  1. Oh my GOD!! It was fabulous! It was heavy! It was so good! Jane was so fantastic here, and Bertram?? Yikes!

  2. Not sure what to think about Jane only spending a few days in Jail after killing someone no matter how bad they where. And people complain that House got off lite for what he did.

  3. Wow, how does Jane know that he didn't kill the real Red John?!  He was so sure in prison, and now he's so sure... but the opposite of what he thought!  Great start.

  4. I had a feeling they would do that, bring red john back into the mix of things. I was hoping they won't. I was hoping they'd improve on the red john story. Apart from that i loved the show, Brilliant!

  5. I honestly don't know what to make out of this, I mean, does nobody feels like it has been a bit too easy to get out of jail for Jane? Cleared of all charges?? He shot a man after all (however evil he has been) and, correct me if I'm wrong there, they haven't proved the gun/self defense thing, have they?
So maybe I'll have to rewatch it or something but right now, the ep didn't feel perfectly right to me.
I would have loved to see Lisbons reaction to Jane shooting the guy, too, unfortunatly they dealt with this part offscreen.
And how does Jane know this wasn't RJ? I hope we get that explained in the next (few) eps.
I liked the blueberry muffin thing though, nice pick up on the jail scene in season 2 I guess it was, and Bertram was hilarious too, a bit creepy again :)

  6. If I were Jane, I would be sure he was not Red John because someone took the gun and the phone from the scene. If Timothy had been the real Red John, no one would have bothered to remove those items. Timothy must have been "someone disposable" just like the girl who went to the hotel in the finale.

  7. Yes, a little disappointing. Is it RJ? Does he not? Is it RJ? Does he not? Is it RJ? Does he not? It is tiring andsickening. Although now makes more sense to plot created with theFBI agent. The chapter was the continuous one of looks of Jane and Lisbon. I Loved to

  8. ... I don't know what to think of this episode.
On one hand, I was pleased to see how the writters set up the potential different plot of the season. On the other hand, I don't agree with how easy it has been to get Jane outta jail with no charges remaining against him. Like many people already said, he still killed a man...
However, I cannot see how they could have done otherwise without dragging the whole story on multiple episodes which is definitely not good for the dynamic of the show...

Also, I agree that the "Is it Red John, no it isn't... Is it Red John, no it isn't" could get very irritating if the character of Red John does not get a more prominent part in the show. The character needs some development, evolution and screen time if the writters want to keep the interest of the audience on the Red John plot.

    So yeah, I am confused...

  9. I still don't know what to makes of this episode. The season finale was pretty damned awesome, so I suppose I was expecting this one to be on the same level; it started out well enough, but really the whole Jane trial should have, at the very least, spanned two episodes. Everything at the end seemed far too rushed.

I still don't know what to make of Red John still being alive, either. A small part of me almost wanted Heller to have the balls enough to keep him dead, start something new, but I really can't say I'm surprised that Red John's still alive. Don't get me wrong, I more happy that he's alive than dead, because there needs to be way more Jane/Red John face-to-face interactions and fun, twisted mind games between the two before Jane finally kills him (which I'm hoping he still does; that is, if they don't pull some cheesy, "CBS cares" preachy morality bullshit and have Jane go out of character at the very last minute. After everything that's happened in this series that would be one hell of a weak copout to the end of the show).

Anyway, I liked the episode, I loved the chemistry between Jane and Lisbon (nice that it's coming back after that godawful season two) but like all of this show's season premiers (not counting the pilot), it seemed to have glossed over way too much and rushed the rest.

  10. Should have been a two-part episode - did too much to soon but very enjoyable none the less

  11. I agree, there was a lot of information and events packed in one hour. Especially since Jane got out easily of prison, a two-parter would have perhaps made his stay longer thus more believable. I'm sure he isn't the first to "trick" the jury but on the other hand, maybe it was all part of RJ's plan. Someone on the jury (or more) could have made sure he got out without a fuss.

  12. that b!tch was crazy!  when she started unlocking doors i was like.. mmm not cool lady, but when they showed the girl chained to the bed, whoa! from there is just got creepy in that room.. shudders. I'm glad Jane shot that guy.. a pawn of RJ.  I hate Bertram. Jane in jail was pretty funny.. love the team looking out for him.. missed this show.. ready to get past the opening and into some juicy stuff.

  13. This episode was just amazing, even with the fact , that Jane really got out of jail a little to easy! But I guess the last sentence to the jury "what would you do " did the trick! The moment it was clear that the cellphone and the gun had been taken from the scene, it was clear, that Jane didn`t kill RJ! I`m so thrilled for this season and Bertram looks really suspicious to me....

