The 2011 STV Character Competition - R1 - Day 2 - Peter Bishop (Fringe) vs. Patrick Jane (The Mentalist) & Meredith Grey (Greys Anatomy) vs. Walter White (Breaking Bad)

Hey guys,

Day one of the competition is completed and we had a strong victory for Katherine Pierce over Richard Cypher sending The Vampire Diaries' first character into round two. In the other, much closer poll Benjamin Linus saw off the tough challenge of a Whedon creation in Willow Rosenberg from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Considering the strength Buffy showed in the recent best show competition it is a good start for the LOST character.

Today sees some of the pre-competition front-runners beginning their run for the title, with Peter Bishop of Fringe challenging Patrick Jane of The Mentalist as well as Meredith Grey of Grey's Anatomy taking on Walter White of the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad. Can the recently disappeared Bishop Jr. find a way to beat the cunning Jane? Can the acclaimed Walter White find a way to beat the network blockbuster that Meredith Grey headlines?

All will be revealed today!

For anyone new to the competition The rules of the competition are simple. Every day there will be a new set of polls between characters who are bidding to become the winner of the second STV Character Competition.

All you have to do is to vote for whichever characters are your favourite and at the end of the 24 hours whichever character has more votes will be the winner and will progress into the next round. There are three rounds before the quarter finals, semi finals and then the final...

Don't forget to tweet, facebook, google+ and spread the word about the characters and shows you love to try and boost your chances of winning.

    I voted for Patrick Jane in the first poll, because I absolutely adore this character, but it really wasn`t easy to vote against Peter! In the second poll, I went with Walter White, even so I never watched Breaking Bad, but I just can`t stand Meredith....

    Patrick Jane gets my vote. He's sweet, simpatico, attractive and good at his job.
    I can't say the same for the other contender.

    I'm a huge Fringe fan so I'm sure there's at least one or two people wondering why I didn't vote for him.  Unfortunately, the reason is this: 

    Fringe usually writes all the best stuff for their other main characters.  Patrick Jane gets better material.

    Peter Bishop all the way in the first poll, I really can't stand 'The Mentalist' as a show. I've no real opinion on the second poll as I don't watch Grey's Anatomy or Breaking Bad, so I voted with my bracket and went for Meredith Grey.

    I don't expect Walter White to make it past two where he would be defeated by Peter Bishop, but I can't believe he's losing.  There's a reason Bryan Cranston has 3 Emmys and yes I know this isn't an Actor competition but he is terrific as Walter White.

    Sorry for the mini rant.  I love these competitions, but I also get frustrated a lot lol 

    Oh and I voted for Peter & Walter.

    I watch the Mentalist and have never watched Fringe as it has always been on the same time as my favorite show, Supernatural.  I have never watched Grey's Anatomy or Breaking Bad and would not know who to vote for.

    Peter Bishop by a universe.  I watched season 1 of The Mentalist this summer because it was recommended on this site.  It became my second least favorite show of all of them I watched, solely because of Patrick Jane's arrogance.  He annoyed me to no end so that all I could do was feel sorry for Lisbon.

    I have no opinion in the second match.

    I too dislike The Mentalist.  Normally if a show is really popular and it is not reality TV I like at least key aspects of the show.  However, my dislike of Patrick Jane as a character influences how I view everything on it.  I watched a full season because I always want to give shows a fair shot before I review them, but yikes, this one was difficult.
