  2. Locke not winning this would be a travesty

  3. I voted for John Locke the best character on tv !!!

  4. I love Rachel, but i vote for Lock and my love Elena Gilbert ;D

  5. Locke and Tyrion. No question, easiest poll of life. Now, as to whether Tyrion will win... That's another matter all together.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, Tyrion is by far the better character, but I too have my doubts that he will make it to the next round.  IMO, he should win this entire contest, but the bias for SPN on this site is so overwhelming that no other show has a chance.

I'd watch a show just about Tyrion.  Dinklage plays him perfectly.

  7. Voted for Locke and Tyrion

  8. It's the battle between characters I despise or don't know.  Besides the "all questions no answers" thing, John Locke was my least favorite thing about LOST.  Rachel, Kurt, and changing characters/plot to fit with song choices tie for the worst thing about Glee. Elena is no Stefan time drag, but she didn't inspire me to watch season 2 of Vampire Diaries either.  I haven't seen Game of Thrones and have no intention of watching it.  Curse it all - I vote my bracket.

    ReplyDelete
  9. No intention of watching it :O! Strong words lol. Why so not down?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Simple for me today.
John Locke was one of the best parts of LOST and....
Tyrion Lannister is one of the best characters on the best series on all of TV... Game of Thrones.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I thought the same thing.
The best new series of the year (according to 2 award shows now) and many, many award nominations and wins usually lead to a good series that is worth watching or at least trying.
I guess we all do watch TV for different things tho...

  12. Rachel for me, since I loathe Locke.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Locke & Tyrion.
I've only seen 2-3 episodes of glee but I find the character Rachel completely insufferable.

I like Elena alright but Tyrion was awesome this season!!

  14. HAHAHAHAHA!
You're so funny, Dahne. Of course you're going to watch it.
    ...Right? :(

  15. Locke and Tyrion, I love elana but gotta give it to the little guy with the big attitude!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. And, look at that. Westeros and WiC re-tweeted, so, Tyrion is currently in the lead. Shhhh, don't tell the hordes of CW fans xD.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm stunned that there are actually people on here who dislike Locke. IMO one of the greatest television characters ever.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Easy choices, glad the right ones are winning (as of now).

    ReplyDelete
  19. Completely agree. Locke was one of the best characters and most important on LOST.

Oddly it seems many people latch on to second-tier characters and feel they are the stars or something.

    ReplyDelete
  20. John Locke and Tyrion Lannister of course.

    ReplyDelete
  21. "All questions no answers"? Locke your least favorite thing? Did we watch the same LOST? :p

  22. In light of what you mentioned, I went back and looked at several years' worth of Emmy nominations.  What I found was that I could count the shows I enjoyed and were nominated on one hand, several of them didn't appeal to me at all with their subject matter or themes, and many that I outright disliked.  The fact that Game of Thrones is being critically praised is not a selling point to me.  I just scanned through years of House and Two and a Half Men getting Emmy nomination love.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nope.  I was skeptical about this show in the beginning so I went to a friend who knows me and my tastes well.  While she enjoys the show, she is convinced that I would not and so far she's batted 100%.  I have far too much to add on to my TV plate as it is and I don't plan to spend it on a show I am predisposed to dislike.  For me it's the same thing as knowing that Free Agents is never coming on my TV. Not my kind of thing.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I voted Locke and Gilbert.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Emmy noms would be the only thing GoT has in common with those 2 shows.

If you are squeamish about sex or violence, I can understand why you wouldn't like.  It has less sex and violence than True Blood, Rome or Spartacus, but more than Supernatural.

Theme wise, GoT is more like Rome but in a fantasy setting.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I thoroughly dislike nudity and excessive profanity on TV, but more than anything I detest incest.  I find that most HBO shows have frequent gratuitous nudity that adds nothing to the plot which turns me off very quickly from a show.  (True Blood especially)  Violence I can handle if it has meaning in the show, but turning violence into a fetish like Spartacus isn't for me either.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like well made series, but I don't like ALL well made series (or well nominated series).  Some people don't like any of the best made shows of the decade (Breaking Bad, Lost, Mad Men, The Wire, The Sopranos etc). We all have different tastes.

My point was not so much that you would like it because it's well-made or been nominated a lot... more that a well-made series often transcends our usual likes or dislikes because of the quality. A well done series is often worth a look in to see if you would like it or not. ESPECIALLY while only one season behind and in hiatus.

