Loved the episode. Jeff/Annie stuff. Chang vs. Britta was great with that song playing. Asian Annie is a perfect nemesis to Annie. And Pierce was great with his lines.
As a big fan of Community I didn't like this episode. I thought the acting was poor compared to their other episodes and the writing was off. Annie's character development is silly too. She seems to regress like this at least once a season but somehow it means she is growing up.
I think its more to remind us how Annie used to be the adderall girl with the psychiotic break and that sometimes slips through the neat, tidy girl we see most of the time. But even so, I loved the episode, enjoy Jeff/Annie, but I didn't like her flipping out like that in this episode or some of her other weird moments like freaking out over the pen or "blowing everything off" in the conspiracy episode.
In rewatching rhis episode the Fringe reference thot also recurred to me. It was a solid episode, and having an Abed/Troy bit at the end was very funny.
I thought this was much better than the premiere. Shirley had the best line in the show when she reacted to Britta's "Rage Against The Machine" outburst. I also liked that Jeff and Annie finally admitted that their relationship can get a bit creepy at times.
My biggest beef with this episode is that they overdid the Lionel Ritchie gag with Britta and Chang.
I laughed when I realized that it was all a big Fringe joke, but I mostly just miss Troy and Abed. They drive what I like about the show and seeing infantile Annie, Britta continuing to ruin everything, and Jeff try to verbalize how creepy his relationship with Annie is a big letdown. Also, not a fan of fart jokes. Except for the Spartacus reference.
Well, I have no problems with fart jokes. But this one was rather plain. Nevertheless ever since Louis CK broke down why a fart is funny on The Daily Show, I definitely appreciate them more than I did before. NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Loved it!

ReplyDeleteBadass Britta was hilarious!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the "I farted" "we all farted" made me cry with laughter.
Pretty much what I thought too. But it's great that Community provides a lot of laughs even when it's not at its best.
