In season six of Supernatural, Sera Gamble took over as showrunner and kept the Impala under a tarp for a few key moments in the show's re-introduction. In season seven of The CW series, she starts with the Impala garaged in a similar manner. After being flipped over and half-crushed in the season six finale, Dean (Jensen Ackles) has a lot of work on his hands to get his baby back up and running again. He basically has to rebuild the car completely in order to make it "as good as mint." You might think this is an odd, nit-picky piece of minutia to focus on when such larger issues are at hand-- you know, like Castiel (Misha Collins) being God now and ultimately being on the opposite side of things from the boys. But in truth, the Impala's state can be seen as a metaphor once again. This time, though, for the way in which Dean will have to build himself back up after he unravels a bit this season.

Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteBut this is something we already know. Seems to me like a certain showrunner is trying to make sure that certain fans watch the show by talking about Dean. The only problem is fans already know he will be fixing the car so why waste a interview talking about the one thing we do know he will be doing?
ReplyDeleteBut this is just my opinion.
So the season's gonna pick up right where we left off, and then time-jump again? Interesting...The Impala's gonna be fine :P . It was smashed worse in the S1 finale.
ReplyDeleteEgyptian Gods, Alona Tal...Ep 4 is gonna be awesome!
So we know now about two very Dean centric episodes and what sounds like a very heavy Dean angst arc for the first half of the season. I wonder if they have anything more in store for Sam other than him having a few hallucination for a couple of episodes? Cant wait to find out since we actually now know more spoilers about Dean than we do Sam-funny that?!
ReplyDeleteLove the news! Can't wait for new season. And I'd really wanna see Jo&Dean new scenes already;)
ReplyDeletethat car is very important for him both have rough path but they raice with power and determination and with some good new looks yeeeeeeessss perfect combination.
ReplyDeleteIt still won't me enough to appease the rabid Dean-drones... er, fans. If it were up to them Sam wouldn't be in the show at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Dean's story this year (cue Dean-girls screaming "WHAT STORY?!) a hell of a lot more than last seasons domesticated Dean that was boring boring boring.
It will be nice to see Sam's story this season after he spent half of last season as Not!Sam. As far as I'm concerned, Sam was only in the second half of the season.
I hear that. Dean's story better compensate big-time for that whole Lisa & Ben drama crap.
ReplyDeleteI love you SpoilerTV but I'm not reading this or the comments. I'm just NOT. At all. None of it. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
ReplyDeleteHa lol
ReplyDeleteI am cautiously excited about this interview. If it truly means that Dean is able to shrug off some of the guilt he has been dealing with then I am all for it. I like Sera. I think she's done a great job. This is not a criticism of her. However, I think the show as a whole, from Kripke's time through current times, has gone about as far as it can go in overwhelming emoangst despair. I would love to see that diminish.
ReplyDeletedid you read the rest of the interview?
ReplyDelete"And don't worry, all you
ReplyDeleteSam Girls! I have part two of this chat with Gamble and Singer, devoted
to Sam's journey this season, coming soon! Stick around!"
Fear not... Sam's spoilers will come, too. ;)
I'm a Dean girl but I love Sam too. I kind of resent be lumped in like that. The show is and always has been Sam and Dean Winchester. You can't have one without the other. I love Dean and I love Sam. I just like Dean better. Sam is an awesome character and there have been a number said alrady about what he is dong. Jensen directs one of them.
ReplyDeleteI agree wholeheartedly. It is time for healing and more action, drama, comedy, and the brothers.
ReplyDeletegain. He basically has to rebuild the car completely in order to make it "as good as mint." You might think this is an odd, nit-picky piece of minutia to focus on when such larger issues are at hand-- you know, like Castiel (Misha Collin
ReplyDeleteI just hope they tell us more than 'Sam has hallucinations'.
ReplyDeleteI've come to discover that for some of you, regardless of what Dean has or gets to do will NEVER be good enough. In the words of Chuck "the fans are always gonna bitch."
ReplyDeleteI don't think he meant all Dean fans in general. There are some that are always going to scream, be rabid, whine and bitch and gripe because NOTHING will ever be good enough for Dean with ANYTHING that they get. From what I've seen of you, you're not one of those. :) I could be wrong, but that was just what I gathered from his comment.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest you can say the same for some Dean as well as Sam fans.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about hitting rock bottom is that it can only go up from there (unless of course, the person dies, but in the Winchesters' case, that's not an option - or a permanent one). I think both Dean and Sam have been on different but parallel paths to the bottom, and I'm hopeful this will lead to a new attitude and confidence coming soon.