I don't like law series as a rule (I've liked 2 in my life), but I tried Suits to give it a chance and I ended up liking it quite a bit.

All that said, if your friend that knows you well thinks you won't like it... they're probably right.... (but you can't be certain unless you try it).

    ReplyDelete
  28. The men rule in this one for me. (Side note: How do people dislike/hate Locke? Always was fond of him. And the wonderful Terry O'Quinn.)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Locke & Tyrion.

Not voting for Tyrion means you either are a blind fanboy of Vampire Diaries or don't watch Game of Thrones. Simple as that.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah, it sounds like you would likely have a hard time getting past some things in order to enjoy what makes the show great.

My wife won't watch it either, because she has a hard time with cruelty.  That also prevents her from watching Supernatural, Vampire Diaries and such.

I am sorry she is missing out on what I consider the best show on tv, but she just can't get past the 1st episode.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I voted Locke & Tyrion! I'm sorry Elena :(

    ReplyDelete
  32. Locke, one of the best characters on tv. For the second poll, I didn't vote. Elena is meh to me, and I've never seen her competition.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Locke & Tyrion...though somehow I seem to miss every other poll.  :-(

    ReplyDelete
  34. Rachel (even though I put Locke on bracket) and Elena (I like her and i've never even heard of the other person).
Apparently Tyrion is popular though and if he wins my bracket will be more screwed..
Its annoying that I've never heard of Game of Thrones, cause I never know if the characters are going to be popular or not.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't like neither Locke or Rachel, so no vote in the 1st poll. In the 2nd voted for Elena, but I like Tyrion too :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. john lock and that little fella 4 me:D

    ReplyDelete
  37. I was probably foolish in my hopes that Tyrion would win it all, but I'm hoping that the love many people who hold for him will usurp one of the Supernatural and/or Lost characters (not that there's anything wrong with either of those shows, I love both).

    ReplyDelete
  38. Locke and Tyrion - because they may not be my favorite characters, but they're very important and very well played by the actors, so there goes my vote;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Right there with you. Locke and Tyrion!

But talk about a question of size fanbase. Not sure how strong the GoT fanbase is on SpoilerTV. I trust you're going to go get the Winter-is-Coming crowd, though. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wow I really thought Elena would be in the lead.  Surprise Surprise!  I voted for her anyway.  Locke that was a no brainier for me.  lol

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love when people recomment new shows to me and I´m always willing to check them out. Why not? there is no loss in doing so. But ofcourse you are not going to like it if you are negative from the start.

I started watching Deadwood a few weeks ago, because people in here talked so positive about it. Love it, and I´m so glad I gave it a fair chance (meaning that I watched more than just the pilot before I made up my mind).

Actually I´m a little dissapointed that Al Swearengen isn´t nominated in this character competition. I would vote for him any day.

    ReplyDelete
  42. agreed, Locke (Terry o´Quinn) played the best part of Lost. I don´t see how people can hate him. Maybe because he was a bit different. That is what made him so good in my eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  43. True! GoT is the best show on TV right now and Tyrion one of the best characters. You have to vote for Tyrion.

I´ll be so dissapointed if he doesn´t beat Elena.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I really thought Elena would go further than the first round. Now my bracket will be even more wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Locke (although I didn't watch LOST, but I can't stand Rachel Berry... XD) and Tyrion of course!!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, Al is one of my all-time favorite characters for sure.

Ian McShane took what could have been a fairly routine and typical badguy and gave him such nuance that it became an unforgettable performance.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love Elena, but she's kind of a cut & paste character where Tyrion has serious depth. And of course, John Locke.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's turning. Right now she's in the lead. Of course, that completely ruins my brackets, not that I'm surprised. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  49. If did not vote for Locke and Tyrion the world would be a better place if you killed yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yup, from now on I'll ignore these competitions. Seriously, a bland character part of a dumb, teenager show beating friggin' Tyrion Lannister? What a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Is Al the bad guy ???   Just joking...I love him so much that I tend to forget. :-)

Awesome show and awesome characters!  Ian McShane does a wonderful job. Would love to see him in some of my other favorite shows.

    ReplyDelete
  52. really???? Elena is beating Tyrion.......come on Tyrion fans.......

