I like the new intro. Perfect place setter for the series.
OMG! That first scene killed me! "I thought your wife liked roses..." XD
Seriously these detectives are terrible! How hard could it be to find a guy in a suit in NYC? XD
I spy Goodwin! Gotta love JJ Abrams.... You work for him once and you will be guest starring in series as long as he is writing!
Ok, one needs a healthy dose of suspension of disbelief with this series, but it is too fun! I guess the one place you don't need it is with the one on one fights. Great fight choreography!
I'm loving the interjected humor too. The one-liners are fun. "I guess I can use the miles." XD
Okay, is it predictable a lot of the time? Yes. I just don't care because I enjoy it so much regardless oh what I know when I know it.
I think this episode was better than the pilot. AWESOME episode!!!
Hmm... So if Finch is Linus then "The Machine" is actually "The Lighthouse v v2.0" that gives 9 digit numbers instead of 2 or 3 digits? I guess once Walt took over Linus was free to leave the island and go to.... another island- Manhattan! XD
I wonder what the Dharma Initiative would call the warehouse.... cold storage? The brain? Oh, The Spy Glass!
Hey remember that dangling plot thread with Ben in the photo at the airport that Miles had, and remember that he was a Preferred Customer to that hotel in Tunisia, not to mention all the passports he had. I think we just blew this thing wide open!!!!!!!
Awesome ep tonight! Loved that the early mini "origin story" of Finch and the machine... I'm guessing that the machine predicted that Finches old partner either would get killed as an irrelevant event and Finch was unable to stop it in time, hence his injuries, or maybe his old partner tried to kill him and got killed instead... anyway great stuff. I hope to get more exposition and development of Taraji Henson's detective soon.
I liked it. I actually really like they way they're handling the violence (and I love a good shoot out) but I find I really like that some is behind doors and hinted at by the sound and that sometimes we get to see this guy in action. There was a moment in the pilot where I was worried he was going to be held back from doing what he's good it. I'm really glad they didn't do that.
I'm not sure how I feel about Finch maintaining the mystery/stand-offishness thing. I thought I was okay with it but when he walked out of the building saying "don't call me" it rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe because it feels like the show doesn't feel like it's decided whether they're a team or not. I don't know. That moment just annoyed me.
I also liked the uncle's moment of redemption.
Loved the lady cop getting paid. Something tells me when she does come face to face with TMITS (the man in the suit) it's not going to be when she has the upper hand. (Actually, I predict her ssn is gonna get popped out before the season is over. :-)
This was a great follow up to the pilot.. loved how it was a little zippier this time.. cute & clever cut a ways and one liners.. my fave: when the uncle is shot w/ a silenced gun and our view shifts to watching through a camera that makes the same ssshhft noise of the shot and the screen scrambles for a second.
A Goodwin/Linus reunion! Awesome! can't wait for TOQ to guest in season 2 (i bet they can't fit him in this season but it's def in ME's mind)
Watching the hit man use a lot of the same tricks we've been watching our guy do was pretty clever/creepy. The opening scene was stellar.
I both agree and disagree about Finch telling Reese not to call at the end.
I see it as an employer and his employee and Finch is establishing the pecking order. He is the boss not a partner.
At the same time I realize that the more active participant being Reese seems to be the more important. All Finch could do without Reese is read the papers the next day and see what he did not stop. XD
I think over time it will evolve into a working partnership, not based on trust necessarily, but based on necessity and mutual understanding. Although I kind of hope after that point is reached everything is thrown on its head because Finch is responsible for Reese's one true love's death. XD
This episode was better than the pilot. I really liked it. The opening scene in the elevator was awesome. I also liked the playful cat and mouse thing that Reese and Finch have going. That was a lot of fun. It's cool that at the same time the audience is trying to figure out Finch, so is Reese.
Did anyone catch the dates on the bust at the end? I forgot to back it up and look.. curious is they gave the Birth - Death dates for his partner and face of the company... See where his demise falls b/t the 2007 conversation and our present 2011 ..
dang i was very surprised when reese got his @ss kicked lol and its only the 2nd episode. I mean i know he won in the end but he did it by shooting the guy at the laundry place. But he did get thrown through the window lol so i count that as a lose to.
His demise year is dated with 2010. I guess maybe he tried to help one of the "irrelevant" persons and got killed. And Mr. Finch got injured in the process and to get over his guilt for his partners death, recruited Reese to cover the physical work.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Incredible. I love ME! He has this part nailed from the get go.

I just bruised my forehead on my keyboard.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I have observed here is that since the cast is small, just two guys and two supporting roles, the guest stars of the week have larger roles.

ReplyDeleteDude, if there's one thing I've appreciated about your comments since the new season started..it's that you're evil. A quality to be praised. :-)