ReplyDeleteI think we'll have to wait and see....
ReplyDeleteI never said that, and I agree. However, I am quite happy with how things are going for Sam right now. I've been unhappy with things in the past, but I'm not noisy about it and I don't spend 40+ posts a day bitching about how unhappy I am. Things are the way that they are. People can either choose to deal with it and watch a really great show, or they can bitch endlessly and be unhappy masochists who torture themselves week after week watching, or they can jump ship and hope the bitching will cease. And if you're referring to me, I'm not one of them. I'm happy with the show. I love it. I enjoy BOTH brothers and their stories and I'm very intrigued about Dean's this season just as I am Sam's. I'm just happy the show is getting back to being about two brothers again.
ReplyDeleteof course he's fixing the Impala . . .it's the Impala
ReplyDeleteYes, this is getting REALLY anoying...
ReplyDeleteYay! for some DeanJo meaty stuff (or at least it better be!!!!!)
ReplyDeleteSo I'm actually gonna get crapped on for what I said ? Just because I don't share the same opinion as some of you guys you think it's ok to "bitch" about me? I don't post here a lot but when did it become a No different opinions allowed site?
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm with you on this one. I've been saying for over two seasons that Sam needs to start accepting who he is as a person and deal with his inferiority complex and his esteem issues once and for all. As for Dean, he needs to drop his daddy issues and stop insisting on carrying the weight of every single thing he does on his shoulders.
ReplyDeleteIf these two ever find some self-acceptance and an acceptable sense of self-worth, the show would be much better off.
tvmonkey LITERALLY asked "did you read the rest of the interview?"
ReplyDeleteHow the hell does that shit on your opinion? Don't turn this into something it's not.
Yes, let's please turn this around so the brothers can, you know... have the slightest bit of peace in their lives. They used to have each other, now they've got what's left of each other. If you're tearing them down again this season, please do so with care to build them back up. Because even I'm getting tired of how depressing this show is.
ReplyDeleteThen you won't see me sticking my tongue out at you. :P
ReplyDeleteI can say whatever I want knowing you won't read it. lol
Sometimes it's exhausting being a fan of Supernatural who frequents this website. Reading through this topic is like a chore and this isn't a unique occurrence for this particular show.
ReplyDeleteAll too often, reading through a SPN topic is like attending a Pawnee public forum.
A heavy realization just hit me... We've got some info about what's in store for Dean this season. I've seen so much endless hate against Sam from people... but there is not a word of Dean hate here like people constantly claim there is. You might have the rare one or two that hate, but nothing like what I've seen repeatedly against Sam for years, and especially since the S6 finale and the spoilers that come out. Whenever there has been a Sam spoiler, the thread blows up because there is so much hate, but here's a spoiler for Dean and there is no hate... :( This makes me so incredibly sad... Sorry. I just had to point that out.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I am really excited, intrigued and nervous about what Dean's going to go through this year. Though I'd rather not see the laid-on-thick emo like we have the past few seasons, so I have to admit the "internal" stuff worries me a bit, but I also have some hope from the sounds of ep 4. I also can't wait to see Jo come back! I never really shipped Dean and Jo as a pair, but I do like Jo and I'm really excited to see how this plays itself out! It sounds like Jensen also has some nice, meaty stuff to sink his teeth into for Dean! 2 days away until our show guys!!!
Parks & Rec ftw.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the Dean/Jo stuff, they were like brother & sister (except they didn't really get to spend enough time together imo) and it'll be great to see how she is involved in that episode.
ReplyDeleteAs for the other part of your post, I'm just going to advise you to ignore them for the time being. I realize it's upsetting but you've proven you're a fan of the show and you've made your point, but please don't feed the trolls. :)
"They used to have each other, now they've got what's left of each other."
ReplyDeleteI've been struggling of how to put that idea to words and I think you've put it perfectly. There is only so much anyone can take and the way things are going, neither brother is going to be able to lift the other back up because they are going to be in too many pieces themselves. I know people are tired of season 1 nostalgia but the incessant gloom sometimes makes me dread certain spoilers. At this point, it's not so much giving Dean and Sam a break but giving us as loyal audience members a much needed break.
Have to admit that part of my season 7 wish list is watching Dean fix the Impala again. For me, that was the best part of Everybody Loves a Clown.
