Game of Thrones - Model Quits Over a Nude Scene

Sep 6, 2011

An up and coming Dublin actress walked away from a role on HBO’s Game of Thrones when she realized she was going to have to shoot an erotic scene on set of the show’s second season. Lisa Nolan insists she was promised ‘no nudity’ when she signed her contract with the show and that as soon as she arrived on set she was asked to remove her clothing.

The 21 year old told the Herald: “I was aware that the scene was slightly raunchy, but I thought it wasn’t a sex scene and they said they would give me skin patches for my breasts. But when I got there they wanted me to be fully topless and in the scene I had to strip off. So I pulled out at the last minute.” She continues, “I was aware that the scene was slightly raunchy, but I thought it wasn’t a sex scene and they said they would give me skin patches for my breasts. But when I got there they wanted me to be fully topless and in the scene I had to strip off. So I pulled out at the last minute.”

The 12 hour filming session to her “looked like it was going to basically be soft porn. As well as modelling I study Sports Physiotherapy so I want to be taken seriously, I wouldn’t if I had given in and filmed the scene. It was my own fault really because I didn’t research the show properly. The money was amazing and the idea of it all was so glamorous but I’m glad I walked away because now I have my dignity intact,” she explained.

“The whole experience was surreal. But I was in a totally different environment than what I’m used to. I would love to get into acting but right now I’m not focused on it. So I’m glad the producers of Game of Thrones did contact me for the role, because now I know I have the face for TV,” she said.

So this unknown model was cast in one of the biggest cable productions as the sextoy.... excuse, mistress of the King and she didn't think she would need to be naked? I guess she did ABSOLUTELY NO reseasrch for the part. Obviously she is not a MENSA member like Conan Stevens (Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane)

  1. This will make me laugh all day! XD

I always laugh at anyone that gets into the modeling industry and has issues with nudity. It's nonsensical! Then to not research a part you have been hired for is just unprofessional.

If we all had a dollar for each time some casting agent said one thing and then it was different on the set with the creative team and/or director of the shoot.....

Welcome to the world of acting. Now be gone.

  2. Don't want to be petty but Conan Stevens plays Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane "The Hound " is his brother Sandor

  4. 1.  Maybe she should have watched the show before taking the job.
    2.  Did she really think they'd make a "no nudity" exception for an unknown model with no acting experience?

  5. Wait... What?! "[It] looked like it was going to basically be soft porn. As well as modelling I study Sports Physiotherapy so I want to be taken seriously, I wouldn’t if I had given in and filmed the scene."
Many of EmilIa Clarke's scene involved complete nudity and sex scenes. She is a gorgeous person, and an amazing actress. I believe that she IS taken seriously because she goes along with the script and exceeds the expectations..

  6. She wants to be taken seriously because she studies Sports Physiotherapy and Modelling...?

    Unbelievable.

  7. She obviously did not want to be taken seriously as an actress... XD

I can respect that honestly, but nudity as a job being an actress or model is not some scarlet "A" stitched into your permanent record that will stop you from getting a job. Now, recreational nudity like indecent exposure etc is an entirely different thing altogether.

That said at least show now knows she shouldn't be an actress.

Although I fear her delusions still exist. The lesson she took from this debacle is that she has "a face for TV"... sigh.

  10. Does this mean we are getting more sexposition scenes? Because I am so over that bullshit

  11. I think an actress has a right to refuse to do nude scenes. It can be a personal thing, although there's no professional stigma attached to it, when you're 21 and starting out it can be daunting.

That said, I find it hard to believe she was promised 'no nudity'. Casting folk tend to be up-front about this kind of thing to avoid someone walking out halfway through production, like she did. GoT isn't Showgirls, after all, and someone else made an excellent point about Emilia Clarke.

I don't think she watched the show or did research.

  12. Your second paragraph basically contains the same quote twice. I'm sure there was meant to be something different after the "She continues," part.

  15. I agree I don;t think any actress should be forced to anything, but I would wager she (and her agent) were informed ahead of time what the role required at a minimum. Maybe she just heard what she wanted to hear....

I would be willing to bet they informed he she would have nude scenes and that she did not have to be completely naked for them (meaning topless or bottomless but not both at once) or that they would hide her nudity with lights, shadow, and camera angles, but she still needed to be naked for the filming of the scenes.I mean I think even she is smart enough to realize that she was hired for her body... not her body of work (seeing as she as no acting experience). Frankly I am a bit surprised they even bothered to cast a model or actress that had issues with nudity knowing ahead of time the role REQUIRED nudity. Why would Nina Gold and her team give themselves that headache when there are literally thousands of actresses who would do the job without nudity contract clauses... Granted there are often differences between the casting period and the director's vision as he films... or the creative teams rewrites after casting that may have changed her scenes, but I cannot fathom the GoT team hiring a 'never-nude' for the role of concubine!

  16. Really the girl should have researched the show, not doing so is a big no no. But if she was in fact promised (in writing) no nudity, and made a statement that she doesn't do nudity then it's on the show.
