someone while he's down(or while he's being possessed by the oldest monster and presumed dead).
    Shame on you,Dahne!   :-p

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ha!  Anyone who thinks Cas is actually dead has not seen Supernatural before.  My bet is he's the big boss and we'll see him right before the winter break.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love Peter...but she is Katherine Pierce.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Seriously,I can't believe that some people are furious because they think he's dead.
You're right,it's a very, very strong possibility that he's the big boss. But I think that he'll appear around episodes 7-9(episode 7 is called "All In The Family",could be this one) and then in the mid season finale they'll show that Cas isn't really dead, but trapped.

    ReplyDelete
  40.  That makes two of us then:-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Easy votes for me - Peter and Cas.  I don't care for Katherine.  Kate is a good character, but not a serious enough contender to make me vote against Cas.

    ReplyDelete
  42. man, with all the Supernatural fans in this website, Kate won't stand a chance. However, my vote goes to her. one of my most fav characters of all time.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Glad to know I won't be alone.  :-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. If there is anything Supernatural is good at, it's the death scene.  Probably because they have had so much practice.  Did anyone feel like that was Cas' death scene?  If so, I'm shocked.  When/If Cas dies, it will much grander and will pack a much bigger wallop.  They just need to keep Cas' fate under wraps for awhile until the big "reveal" that he is still kicking.  The big question will be whether he is still LeviaCas or Castiel.

Just pointing that there is a little mistake in the tag : we're not in 2010 anymore ;)

(Fringe and Castiel for me, even if I'm sad to not be able to support Beckett, I really like her, but Castiel is just one of the best characters of the History of EVER)

    ReplyDelete
  46.  They're repeating the Crowley death scene in season 6.

Pretending to have killed him off, just to resuscitate him at the appropriate moment.
    It's actually a little anti-climatic as it's so predictable.

When the episode arrives his name will not be included in the credits and everything will be kept hush- hush. Heard it all before, blah blah blah!

It would have been a bigger surprise if he had been really killed off now!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Let's vote Peter back into existence.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Katherine Pierce

    ReplyDelete
  49. Katherine Beckett & Peter Bishop all the way

    ReplyDelete
  50. Peter for me (I'm not watching Fringe, but I'm more voting against VD) and for Cas cause he's Cas :) <3 <3

    ReplyDelete
  51. Peter Bishop & Castiel. Easy. (Although, I do love Katherine and Kate, but--It's definitely those two for me.)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I know they don't have a chance but I had to go with the ladies today!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. What is it with Cas and votes?!?!He's in the three most voted polls in the competition..I'm impressed!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I miss Peter Bishop SO MUCH!!!  never watched SPN so I voted for Kate Beckett.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm sorry girls, I have been told that Katherine is awesome and all, but it's Peter Bishop whome we are talking about, and for me, Castiel is automaticallt always the winner. (except with Dean)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Cas vrs Kate . . .really?! What is it with all my fave girls going against my fave (supernatural) boys? but Cas it is . . .

    ReplyDelete
  57. Peter on the easy side, and Castiel on the tougher side for me.

    ReplyDelete
  58. If you are a big Fringe fan, you might want to try Supernatural.  I know many people who love both.  Both series have a similar pattern and both have relationships that cement the story while throwing in the gross and mysterious to make them genre shows.

    Absolutely Castiel

    ReplyDelete
  60. Katherine and Castiel, although I've got a hunch that Castiel will beat everyone on his way to the finals, deducing from Most Voted in Polls..

    ReplyDelete
  61. That poll is already at 4000 votes, and it hasn't even been up for 12 hours yet.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Peter and Beckett!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Katherine and Beckett, but also i voted on Peter to.

    ReplyDelete
  64. The Supernatural fandom is very dedicated!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Peter Bishop and Castiel (even though I am only 1/2 way through Season 1 of Supernatural)!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I had to vote for Kate. I am so sorry Cas. I'll write some fluffy fanfics to make it up to you. But I have to support the lovely leading lady from the 12th.

    ReplyDelete
  67. He has more votes alone than the entire most voted poll! That's just great!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yes,we are!I'm very proud!  : )

  69. CAS 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000%

  70. While I am not surprised that Castiel is winning by a grand margin, I am absolutely shocked by how many votes he has.  I guess people are really responding to the last episode.

    ReplyDelete
  71. So glad you are giving Supernatural a try.  I would love to hear your views on it so far.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm now thinking what would've happened if it was Beckett against other character!!  1,615 votes are a lot!! Beckett could've won!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I've never seen The Vampire Diaries or Fringe, so I'm not voting in the first poll. Second one is too easy. Cas, obviously!

    ReplyDelete
  74. i'm voting for kate beckett.. but i know it's not likely she'll win :(

    ReplyDelete
  75. So far, the first season is very reminiscent of The X-Files, which I love.  There were a couple of episodes that I literally fell asleep during, but overall it's pretty good and is a lot creepier than I expected.  I love the banter and relationship between Sam and Dean.  I'm looking forward to see what they do in season 2!  My cousins got me into it and tell me that it only gets better after the first season.

    ReplyDelete
  76. In my opinion the second half of season 1 gets better and better and then the second season is my top favorite, with every episode being just so interesting that I couldn't stop watching. In seasons 3 to 6 there are really brilliant episodes and some that are not so good, but for me, the episode arcs were never so good as the one in season 2. Well, season seven does look really good so far, though. I wish you lots of fun ahead with the Winchesters!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Supernatural fans seem to be largely split as to whether season 2 or season 4 is the best.  It really depends on if you like the huge twist in season 4.  For me, I think you will love season 2.  I personally loved season 1 but it had it hits and misses.  For the record, I would suggest you miss Bugs and Route 666, two of the worst Supernatural episodes even now.  However, the Scarecrow-Asylum-Faith trifecta was brilliant.  I also maintain that the season finale of 1 was one of the most gripping season finales I've ever seen although that might be because I waited 4 lifetimes to see how it was resolved.

Season 1 is by far the scariest although every season has it's horror gem, but like you said the relationship between the  Winchester brothers is the cement that holds the whole show together.  It's what first drew me into their saga and what keeps me going even now.  I am so glad that your cousins talked you into trying the show.  We love hearing what newcomers think so I hope you share your opinions often.

PS - Before the writer's strike, season 3 is almost pitch perfect after you get past the lackluster season premiere.

  78. Peter Bishop and Kate Beckett. Even if all the characters have forgotten about Peter, I never will :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Peter & CASSSSSSSSSSS...

Although I was extremely upset with the last ep, I could o something for Cas at least by winning this poll. Then I will never stop believing Cas will come back :(

    ReplyDelete
  80. Katherine and Castiel all the way

    ReplyDelete
  81. Peter and Kate for me, no doubt about that!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I second to all of what you're saying.. Mishaaa <3

    ReplyDelete
  83. Agree, Castiel and all his Characters : Jimmy Novak, Future Cas, God Cas, LeviaCas,  all of that is superb.. truly one of the best character in the TV history EVER.. :)