ReplyDeleteTotally! I always thought they had a brother/sister relationship too. I prefer Dean with a woman closer to his age, and somebody with experience, as Dean once told Sam. ;) "I prefer ladies with experience." I am really looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Wilson. I'm not trying to. I just needed to get it off my chest. It just makes me feel really sad because of how much hate Sam gets... and I don't see all of this alleged Dean hate, and it just kinda knocked me for a loop a bit. Sorry... :(
Well I am excited for anything that will happen on the show. I watch Supernatural to be entertained and that is what I have gotten every episode. I guess I do not look at the story line as seriously as some do. I am a Deangirl but I love Sam too! I dont know if people will think Im not that big of a fan but I will not get sad or upset over someones comment pertaining to a character on the show. I will get annoyed and react if someone talks about the actors themselves though.
ReplyDeleteOn another point I AM SO EXCITED FOR FRIDAY!!!!!
"I prefer ladies with experience" just made me think of that little piece in the gag reel when "Sam" goes "yeeah" in a really creepy way. These guys crack me up! I will never be able to look at that scene the same again.... That I "touch it".... "touch it?"... "touch it." hahahahahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteI didn't start posting about tv shows until a few years ago. I found myself with some extra time on my hands and started posting on the lost boards. I was astonished at the hate directed toward a character I liked. People would post threads of nothing but unflattering photos so that they could make fun of him.
ReplyDeleteI found myself getting pulled into some of the nastier threads in his defense. One day after getting in pretty deep into a fight with a particularly disagreeable person, I realized that she was a teenager. I was fighting and trying to take down a kid. That was an eye opening moment for me. You never know who you're fighting with on the Internet, but very often the really rabid fan girls turn out to be 15 year olds. I decided I could do better.
As for my favorite character, his arc took a turn and the writers suddenly started writing him as a hero. His popularity soared and he won the Character Cup here last year. :-)
I'm not sure the brothers will ever find peace in their lives as long as they're hunters but I think that shooting for some inner peace would be a worthwhile goal. These two need to be better equipped emotionally if they're going to continue doing this job.
ReplyDeleteYeah... I'm so tired of seeing the brother wars and constant complaining from fans. Some people are never satisfied.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you! Dean's my favorite, but I love Sam lots too. They're both awesome characters, and you can't have one without the other. They're equally important. Some people just can't see that.
ReplyDeleteYes, this, exactly. I like angst just as much as the next person, but the boys deserve to have at least a little happiness. Not everything that happens to them has to be horrible, surely? I'd like to see more comedy, more, well, everything as long as it's not depressing. I know being a hunter pretty much guarantees a hard life...but they don't have to be miserable every second!
ReplyDeleteI always thought that Dean saw her as a little sister, though she did pretty clearly have a thing for him.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand all the hate Sam gets. It's really awful :( I'm a Dean girl, but I love Sam too, and I think he's awesome! I just don't understand how people can even hate him, for one thing, and for another, why do they bother watching the show if they do? He's the other main character, and he's really important. At the very least, even if they do hate him, do they have to insult him so terribly and go on and on about it?
It's nice to have some Dean spoilers! I'm looking forward to seeing him fixing the Impala... I really enjoyed that in season 2. Of course he'd fix her! It's his Baby!
ReplyDeleteThe Jo being a witness thing sounds pretty interesting. I hope they don't try and make her and Dean have a thing, though. I never thought he was interested in her like that. I thought she was like a little sister to him or something like that.
I don't want to read the comments on that site... I'm sure there will be tons of Rabid!Dean girls complaining about his storyline, and dissing Sam. I don't see it as much here as I do on other sites, which is a welcome relief. Can't they at least wait until the premiere to complain? X|
I totally agree with you, Mekina! Completely and 100%. I'm a Sam girl, but I love Dean too and think he's awesome! I wish I had the aswer to questions though... I really do... sometimes, it's just gets to be too much. :'(
ReplyDelete*high fives* No matter which one I like better, I still love them both, and the show is about them both. People need to relax. Why can't they just like them both, or at least keep quiet about their dislike? No reason to make hateful comments online....
ReplyDeleteWhy can't all fans be like us? XP
Exactly my point. I'm not asking for world peace here, just the ability to function on a basic human level!
ReplyDeleteHm.
ReplyDeleteThis "where he's in a different place than he's been in earlier seasons." makes me wonder.
So we don't get The Dean but whiny Dean who is totally unsure of himself? Gah. I hope not.
But as always all we can do is wait and see. Things can only get better after Season 6....or not.
