House - Episode 8.01 - Twenty Vicodin - Advance Review

Sep 19, 2011

Going into the eighth (and perhaps final) season, House has a big task. First they have to regain the love of fans, and they have to do it minus one of its central characters. It’s going to be a tough job, but a huge departure can also serve as the shake-up a series needs.

Season 8 begins a year after the actions of the last finale. Dr. House is now in prison serving time for his actions. We join in when he’s in front of the parole-board (near the end of his sentence.)

To judge this episode, you have to compare it to the Season 6 premiere entitled “Broken”, which saw Dr. House in a rehab facility. The two-parter saw Dr. House with his struggles in rehab, and the relationships he built. The episodes also only featured Hugh Laurie for the most part.

  1. No comments ? Are people afraid of reading spoilers ?
Reading in this review the writers will try to justify their mistake, with the help of the character,.seems very manipulative to me too. I'm waiting to know how it will be to exchange "romance" for "Taub babies". I'm an optimistic viewer and I let the writers the chance to come back to something believable and interesting. I regret Lisa Edelstein departure, not because I like her, but because I would have liked to see what was next. And I don't forget her departure means that three actresses lost their role as Rachel, Arlene and Lucinda. I'll watch season 8, because I consider HOUSE the most interesting show I watch at the present time.
