Lol everyone's hating on the fruits. I kinda like them :) It's artistic. It could be like no matter what these guys do there is always going to be blood involved or something like that.
I also wondered, what's with the fruits, so I did a little research on the internet. In Celtic mythology, the apple is a symbol of immortality (Damon). To the ancient Chinese, the pear was also a symbol of immortality (Klaus). In the Near East, the pomegranate was a symbol of fertility; in Christian art, the pomegranate is a symbol of immortality, rebirth and renewal (Elena). I'm not sure what Stefan is holding, but it might be a whole pomegranate - immortality for him too. Obviously there is a theme here of immortality and maybe that's what Kevin and Julie had in mind. Just speculating!
OK, thanks. I checked the internet again. I couldn't find anything about nectarines -they're kind of a "new" fruit, aren't they? But in Gothic and Renaissance painting, peaches symbolized virtue and honor. I can see that for Stefan; although he's not going to be very virtuous and honorable for part of Season 3, I think he will be again when all is said and done this season.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Still not fan of these... What's with the fruits?
ReplyDeleteThanks for these. I think that the artwork is great even though I don't get why the fruit motif

ReplyDeleteThis is exactly why you were taught as a kid to wash your fruit before you eat it.
ReplyDeleteI pulled it up close and Stefan's looks like a peach or nectarine. I just double checked and yeah, that's kind of what it looks like.
