  4. although i didn't like tara much this season i will miss her. sookie gets on my nerves if she jumps to alcide next season i will be extremely pissed. wonder what is bad with terry. poor lafayette. i liked jesus and now tara is gone. how will he take that. i wanna see how the pam and eric relationship plays out i hope they can get back to what they used to be like. who turned steve into a vampire? russell is back, but who dug him up?

  5. Well I agree with Hoyt that Jason plays the fool, but in this case with Jessica's blood in him he has a legit excuse. Sookie hated Eric but thought of him sexually because she had his blood in her. Just the way blood sharing works in that world. Jason fought it, Hoyt was done with the relationship and Jessica wanted it. Hoyt needs to accept and move on.

Not a fan of Jesus giving in to Marie to save Lafayette. At least he paid for it. One less secondary distraction next year.....

If only Arlene and Terry were zombies.. I'm sick of them living! The lil white trash pregnant costume just ices it for me! Although I do like the introduction of Sgt. Patrick.... Awesome to see Rene return to torment her annoying ass. It was a nice fit for the season seeing as Rene is a dead spirit and all....

Good for Antonia to blow out the fire.

Loved Adele kicking Marnie's spirit ass! Go Gramma Stakhouse!

Pssst. Marnie... people did not make you the freak - you were a freak and people commented on it. Big difference. If you let yourself be a victim your entire life it's on you... not other people .

Jessica makes a good Little Red Riding 'Ho' and more than just the cape fits. She and Jason are good together.

Nice to see Andy come full circle and be the best Andy he can be... sans V.

I was laughing as Sookie played drinking fountain to Eric and Bill! She won;t forget that anytime soon! XD Then she leaves them both... until she needs them later on next season....

Bill and Eric killing Nan was awesome... and it's  not like there is a shortage of snarky vampires to fill her void in later seasons! Triple behadings and a stake through the heart in the blink of an eye. Awesome stuff.... albeit  bit messy!

Overall it was ok, but did not feel like much of a finale to me... very anti-climactic after last week. Loved Tara dying (I hope) and Jesus and Nan getting the true death! Way too many people on the series and some need to go. It felt more of a set up for next season that I think would have been better served as a premiere than a finale. Now we have a werewolf pack without a packmaster, Sookie without an annoying best friend, Sargent Patrick in town for mysterious reasons, Steve
Newlin back from the dead, and King Russel on the loose.

Next year is set up quite nicely indeed!

Ps. If Marcus is dead what werewolf would come after Sam other thsan Debbie Pelt?  If she was at Sookie's after we saw Sam surprised by a wolf... Did Debbie kill Sam before trying to kill Sookie?

I may have to watch that part again....

  6. I don't think Russel could have turned Steve, but Steve could have rescued Russel I guess.

They mentioned this year Steve has been missing for 6 months so something happened between last season and this season while Sookie was in Faerie.  Russel was burred a year ago. The timing doesn't fit quite right.

Whoever captured Steve and turned him may be the same vampire or vampire group that is against The Vampire Authority that Nan mentioned... and maybe released Russel. We all know Russel was not a fan of The Vampire Authority.....

    ReplyDelete
  7. Be prepared to be upset.... Sookie tends to go for whoever the main season plot revolves around. Thai year that was Eric, but next year it is shaping up to be Alcide since he will in all likelihood need to either fight the werewolf pack whose Packmaster he killed or he will have to become their Packmaster .

I'm guessing an anti-Vampire Authority group turned Steve and dug up Russel, but I really have no evidence other than Nan mentioning in passing that there are other vampires who are anti-Vampire Authority....

  8. STEVE NEWLIN IS A VAMP?
    TARA IS DEAD??
    SOOKIE KILLED DEBBIE?
    NAN'S DEAD?
    PAM I LOVE YOU.
RUSSELL MOTHER FREAKING EDGINGTON IS BACK?!!?!?

  9. Well, there were a couple of things that I wasn't too surprised by.  Jesus and Debbie.  Surprisingly, I believed Rene (but I don't think Terry is the trouble unless his good ole buddy- who needed his live saved twice - shoves Terry off level.)

I suspect Eric and Bill are going to wish they'd at least let Nan finish her sentence.

Poor Lafayette.  Gotta say Nelsan's performance was great.  I loves seeing Gran again and I did actually like most of the way the got rid of Marnie.  The only thing I had a problem with was that Antonia and Gran were way too nice to her.

I was stunned that Jason actually told Hoyt about he and Jessica.  It fit with the sense that he's grown up some for this season.  And Hoyt...nailed Jason with a couple of truths about himself.

I love how bad guys break into your house waving a gun then get all beggy when you get the gun and turn it back on them.