Well of course I can't ignore the little red button that says someone replied to my comment, now can I? Cuz that would be just rude! And I may be a lot of things (eg bats**t crazy fangirl) but rude I ain't. Except I may just have to stick my tongue out right back at you :P
ReplyDeletewell.. "The fans will always bitch" hey god said it :P
ReplyDeleteso.... nothing new but DUH she doesnt wanna say anything more we have to watch it hahaha. OMG TWO FU**** (sorry) DAYS
My thoughts exactly.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. I've taken to just skipping the comments altogether most times
ReplyDeleteFinally some stuff about Dean. I find it intriguing that he will be dealing with some heavy emotional stuff. I just hope that he gets to deal with some of the myth/mystery related stuff and that we get to see Sam deal with some emotional stuff. I really need to see the boys in reverse roles story/character-wise for a change.
ReplyDeleteI'm NOT saying that Sam should have Dean's role and visa versa! All I want is to have Dean involved more in the big mystery of the season (as Sam has been for the past 6 years) and to have the opportunity to see how Sam deals and reacts with emotional stuff (as Dean's been doing for the past 6 years). I think that it is past the time for these "story plot reversals"
I am so happy about what I have been reading in these spoilery articles.
ReplyDeleteTo think that we can look forward to 23 new episodes of our favourite brothers' adventures when it could have gone the other way and the show could have been cancelled.
I will probably have to wait until next year, when the DVD comes out to see them, but it does't matter as I know I will have that to look forward to.
Fans of the show should sit back and enjoy it for what it is instead of growling at one another over insignificant details.
It's the on-going story of two handsome, intelligent courageous, dedicated, good-hearted, loving, unfortunate brothers, who are due a little good time after all that they have been through.
It's great to talk about my favourite show but it's so sad to read some of the comments about it.
Remember people that there is an off button on the tv if Supernatural really annoys you.
Does it sound like either of them is involved in the big mystery of the season? I wasn't aware Sam had anything to do with the mythology in season 7 all I've heard is about the hallucinations? Sounds to me like both brothers have an emotional arc-Dean moreso than Sam because of the whole POV thing but other than fighting the bog bad it doesnt seem like either are connected to the mythology.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm going to do from now on
ReplyDeleteNo, it doesn't sound like any of the Winchesters are involved with the big mystery. But somehow every single season-- Sam ends up connected to the mythology more than Dean so I don't expect season 7 to be different.
ReplyDeleteJust my opinion.
Other than some very insightful comments--most just make me get upset and I find that I slowly lose my enjoyment of the show at times.
ReplyDeleteI know that everyone is entitled to their opinion as it should be--but when your opinion is vastly different from the rest of the fandom-- you end up wondering what is the point and maybe you are just not understanding the show.
It has happened to me unfortunately
I don't think that's true. Sam didn't have a soul in season six, but that turned out to have no direct connection to the Cas-Crowley deal. It also wasn't true in season 3. Sam's story was mostly on the backburner. And I'd argue that season 5 focused more on Dean's decision whether to say yes to Michael. It ended with Sam, but Sam was only the subject in the last couple if episodes.
ReplyDeleteWow read all the comments. I am afraid to say anything. But, I will. Tee hee. I felt a little upset about nit picky. Heck as a fan we all know how important the Impala is in the show. It really hit home when they drove up in a Mustang and the Impala wasn't there.
ReplyDeleteI'll give you season 3 mainly because of the strike and S4 somewhat because they kept Sam's story a huge mystery. But I disagree about season 6- Sam being soulless was connected to the Castiel-Crowley deal because of their Purgatory search and the whole soul issue. And Season 5 only focused on Dean saying yes or no because of Sam saying yes or no to Lucifer and maybe at some point in S5, the brothers were equal in their connection to the mythology but only just.
ReplyDeleteSo we'll just have to agree to disagree.
d:
ReplyDeleteYes, the heart and soul of this show resides in the Impala. :)
ReplyDeleteyeah i m a huge dean/lisa shipper and not happy about jo coming back their scenes always made me cringe so i guess ill just fast forward through that glad there is another season andthe rest sounds good
ReplyDeleteI love this board! Yall crack me up!
ReplyDeleteWhy were my comments removed? I didn't bash anyone or anything. All I said was I didn't think much of the spoilers and then I'm accused of trying to start shit. I don't see any of the other posts saying I'm bitching removed. Is this because I don't share the same opinion about the spoilers as the rest of you and there for it's not allowed?
ReplyDelete
