Game of Thrones - Casting News - Fintan McKeown is Amory Loch and Gregor Recast(?)
Sep 12, 2011
Game of ThronesMore casting news for Game of Thrones.. .both good and bad. Maybe disappointing is better word.
Irish actor Fintan McKeown will play Amory Loch.
The second and still officially unconfirmed news (although multiple unofficial sources have confirmed it) is that Conan Stevens who played Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane in Season One will no longer play the role. Ian Whyte will be replacing Conan. The 7-foot tall Welsh actor and stuntman has a good resume, but is hardly as imposing as Conan Stevens.

I like the Loch casting, but not sure what to make of the Gregor recast news just yet.
ReplyDeleteWhen they initially cast Game of Thrones I thought Stevens just WAS Gregor, but watching Season One a few times now.... I never really cared for his performance. Although he had VERY limited screen time and according to Stevens himself... was edited terribly.
Maybe this will be a happy accident in the end...
Yeah its not like we got a lot of Gregor in S1 so hopefully the recast won't be a big deal
ReplyDeleteAnd depending on how they write/ film Season Two there may not be a lot of Gregor again... what scenes he does have he could be in full armor shielding his face too.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible that Whyte will just be filling in since Conan is busy filming The Hobbit and for the dialog scenes or big fight in Season Three we could get Conan back?
Kinda funny... this would be Whyte's second role on Game of Thrones since he played the White Walker in the pilot episode.
the only Clegane I care about is Sandor ;P love me some Hound xD
ReplyDeleteI hate recasts as a rule so I'm not too happy about that if it is indeed true....
ReplyDeleteI second that opinion. It just seems so wrong when the next season starts.
ReplyDeleteI am going to wait and see what the story/what the Ian whyte look like onscreen before making up my mind. The The Mountain' does not have a massive role in book two as far a I remember.
