  1. Thank you! I understand why they decided not to include his speech, but it also is a great scene with it.

  2. thanks!! it was a good call to not include the whole thing in the final cut, imo. it's more emotional the way they did it!

  3. I think I actually prefer this better, but I'm sort of conflicted with that notion. On one hand, Tilton's score really showcased the emotional ramifications of Olivia's death on everyone, while the speech sort of drew the attention away from that focus. On the other hand, we get so very little about what Peter thinks and feels that intellectually I appreciated hearing this.

I still like in the original version that they didn't inter-cut Peter's breakdown at home with the funeral. It worked better as a separate scene. So I liked elements of both. I'm glad it was included in the set, though; it was well-written and perceptive.

  8. I really love it, but I think that the transition from that scene to the next one in the episode was perfect.

  10. This one gives you a better idea of how much he's just lost hope completely. Inturn impowering the breakdown and his final decision. It really shows how much he loved her, him saying that it isn't really a life basically with out her. Makes his final choice clear.

  11. Any chance that we can get this in text?? as well?

  12. Nevermind, found it...

Olivia Dunham, my wife, was everything to me. When we first met, I was a nomad, moving from place to place, job to job. She gave me a purpose. She taught me to believe in something bigger than myself. She taught me to fight. To keep our world safe. And more recently, to keep it from dying. But the truth is we’re all dying. From the moment we’re born, we’re all dying. The universe is unspeakably cruel. Our one hope is that we can find some purpose, some meaning before that last day comes. Some happiness and love. Olivia was all of that to me. There was no one like her. But I will not cease to fight. Now that she’s gone I’m afraid I’m already lost. That we’re all lost. The world is a darker place without her.

  13. Wonderful words by Peter!  I felt connected to the scene without the eulogy, it does help add context and give Peter a chance to convey his emotions (which we don't see to often).  With the passing of a few relatives, who where my life and so much more, I have a heard time remembering what was said during those moments.

  18. I agree that we get very little about how Peter feels.

  19. *is thoroughly broken-hearted*
As a stand alone clip, I think I prefer this one; however, I like the final cut much better in the context of the episode.

  20. Agreed.  Less is more and including the full version would have really messed with the pacing of the episode.
