Also I'm adding a brief review by Simply Television.
Sometimes, BBC3 delivers a long lasting successful show. The likes of Being Human, Torchwood (it was good once upon a time, remember) and Gavin & Stacey all came from BBC3 so it is fair to say that each new show that comes from that channel deserves some optimism.
It took five minutes... just five minutes for me to realise The Fades had something special about it. The plot never relaxes, the directing is good and the acting is at least solid throughout. I am being quite reserved with these comments.
I was quite taken aback by the consistent quality of The Fades and I am extremely confident that BBC3 have a show that has the potential to match the progress of the shows I mentioned above . It is the best opening episode of this type of show that I have seen since The Walking Dead.
