Gillian Anderson is ready to reprise her iconic role as Dana Scully in a third X Files film.
Speaking after the world premiere in Sydney of Universal’s Johnny English Reborn, in which she plays the head of fictional MI7 opposite Rowan Atkinson, Anderson said that there is definite talk of X Files 3.
“I hope it will happen, there’s talk of it,” she told Australian breakfast TV program Sunrise.
“I don’t know who’s writing it but I hear there’s something going on,” she said.
And she indicated that there could be more life in the franchise, saying she wants to do a film spoof of the hit Fox TV series.
“I’ve always wanted to do a spoof of the X Files as a film,” she said.
“We talked about that for a long time but maybe after three features we could get to do a spoof feature.”

Come on already, and greenlight this, Fox! I need it in my life so bad.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there are words for how much I want more X-Files. I think now is a good time for it too with all the money sci-fi has been making at the box office in recent years.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good time also because the release date MUST BE the 22nd December of 2012.
ReplyDeleteSpoof Feature, not sure I like the sounds of these words. Would like to see a movie of the X files tho...wonder if Mulder will be up for it.
ReplyDeleteShe said she wants to do a spoof feature after the third movie.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I am that bothered, they ruined the TV show and the last movie was horrible.
ReplyDeleteIf the whole cast did a spoof of The X-Files actually sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what to think about this, as the movies have never live up to the TV series and the second one was terrible. Could be good if they have good writer and director
ReplyDeleteOMG i would LOVE a spoof feature of the x-files!!!!! plus, david duchovny has a great comic side, he'd be great!
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't mean much--she clearly doesn't know what, if anything, is happening. If we hear nothing from the studio by the end of this year, a film release in 2012 seems unlikely. As to releasing it on 12/21/12 (since the Mayan Apocalypse is on a Saturday)--that's a week after The Hobbit comes out. On 12/12, the current releases scheduled include Hunter-Killer, Life of Pi, and World War Z. An X-Files movie would be lucky to premiere in fifth place on that date.
ReplyDeleteReboot the whole franchise, with new talent, on both sides of the camera. Nothing else could possibly work. Duchovny & Anderson were great in the roles back in the 90's, but they've never had any box office drawing power, and their chemistry is long-dead. We need a Mulder and Scully for the 21st Century, Fox.
I'm only in favor of another film to make up for how awful the last one was.
ReplyDeleteThe second movie flopped, it was pretty bad. if they do a third one, they better center it around the aliens and mulder and Scully's son. That would be cool if they were reunited with him

ReplyDeleteFingers crossed - I think X-Files, like Star Trek, will be some kind of immortal. There will be an XF3, but when!
Also, there was a spoof: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0251075/ Evolution, which DD was in, but not Gillian.
A brilliant idea! Finding William - that'd take half a movie. Plus I want know what he can do. And if there are others.... OH!!! Need an X-Files hit now!
ReplyDeleteAlready have them--Peter Bishop and Olivia Dunham.
ReplyDeleteI was as big a fan of the X-Files as anyone. It was my first appointment TV show and got me into online fandom. However, they've kicked this horse as much as they can. The show went downhill towards the end, the second movie was awful, and I am firmly convinced Chris Carter couldn't find and explain "the truth" if it handed him its resume and GPS tracker. Let's stop killing The X-Files' legacy because we want to shake a few more coins out of it or grab another 10 seconds in the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteAnd this time bring Robert Patrick too, at least for a cameo
