The Walking Dead - Yeun on Darabont's Departure

The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun has spoken out about the departure of showrunner Frank Darabont.

Darabont recently stepped down from his role on the zombie drama, with reports suggesting that he was fired after objecting to budget cuts.

Speaking at the 2011 Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention, Yeun said: "The information is out [and] you can find the information that you're looking for. [But] I can't speak much more about the logistics of what has happened in the upper echelons of the show."

Yeun, who plays Glenn, insisted that The Walking Dead has not "suffered" as a result of the behind-the-scenes changes.

"We still, as a cast, show up to work every day and absolutely kill it," he claimed. "We have our hearts on the ground, on the set, on every single take."

He continued: "There are professionals [working] on our show and people have seen the first couple episodes [of season two] and... have walked away saying, 'This is the best television show on TV'."

Darabont's former deputy Glen Mazzara will now serve as showrunner on The Walking Dead for the remainder of the second season.