  14. Ok, question. anyone may feel free to answer. Is it possible for a murderer who has confessed to a murder to be allowed to go scot free just because a jury thinks so? I am not familiar with American law, but I don't think any law allows vigilante justice, let alone killing for personal vengeance.

  15. i am a really big fan of the show but this does not sit right with me as well. he may have killed the murderer of his family but there is no way that a murderer will be allowed to go free. If people are allowed to exact personal vengeance, then law enforcement would be obsolete.

  16. Excactly my thoughts. I still have hope that they'll explain this in the next episode a bit more though...
I mean, I remember all those interviews directly before and after the finale last May, all like "you're going to have one big question written all over your face: how are they going to get out of that one?!" and seriously, all they came up with was a simple "the defendant is cleared of all charges"?? Sorry, I don't buy it.
And it all started so well with the interrogation scene for example (the one that was already revealed as a sneak peek earlier) - I just loved that one. (awesome acting by Simon Baker btw)

I guess I'll have to wait and see how the next few eps will play out, including the further developement of the RJ storyline. Maybe it'll start to make more sense to me then...

Like some others have already written, in my opinion a 2 ep premiere would have been way better - then they'd have had more time to deal with the how to get Jane out of jail issue, make it more authentic to the viewers and it'd still not have affected the dynamics of the show too drastically.

The season finale was so awesome that I guess my expactations for the premiere were just too high...

  17. Jane is Red John. Count on it.

  18. I also thought about someone in the jury working for Red John... too strange... :/

    ReplyDelete
  19. He has people everywhere, it wouldn't surprise me if this was part of his plan to mess with Jane even more. Put him in trouble and save him afterwards. Jane thought he was one step ahead, maybe he's been wrong the whole time.

  20. That Timothy was not Red John was clear to me even after the season three finale (though we did not know his name then). And, I am glad that he was not, finding Red John is the driving force of the show and it has to be so until the show ends.

About the whole not guilty thing, as much as I want to, I just don't buy it. And in what prison will there be a such a high stakes poker game where you can win a million fucking dollars? No matter how brilliant the show gets after this, the premiere episode will always be in my mind. It was a let down.

  21. yep, something like that!!

  22. I really doubt it but that would be creppy-genious. Jane ends up being a multiple personality psychopath with several minions that have been helping him all along.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well that would definitely make a very good and twisted series finale :P
Not too soon though... I want at least another season :)

  24. This is exactly the kind of resolution I was afraid of.  Jane gets bail through a county lock-up poker game (strike one), the entire team investigates his case while on suspension without anyone at the CBI finding out (strike two), and then Jane is completely acquitted of a crime he admits to in open court accompanied by a mountain of evidence against him AND he represented himself to boot. (strike three)

I get that procedurals routinely stretch the boundaries of the realities of the justice system but this was over-the-top stupid.  This premiere made me lose quite a bit of respect for this show.

  25. It so would. It would be both awesome and disappointing I think, like I was cheated by the show. But that creepy smiley face always reminds me of Patrick.  Or is it just me?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I must agree, but perhaps our expectations got too high after the last finale. I also expected more emotional and conflicted reaction from Lisbon. But she just took it in stride as if it was another of Jane's usual shenanigans.

  27. For all those trying to get the jury decision around their brains; consider this...neuro linguistic programming.

I believe that is how Jane convinced the jury he wasn't guilty.

He made them believe that the man that Jane killed, never existed...so how could he possibly have been murdered.  You can kill a man that doesn't exist.  And their minds were open to this possibility due to their disgust with the fake red john, after his victims testimony.

I and I am sure Jane, knew that it wasn't the real Red John that he had killed that very moment he saw that the girl was still alive...Red John doesn't keep hostages/victims he just kills them, however his "helpers" do.

    So now the questions;

    1.  Who was the security guard?
    2.  Who was the fake red john, really?
    3.  Who is his wife really?
    4.  Of course, who is Red John...really?
    5.  How does he recruit his helpers?
    6.  How many helpers does he have?
    7.  How does he fund all of what he does?
    8.  Is there still a mole in CBI?

I think Red John is Jane's father and he is using Britt Stiles "cult" to carry his nefarious machinations.

As to everything else, I really don't know.

  28. Yes it is possible in the American justice system....it is known as jury nullification.

Google it and you will be amazed/disgusted.

Also check out my other post in this thread and it will explain my opinion on the subject.

  29. that would make it kinda lame imo.

  30. oh, thanks for the info. really. Now, I can continue watching one of my favorite shows without this lingering thought in the back of my head that says, "this is not possible. there is no way this man can be free"
