Choices are made. Sides are chosen. In a thrilling episode of White Collar.
Lots of TV shows give you the promise of “this is the best episode yet”, “the most thrilling” etc. These usually turn out to be a let-down. But has White Collar lived up to its own expectations?
In this instance the guys at White Collar can turn around and say “we told you so”. This has to be one of the best episodes of White Collar to date. It has everything you would expect and love from White Collar and they’ve managed to roll it all into one episode.
We go into the finale with Mozzie and Neal still at ends and trying to figure out what to do about the treasure after the climax of the previous episode. As Neal predicted, the degas is the main focus of the FBI and the focus of the story for this episode. However this episode is all about sides and choices.
Peter and Neal are both having doubts about what choices they have to make. Does Peter trust Neal and go against his instincts or does he listen to his mentor (Agent Kramer played by the excellent Beau Bridges) and try to prove Neal has the treasure.
Neal has similar choices does he choose Mozzie and the treasure or his life with Peter and the FBI. Mozzie however makes the choice harder for Neal by giving him a 48 hour ultimatum. With Peter hot on his heals Neal starts to feel the pressure.
As an audience we feel the tension and the pressure as the episode builds up and Peter and Neal play their mind games and move their pieces into place trying to outwit the other. This is one of the things I love about the show, the dynamic between Peter and Neal and them having a battle of the minds. The writers certainly don’t let us down in the build up to the climax.
Tim DeKay and Matt Bomer really have outdone themselves this episode, they really are the stars of the show and make it hard for us as viewers to pick a side. The writers have created a fun and fast paced episode that has you on the edge of your seat. Beau Bridges is brilliant as soon as he appears as Kramer. He is what Peter would be without Elisabeth and Neal bringing out his emotions. I look forward to him appearing in future episodes.
The Cliff-hanger, everyone has been talking about it. In the interview with Tiffani Thiessen last week she said it was big. I went into the episode expecting the cliff-hanger and when the last 5 minutes of the episode came for the first time in a long time I was nervous and excited. I promise you all IT DELIVERS.
I wish I could say more, but to even mention it would spoil it. However below are a few teasers that don’t give anything away but will be fun to watch out for.
