Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins talked to the press today. After showing some previews for Homeland (watch it here) and Dexter season 6 (the Comic-con trailer), and also a sneak-peek for House of Lies, he answered some questions about Showtime's new series. Here's what he had to say.
About season 2 of The Borgias (no premiere date yet) : 10 episodes have been ordered (instead of 9 for the first season). This new season will be about how power corrupts, more famous figures will pop up it will be more violent and visceral than season 1.
About their new comedy House of Lies (starting on January 8th) : It is both glossy and subversive, they want to score with R-rated comedy.
About their new drama Homeland (starting on October 2nd) : It will touch on dangerous themes, this show is going to freak some people out.
About 100 Bullets : They're working on the script right now, it's important to them but they haven't ordered a pilot yet, much less a series.
About United States of Tara's cancellation : They cancelled the show because sometimes you have to make decisions about where to deploy your ressources and the show had accomplished what it had to accomplish.
About Savages (the new Oliver Stone documentary series) : He's working on it now, it will air at some point in 2012, it will have 10 episodes, and so far Stone has completed five of them.
About Laughing Stock (the new Steve Carell-produced documentary series) : Each episode will feature an in-depth interview of a stand-up comedian, this show will premiere in 2012.