    But....but....but..They killed Tara?????

    And Steve Newlin's a vampire?

I know I'm probably in a teeny weeny minority but I really liked how they ended the Sookie, Bill, and Eric triangle. I especially loved the fact that Alan Ball gave us reason to believe that Bill and Eric both *really* love Sookie.  Something I never got from the books.

  10. tara wont be dead bill or eric will sense how upset sookie is and wil come right over and feed tara blood or something

  11. First of all, there is a medium upstairs who can talk Tara back into her body while there are two vamps who can feel Sookie's fear across the cemetery while they are cleaning Nan Flanagan off of their shoes. How pissed might Pam get if Eric turns Tara to save her for Sookie? Can you imagine eternity of lesbian snark between the two of them. I always thought they'd make  good couple (Pam and Tara forever). I've been saying that all season. Since Amelia seems an unlikely girlfriend for Pam because Sookie will not need to go to New Orleans like in the books, Tara would be an amazing foil to Pam. I can hear the passive aggression from here and it is beautiful.

Anyway, it isn't Terry that Rene said was a danger. He said it was the ghosts of his past, i.e. a man named Patrick who just walked into the bar.

As soon as they said Steve Newlin was missing in the first episode I knew he was turned by someone. The question is who? Why show up at Jason's door after living incognito for half a year? I didn't get the feeling Steve was going to hurt him, more like he was looking for a person who he had believed was a "sympathizer". Just saying. It is unfortunate that Jason can be glamoured because if I'm wrong and Steve is there to kick his ass for sleeping with Sarah then Hoyt's ass kicking would be the lesser of the beatings he is going to receive.

I think next season is going to have Sookie flirting and maybe kissing Alcide who will have to fight it out werewolf style because of Marcus' death whether for pack-master or otherwise. At the fight, Sookie will meet suitor number four, John Quinn, and temporarily distract herself from the love quadrangle she is currently involved in.

Plenty of time for speculation and fanfiction, though nine months is too long to wait for twelve episodes, in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I hope they actually introduce Quinn. He is my favorite of Sookie's conquests... I mean lovers in the books.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Can you imagine hoe pissed Tara would be if she was turned into a vampire?
If she hated herself and everyone else as a human.... just think how much more she will hate herself as a vamp!

Honestly though I'm hoping that the lack of her Season 5 Marketing Photo is a sign she is perma-dead.

  14. I liked the Bill/ Sookie/ Eric triangle and it is by far my favorite part of the series... or at least Sookie is.

I never was quite sure how Bill felt in the books either although I did lean towards he was in it for himself more than true love for Sookie. The series definitely seems to play up the true love of Bill far more than the books.

  15. I remember the spoiler that said there would be 3 deads in the last episode, one surprising. We had:
    -Jesus
    -Nan
    -Tara
    -debbie
It makes 4...so Tara is probably not dead? And the surprising would be Jesus? Or maybe Jesus is going to be a part of the next season as a ghost, and by surprising they mean Tara? Whatever, Tara's dead was so forced...unnecessary. If she is dead, I hope they did not kill her just because some fans didnt like her...

  16. I have a feeling that the first part of the episode, Marnie revenge, was just a filler, and the second part was important introduction to the next season...I mean Marnie did nothing this episode, she just killed Jesus, that's it...Old dead grandma was more powerful than Marnie having Jesus power in Lafayette body? Seriously? She just got out of the grave and kicked Marnie's ass? And what about faires? I hated them but why we had so many hints of them last season just to see them once in the premiere this year? Were they even important? Or maybe the writers wanted to show us who Sookie is related too, and the fairy world in not important at all? But what was the reason to show her grandfather if in the first season we heard he was long dead (not missing)? It was unnecessary. And what about Crystal? Is that plot really over? So the whole Jason plot last season was just a filler, cause the conclusion was a gang rape in this season premiere?
And who released Russel? Only Eryc and Bill knew where he was. Maybe Eryc told Pam. But Alcide acted like he knew who was in that concrete tomb...who told him? Probably Eryc, they knew each other.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Agreed about the first half. Good questions too.

I think a lot of the hinting at faeries in past seasons may have been book related when they planned on possibly following the books more. Now they killed off Claudette and may just do what they want with the faeries instead of following the books. Maybe they just wanted to give a "reasonable" explanation as to Sookie's powers... I'm not sure what they will do in the future I guess.

Maybe they just used the faeires as a means to jump ahead one year and advance everyone else's lives other than Sookie.

