  1. Awesome collection of winners!

Boardwalk Empire deserves every one of those 7 awards (possibly not casting, but I digress) and congratulations to the rest of the winners.

  2. Boardwalk Empire truly hammered its competition.

Of the 13 Emmys they were nominated for they won 7 - beating itself twice in the cinematography category and also losing to Mad Men (for hair styling) , The Bogias (for costumes), House (for sound mixing) and Game of Thrones (for title design).

Sign of things to come on Primetime Emmy night?

Boardwalk Empire has 5 more chances then:  Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama, Outstanding Series, and 2 chances at Outstanding Directing in a Drama,

It may well win 10 or 11 total!

  3. They will win Directing and Best Drama for sure.
Maybe even Lead Actor with Buscemi.

I like the series for sure, but this is a bit too much.
It's not "The Sopranos" or at least, not yet.

  6. You know, this was a show I put on the backburner, but I think I'll put it right at the top of my list now :). The only thing here that makes me angry is Gwyneth Paltrow's win on Glee. Quite undeserved. I think that her win was likely due to her being a movie star and the weird response TV audiences have to them.

  7. While I personally enjoyed Game of Thrones more, I think Season One of Boardwalk Empire was the best first season of a TV series I have ever seen personally. It was just so well done from beginning to end.

That said, I do think a couple of those awards could have gone to other series.. casting in particular. However, once you get to such a high level of achievement, it's hard to say this series is better than that series in a specific category and momentum or word of mouth sways the votes. I can't really fault any of BE's wins.

  8. Really?
I thought she was the best guest star of the season on Glee easily. Now that does not mean she was the best on all of TV necessarily, but I didn't have an issue with it honestly.

You really should check Boardwalk Empire out... It has some really great actors with great material in a pretty original setting. Top notch stuff to me.

  9. I did NOT see her performance this year, but she has always been great in that role.... and most of the roles she's done!

  10. The one I'm most happy about: Main Title Design | Game Of Thrones (HBO)

I had declared, when the noms came out that if they didn't win that one there would be no justice in this world. It's the best title sequence EVER and it absolutelly 100% deserved that win.

  11. It is brilliant. She has a multi- episode story arc but if you want the best of it then go to S7E17. Brilliantly acted. The scene is also well directed. I just watched it again, and she delivers a goose bump performance.

  12. Exactly.
When I saw last season of Game of Thrones I was positive the title sequence would win Best Title design.... and Dinklage would get a nomination.... I'm not as sure he will win, but at least he got the nomination!

  13. So glad Loretta Devine won :)