Tyrion is the best, really don´t want to see him getting beat this early in the competition.

    ReplyDelete
  53.  Today my votes go to Rachel and Elena.
I have to say that I like all four these shows.
I like Glee because it is funny, entertaining, relaxing and fresh. I didn't like 2nd season so much though. Rachel is one of my fave character from Glee. She is annoying sometimes, but she is also kind, brave and very special.
LOST is one of my favourite shows ever. But I can't stand John Locke. So I voted against him today.
I really like Game of Thrones. I thinks it's just because I loved Martin's fantasy saga from the start. But honestly I don't like Tyrion at all. So my vote goes to Elena.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Or option 3: you expected Elena to win despite who you think is the better character, but upon seeing Tyrion's surprising lead over Elena, voted for her to try to help out your bracket.

That was my case anyway, and I like Tyrion (though I'm not a fan of the series). I've also never seen more than the first couple of episodes of The Vampire Diaries (i.e., the bad episodes), but I know how beloved it is on this site.

    ReplyDelete
  55. It's an amazing HBO show, based on a series of books by George R.R. Martin.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Go Tyrion! The only decent Lannister.

    ReplyDelete
  57. No debate whatsoever. Locke.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Tyrion all the way!!! (can't believe he's loosing to Elena...) He's one of the best characters both in the show and the books. He has a colorful personality, great sense of irony and humour and is able to deal with every difficulty that appears on his way. Being faithful to his family, which he loves, he also shows warm feelings to all Jon, Bran and Sansa, he never wanted Ned to die, slaps Joffrey whenever he has occasion to, is very clever and actually brave. I love the character to pieces, probably one of my top 3 of GoT.

    ReplyDelete
  59. While I agree about the Emmy nominations not equaling quality TV, Game of Thrones is really good. REALLY. The characters are so colorful, various, some of them mysterious and many of them with an awesome potential to grow, that you just can't be bored for a second, even in the low-action episodes. The writing, costumes, acting and locations are mostly breathtaking and what I really like, it's very faithful to the book (which I read only AFTER watching the series). Unless you strongly detest medieval fantasy, I'd say you should give it a shot.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I strongly detest incest and gratuitous nudity.  I'm fine with medieval fantasy.

    ReplyDelete
  61. OMG! how  could Tyrion lose?? I'm shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O

    ReplyDelete
  62. Oh Elena, how I hate you right now.

    ReplyDelete
  63. OMG Elena won! I was so sure that I'd come back today to look at my bracket and it would be completely ruined. But its not now, because she won, yay =)

    ReplyDelete
  64. John Locke, of course, and Tyrion.  "The Vampire Diaries" sucks. Teen stupid show.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I've never seen Spartacus but a few times GoT was too much even for me (violence wise, not really nudity-wise) but I would say that even the very worst thing I saw in the show had an extremely important meaning behind it. (actually it was a huge event in the finale that it foreshadowed) but yes, there is stuff like that you have mentioned, like incest. However the incest is vital to the storyline of the Lannisters. That's the one thing about GoT, everything stands for something or leads directly to another plotline. Some awful things happen but it's for dramatic effect and added emphasis on who these characters are. Also, to miss this show would mean you'd miss Peter Dinklage's incredible turn as Tyrion.

    ReplyDelete
  66. For the love of good taste, please don't subject Game of Thrones to being equated to Free Agents. I mean I get that you dislike the intensity of certain shows (usually HBO!) but that's just wrong.

Also, I would probably agree that it is too much for you, (it's almost too much for me, really) but watching the first season was one of the greatest tv experiences I've had in years for all the characters and the amazing story they are setting up. This is one of those stories bathed in wisdom and every single line just gives you chills. There's a great deal of mystery, a looming evil that is downright terrifying, and so many people with so many motives it's just amazing. After the finale (which literally has done something NO other show I am aware of has done before!!!!!) I immediately went out and bought the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th books.

I just had to get that out. The majesty and incredible depth this story will grow to  will easily make GoT one of the best series of tv history if it stays on this trajectory.. :D

Having said that, there's some things that happen that I'm pretty certain you just couldn't handle.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I voted for Locke and Tyrion. I´m so happy I didn´t have to choose between the two.

Locke was always my favorite Lost character, and one of my favorite characters overall.

Tyrion is such an awesome character. He has the most wonderful story (a lot yet to come).