They could get back to Hot Shot and Crystal by turning Jason at the next full moon. He had so much vampire blood in him that maybe it slowed his transition.  Maybe it doesn't work like the werepanthers thought (like they mentioned) and we will never hear about them again.... Not sure, but dealing with weres is already on next season's table with Alcide and the pack... so the may be back.....Alcide may well have recognized Russell Edgerton from his highly publicized killing of the newscaster on live TV. Even if Alcide did not know WHO was in the tomb, he did know that Eric and Bill had a vampire entombed in concrete. So just knowing that vampire escaped would put fear in him.

  18. Wow, I read everyone's comments.  Interesting very interesting.  I have to say my daughter and I watched it.  She lives in Oregon.  I live in Pennsylvania.  The texts went something like this-ugh, awwww, really, WOW, awwwww, WTF!  lol   Looks more like a Batman Movie.

Debbie and Jesus dying was a no brainer.  Lafayette and Terry's storyline is up to the writers because in the books Lafayette is dead and Terry was never there.  Two more character's that were not in the books are Jessica and Hoyt.  Alan can do what he wants w/these characters. I am sure he will.

When I heard main character dying I really thought it was going to be Jessica.  Boy, was I wrong.  Tara, I mean really?  Sadly Tara was the easy target since in the books she really wasn't in the story line a lot.  It's doesn't really matter if she comes back or not.  The Tara in the books was a much better person than the Tara in the show.  No joking aside, the actress always looked in pain when she was having sex w/someone.  I won't miss that at all.  One thing that bothers me is who is going to be Sookie's new BFF.

I am still trying to figure out what the heck was a panther doing showing up at Sam's place.  Where is that coming from at all?  It has to be Crystal.  Right?  Is she preggers w/Jason's baby?  Do we need this kind of drama .  I think not.  Could Steve be a panthervamp?  So many questions.

I really don't want Alan bringing in John Quinn.  Alan messes up my visions of all the characters from the book.  So I hope he leaves that one alone.  Let Alcide and Sookie have the romance that John gave her in the book.

A friend of mine brought up a good point.  I am going to try to remember it for next year.  The show is called True Blood.  It doesn't say anywhere the Sookie Stackhouse Story.

  19. Ha!
Tara of the series was really painful to watch... I'm almost glad they put her out of her misery... assuming they did of course. Ironically in the books Tara has a role to play in Book 5.

I thought it was a black wolf snarling and growling at Sam not a panther. Regardless..... what was it doing there? Marcus is dead, Alcide did the killing and betrayal to the pack.  I don't get it either. Luna out of control and shifted saying goodnight? Maybe it was some Shreveport pack were getting revenge on Sam or Alcide to set up the Book 5 plot...

I too wonder what Ball will do about Sookie needing a BFF. I can't see him introducing Amelia early, but maybe Ball will send Sookie to look for Hadley.

Your friend is right on some level at least.... The Southern Vampire Mysteries are the Sookie Stackhouse story... not True Blood True blood started off that way, but then the characters that were suppose to die or not even exist became fan favorites. Then Alan Ball gave in to fans and kept them alive... even worse he then decided to even give them bigger roles.

I hope Alan has learned the error of his ways and this culling of the cast is a sign of a much tighter Season 5. Season 4, much like Season 3, was sloppy at times (still better than Season 2 by miles though). If Ball focuses more on Sookie, less on each cast member having their own plotline, It will be a much better season.

  20. Please... please god let Tara be dead. Didn't like the character throughout the whole series and especially this season. Maybe its the Game of Thrones in me, but it would be nice if a Major (first season) character died and stayed that way. The whole series is getting a bit meh, to be honest. Sookie eternally seems to be the girl who sticks her nose in other peoples business and then wonders why these people are trying to kill her for sticking her nose in their business. At this point I am just watching it for Pam, Eric and Jessica.

Although, a few people have mentioned Quinn. It may be fanboy editing, but someone has put on Dominic Purcell's wikipedia page that he has been cast as Quinn in season 5.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thankfully season five is supposed to have back story for Pam's first days as a vampire, how she and Eric first met, etc. I can't wait for that because Pam and Eric make the show for me. I do adore Jessica also and like the idea of her growing up a little. She went from her oppressive father to her repressive Maker and then committed to someone else so quickly that she is due a little rebellion... enter Jason.

I'm all for Dominic Purcell playing Quinn. I can already hear the growling from the men in the existing quadrangle, which would be called a what... ?quintangle? if you add the tiger into the mix?

On another note, Bill screaming "We are not puppy dogs" has been giving me the giggles all day. Maybe Bill and Eric will call a truce between themselves to make sure Sookie stays away from any and all Weres. Now that's a dynamic duo.

