When How I Met Your Mother returns on Sept. 19, unrequited love will be in the air.

Robin better be The Bride, I swear! BroTP for life!
ReplyDeletethaanks :D
ReplyDeleteBarney is always funniest when single and on the prowl. Period.
ReplyDeleteI guess I always assumed he and Robin would end up together, but I hope they postpone it as long as possible - just like meeting the "Mother".
Yeah, I don't know how excited I am for the next season. I mean, it's kind of the epitome of sitcom conundrum. For Barney to remain interesting, he needs to evolve... But what makes him interesting is often his lack of evolution. Will the show be worth watching with a more vulnerable and monogamous Barney? He could remain really shallow while trying to deal with temptation. That would be funny for a few episodes... Otherwise... I don't know. It was a really great interview and I'm glad the showrunners are still really passionate about their show, but I worry.
ReplyDeleteAll of that being said, in doing a recent re-watch of earlier seasons, the show is frankly not as good as I remember. This is likely due to having more recently watched Community, Scrubs, Friends, and Cougar Town.
It's true that most characters need to evolve to be interesting but honestly... I think Barney was the most entertaining he could be. The more Bro Code and blog posts the better.... The more womanizing, theories and rules the better.
ReplyDeleteSometimes perfection should be left alone... much like Bart Simpson or Al Bundy - characters that stayed as they were introduced for basically the entire series.
