    I need to see an HQ version of it before I judge I guess. With the glare and perspective distortion it looks like a chalk drawing almost.
    What is it with vampire series and fruit this year? True Blood kicks off with some ridiculous light fruit and now Vampire Diaries has these posters.....

    I think I will like it once I see a better version of it. Seems to have the seasonal arc in it's design and has the 3 leads... so that's always a plus....

    Actually, I would love a poster of the entire cast.  Not just a publicity shot either...one that evokes the other major stories (Jeremy's and Caroline's as well)

     I hate the promotion for this show. It's all with the three, and when they include someone else it's freaking Klaus, not Caroline, Matt Tyler or Bonnie? Pffft

    Is that a reflection on glass or an artistic image of the poster? cant tell ... my eyes need to be checked in any case! but nothing will stop me now ... b/c its TVD in less than a week!! aaaah!! =D

    Lol, I was going to say that it really looks like a painting, a cross between something really realistic (like Bougereau) and something really impressionistic (Monet).

    I was going to put Impressionist in my comment too (XD) but I couldn't decide if I felt the poster was more Impressionist or Post-Impressionist like Cezanne.

    Either way when we see it in HQ I'm sure all thoughts of the great masters will be lost.... Ha!

    Guys, I know the picture quality is not good,but click on it to enlarge, and look what you'll see: Damon's head is lying in Elena's lap; Damon's left hand is over his heart and Elena's left hand is covering it; Elena's rifgt hand is holding bloody fruit; Damon's right hand is holding a bloody knife pointed toward the ground (the knife Elena used to cut open Klaus' bloody birthday cake?)  ( see the S3 promo video on vampire-diaries.net); Stefan is way behind Elena and his hands are bloody; Klaus is close to Stefan, seemingly whispering in his ear; and the expressions on all their faces are  what I can only call blank.  They're in a pretty setting with flowers, fruits and trees, but my overall impression is that this picture is very creepy and other-worldly.  This picture, and the video promo, make we wonder where S3 is going - to a very darker place, perhaps.

    The fruit in the posters has seemed almost erotic.  Now I have only watched the pilot of True Blood.  It wasn't erotic, the sex scenes I saw were almost porn.  I haven't seen their fruit pictures.  Maybe it's the way the fruit is poised, but it gave me the idea of Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit.  One was bitten into, if I remember the picture correctly.  It gave me the idea that some major things regarding good and evil would come to a head this season.

    YEp. I saw the promo vid and thought this poster was almost a still life of the video.

    I assume Klaus' whisperings will be the driving force behind 'Ripper' Stefan this season and of course draw Damon and Elena closer together. 

    Although personally  I don't find that dark so much as interesting since Stefan is kinda an annoying white knight usually. It will be nice to see his darker side!

    I thought of the forbidden fruit thing too when I saw the individual shots. I just don't feel it so much....

    Food and blood have nothing to do with eroticism for me personally, but I do see your point. I think ignorance before biting the fruit does somewhat fit with their relative "peaceful" happiness prior to knowing about the Originals.

    Well to be honest I think they do use some sort of "paint brush" photshop tweak to the photo ... but that glare and sistortion really amplify the paint brush tweak!

    You can see the "brush strokes" in the HQ pics I will post above.

    At this point, I'm just peeved that TVD still isn't using the other season regulars in their main promo material.  Bonnie,Caroline, and Jeremy have been around since the beginning yet they're still overlooked while Klaus is given the royal treatment.

    Liked your reply and agree with it. And, although I didn't say it in my post, dark is fine with me and it WILL be interestring to see Stefan in touch with his "darker side". We know it was always there but he supprerssed it.  Remember  when Elena asked Damon about Stefan after he started craving human blood?  Elena said, "Stefan's not like you!"  And Damon replied, "Well, he doesn't want to be like me.  That doesn't mean that deep down inside him, he isn't."  Now we're going to see the proof of that, and I look forward to it, and to Elena and Damon's frienship deepening.

    I really don't have a problem with it assuming that they will release a photo shoot of the majority of the cast like previous years too.

    I mean Elena, Damon and Stefen should be front and center if not alone on the main poster each season.... and if they put in the big bad of the season it fits as a promotional tool in my eyes.

    Then again I like Peter, Walter and Oliva alone in Fringe posters... I don't need to see Broyles, Astrid or Nina, or Chuck and Sarah without Casey, Morgan or the Awesomes in Chuck posters etc. I guess I'm pro series leads and anti-secondary characters.

    That said, it is nice to have promo material for everyone....

    It has an odd eroticism to it.  I don't usually look at food and blood as erotic.  There was just something about the way the entire picture was laid out..  Too me it looked as if the vampires had not bitten.  It looked more like only Elena had done so.

    I have said so several times.  I have no problem with a promo of the main stars of the show.  My problem is they are calling it a cast photo.  That's a little odd.  I assumed there was a larger cast.
