I'm sure some fans won't like it but I loved it. It was heartbreaking at the end when Older Amy and Rory said goodbye. I think Karen did a great job in both roles and its interesting how Rory commented about the Doctor trying to turn him into him, I think this signals that Amy and Rory may say goodbye to the Doctor soon. Their lives have been messed up way too much.
I really liked this episode. I cried almost as much as Rory....and I'm only a teeny bit ashamed to admit it. (Most of that is cause I have a younger sister who tortured me about crying at Benji.)
Rory has always been an odd character for me. He's always felt...not necessarily expendable but..like a single episode guest star. The work they've done this season at showing us the strength that character possesses. He's lost his insecurity about how Amy feels about him and I'm starting to believe that Amy would look to him before she looks to the doctor. I never really believed it before. Amy is a force of nature and Rory won't ever be but he's the anchor she can count on and I felt like he was that in this episode.
There are people that doesn´t like how Steven Moffat runs Dr Who. There are people that doesn´t like Matt Smith. There are people that doesn´t like series 5 and 6 (so far).
I am not one of these people. In fact, as more episodes are broadcasted, I grow more and more convinced that Matt Smith would surpase David Tennant as the best modern doctor (sorry folks, Tom Baker is just amazing).
How could you not like the face that the Doctor makes at the end of the episode, that ancient, mistifying face, both hiper-wise and fearful? He is perfect!!!
And Rory? How can people despise Rory? A boy who waits 2000 years JUST to rescue Amy, because a crazy Time Lord with a fez (how can you trust someone that wears a fez for fun?) tells him to? Rory is loveable, silly, and has balls the size of the moon.
Anyways. This series has been Perfect. And my last comment: did anyone paid attention to this? - You can alter the future BECAUSE you know your future - Does that mean that, as the Doctor knows h is gonna die, he now can prevent it??? Because that would free River/Melody, and they would not have met ever, etc, etc... fracking time paradoxes...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI'd miss having Amy around but I wouldn't mind a new companion.
ReplyDeleteI loved Rory's comment. A nurse being turned into The Doctor with a nod to Doomsday(one of The Doctor's saddest moments).
ReplyDeleteBrilliant episode.
Such a sad episode! My heart really went out to the older Amy and poor Rory having to choose.
ReplyDeleteKaren Gillian was brilliant!! and that last scene with old amy made me cry Ç_Ç