  22. One of the weirdest episodes of any TV show ever. The entire last 10 minutes were one big WTF.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I guess that Tara is not a part of the marketing pictures because her fate is one of this season's cliffhangers... The fact that Jason is part of the marketing for next season probably means that Steve Newlin won't be invited into his house... =)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I really don't think someone can come back from having their brains splattered all across the white cabinets, which, they were. Poetically, or maybe ironically, she died in the same fashion as Eggs did.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "Next year is set up quite nicely indeed!"

    I don't know about that.

*We've got an Andy / Faerie subplot - that's an iffy proposition
*Arlene being afraid of her own husband - Arlene being anything but snarky is intolerable
*Sookie will be with Alcide (because it's his turn, apparently)
    *Steve Newland is back, unfortunately
*Pam seems to have developed a full-blown anti-Sookie agenda
*Tara is dead (which I'm okay with) so now Sookie doesn't have any human friends
*They've set up Lafayette to be the new Tara - now he has almost the exact same baggage as she did
*They've brought back Edgington (along with Newland) and story retreads are never a good idea
*Sookie is a murderer now  (even though I confess that I liked seeing her shoot Debbie)

Next season could very well be the season where True Blood goes completely off the rails.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I was sad Jesus was killed, and I'll miss Nan,but Debbie and Tara should've both died long ago.

    ReplyDelete
  27. There should be an option below awful. I'm sadly disappointed with this season finale.Tara death was extremely forced. Yes she was always whining about how complicated her life was, she hated Bon-Temps, wanted to get rid of allher past and baggage, still they could have easily closed that chapter by not bringing her back again from New Orleans where she was happy with Naomi. Instead they brought her back to do, well, remember me what did she do? Yep, nothing is spot on. So they just brought her back to kill her. Still now that she's dead LET IT BE that way. Don't bring her back.Jesus being killed. I lol'd at this. I mean with so many characters in the series True Blood urgently needs to get rid of some of them. However there are lots of characters that are only seeing the plot pass by them. Hoyts mom , Mrs. Fortenberryis clearly one of them. The story of the crazy baby of Arlene and Terry is seriously BORING and so are they. No one would miss Arlene or Terry. Not even Andy. I mean for christ's sake he isn't doing anything. Moving forwards what about the entire werepanther plot? Where the hell are Crystal and Hotshot? They broughta new kind of supernatural species in the last season to never go back to it again? Alright...Alcide? When it seems that he is going to let the heat die down with Debbie (which I don't honestly like) the things with their new pack get complicated and it goes wrong AGAIN. Seriously? Next season we will probably have Sookie with himand him fighting either to lead the pack or running for his survival. Either way, I don't see much of interest in it. He's not a bad character at all but he's the "other one" when Eric and Bill are around. Apparently Russel is back. No words. Is he a good villain? Yes, he is. Still it's going down one simple way, he andNewlin will clearly be on the anti-vampire league. Besides if Steve is back where's Sarah? It was painful to watch Sookie dialogue with Eric and Bill. Twilight much? She can't pick between the two of them. So in the end with whom will she stay? Big drum roll and wait for the drama to unfold. Now she's going to run to Alcide ?Watchable parts, those that contain Eric and Bill without Sookie; Sam, Jason, Pam, Jessica and Lafayette. When you just thought that Marnie was back and possessing Lafayette for a villain rage all she does in the episode is killing Jesus. Oh well. Disappointing to say the least. Way too many plots and most of them are boring.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I agree. I'll be so pissed off if Tara was killed simply because some fans didn't like her. It's petty and detremental to the integrity of the program overall. If she had to be killed off that was not the way to do it, especially in an already death-heavy episode.

I'm leaning towards her being saved by vampire blood or other means. Maybe thats just me being hopeful, though.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That was my first thought as well.  That someone would turn Tara...she would NOT be amused.  So I guessed she's not coming back.   Not really surprising when you consider they've pretty much written the character into a corner.

    ReplyDelete
  30. was more excited about the prospect of russel coming back and hopefully some more decent alcide scenes next year

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thiought that that was a very weak episode with huge plot holes.  Bill and Eric tied to a stake.... OK, but HOW?  If taken over by Marnie then surely they should be in zombie vampire state?  Antonia, after swearing to rid the world of vampires, actually saving them for burning?  Not exactly plausible.

I did like Steve Newlin turning up with fangs.  I did not expect that.  The fact we are likely to get RusselI Edgington again too?  Great. I also liked the last 5 mins, shame Nan's gone, but Bill & Eric in that scene were good... and Sookie, Tara and Debbie?  Excellent.  it appears as if Tara will be back next season, or so Rutina says, which is a shame as I thought they killed her off at the right moment for the show.  I suppose the vampires will swoop in and give her their blood and then there will be the inevitable waiting for her sex dream with which ever one of them it is that saved her.  Honestly though, that is getting a bit old.
