Upcoming Shows Development Spreadsheet *Updated 27th March 2024*
28 Mar 2024
Industry News SpoilerTV ArticlesUpdate: 10th February 2021 We've improved the table so that it works better on mobile and has pagination that you can change to suit your screen size etc.
Update: 9th July 2020 We've updated our Development Watch Table with a new Interactive Version. The new table below allows the following functionality.
1) Clicking on the Column Headers will sort by that column
2) Entering text into Search box will filter rows that match your text. eg typing ABC will show only ABC shows or descriptions with ABC. Typing Mystery will find all shows that have the word Mystery in their description etc
3) Shows that have been entered/updated in the last 90 days are highlighted in green and marked as recent, shows over 365 day without an update are greyed out.
If you find any errors/omissions, or have any questions please let us know in the comments below.
Hey All,
Just wanted to alert you to this new feature here at SpoilerTV. We're going to try tracking all the potential upcoming shows/scripts that are currently being developed by the major networks. A lot of these shows never see the light of day, however a number of them get taken to pilot and then if the pilot goes well get taken to series. (Once a show gets ordered to series it gets added to the main SpoilerTV site)
A big thanks to The Futon Critic for supplying the bulk of the initial data back in 2012.
We hope to keep this table updated regularly and if you have any comments/suggestions please let us know in the comments.
So take a look through this large list and let us know if you spot any hidden gems that sound interesting or if you find any shows that sound like real stinkers.
You can view a full screen version here
thanks for this! it gets confusing at times so a reference is a fantastic idea
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. Thank you for doing this.
ReplyDeleteMore shows in the works we can mock or love the idea of and be annoyed when it doesn't get to pilot even. XD
ReplyDeleteLike this feature, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis is really interesting, thanks.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I didn't even know that there were so many scripts up and running. I mean, fair enough, but I haven't heard about any of them yet. Great idea guys/Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea thanks
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea! I love getting all my TV info from SpoilerTV. So far I've gotten my info from Futon Critic but I'd prefer if I'd get that from here. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGrave Sight, really? All the sh!t after Ghost Whisperer couldn't beat it. Not this Friday ghost show now, nor this will be as great as GW was. Color me annoyed...
ReplyDeleteThis is a great feature, love it!
ReplyDeletewow! there are so many! thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great feature. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteWow. That's a lot of info to pour over. Wait. ABC is actually developing something called BAMF?
ReplyDeleteHa, indeed, although I'm sure the title will be changed lol
ReplyDeleteWow thanks for putting this together. I really had no idea how many of them there were in a year.
ReplyDeleteYep and these are just the ones that go to script :)
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you could make this Google Docs spreadsheet publicly available (read-only, of course), so we could add it to our Google Docs for easier tracking,
ReplyDeleteYou should have access now
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThe CW's Acting out is a comedy not a Drama according to Deadline
ReplyDeleteand i have a suggestion is it possible to seperate scrip/pilot and series orders in different tabs?
ReplyDeleteThanks Ivan, I'll add it to our list of things to consider.
ReplyDeletewhat about adding The Sex and The City Prequel that was announced yesterday and also announced Via Deadline.com are The Asset has been ordered to a Pilot and has Nabed Josh Freidman in it
ReplyDeleteIt's updated now (there are quite a few more shows added) and we will keep it as up to date as possible, but sometimes it's going to take us a few days to add all the new information...
ReplyDeleteWow. What a great addition. :)
ReplyDeleteI was needing something like this, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for putting this together. It's amazing to see how many ideas/scripts are out there vying for a chance at life...
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteyou guys are working real hard.. it should be like the encyclopedia of TV shows .. very much appreciated guys
ReplyDeleteYeah, 10 days ago I didn't expect that we would have almost 300 shows in that list now.
ReplyDeleteWow a lot of information.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, literally read all of these :) Thank you so much for doing this :)
ReplyDelete*Just a note, under Showtime the names for Vinyl and The Damned have been switched, and Showtime is also developing this :) (100 Bullets) http://www.deadline.com/2011/06/showtime-teams-with-david-goyer-for-drama-based-on-comic-book-100-bullets/
Thanks Bob, will update now.
ReplyDeleteI may be wrong as well, but I believe Hit and Miss (Sky1) has got a six episode order, and has started filming already :)
ReplyDeleteCool, I'll try to confirm.
ReplyDeleteYou may also add "DaVinci's Demons" for Starz, search it on Deadline for proof.
ReplyDeleteThanks Adrian, we'll take a look.
ReplyDeleteI've been way too busy with other stuff recently, but after my vacation next week, I will take a detailed look on all the shows and add what's missing.
ReplyDeleteNo worries at all :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
ReplyDeleteHobgoblin: A drama about a group of conmen and magicians who battle Hitler and the Nazis in WWII.
ReplyDeleteUm, wtf lol?
Wow, that'sa ton of ideas floating around. Thanks for making this available.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it :)
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at how many shows there are at the 'being considered for a pilot' stage. So of those that actually do get that far only a few are then given episode orders, adn yet the TV execs still manage to get it wrong with a handful of shows failing after only a couple of episodes. Funny business really.
ReplyDeleteHas 'How to Cheat on Your Wife' been ordered to series? I thought it was only a pilot, but I may be wrong.
ReplyDeleteAMC picked it up to series last month
ReplyDeleteGreat update!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea, but its going to take my old eyes a while to finish going thru this.Wish the print was a little larger.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, this is feature is really awesome!
ReplyDeleteMake sure you click here to go to the full spreadsheet
ReplyDeletehttp://bit.ly/STVDevelopmentWatch
Most modern day browsers let your change the Zoom level to suit your needs
Out of all of these shows, I most want The Hollows to be picked up by The CW.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy! I guess i didn't read the info thoroughly. :)
ReplyDeleteI think there's a mix up between The Carrie Diaries ans Trigger ;)
ReplyDeleteHa, no worries
ReplyDeleteGreat feature! I hadn't seen it before, but (a very belated) thanks for posting it!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really, really great! And like somebody said I would like to have faeture wheter or not a series is going to be ordered or not. That would be great to keep traces of concepts that you like.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it.
ReplyDeleteThere should be a tab on the bottom called "Ordered to Series" or something. When a show is ordered it will move to that tab
good feature!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and awesome stuff, thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove it, just wish did not have to scroll sideways to see it all, by the time I get all the way to the right, I have forgotten what show I am looking at. LOL
ReplyDeleteClick the link in the post to open the whole spreadsheet.
ReplyDeleteDUH (head slap), thanks that is much better.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome list, don't know how I missed it when you started it 3 months ago. I've only gotten through ABC so far, but a few typos I've noticed so far:
ReplyDeleteMI-5 and a few of the shows around it have their descriptions mixed up.
The Buffalos has the description from The Joneses.
The Packaged Deal & The Singles have their descriptions mixed.
Thanks Baff, hopefully Ivan can fix those when he does his next update
ReplyDeleteSo far I'm exited about the pilot for "The Kids are Alright" for HBO. That was a great film. I just hope they can get all the same actors. Without Mark Ruffalo, Annette Benning, Julianne Moore, and the kids (too lazy to look up their names) it just wouldn't be the same.
ReplyDeleteAbout half of the shows in the CW section have their descriptions mixed up.
ReplyDeletedo you know which ones by any chance so i can fix it?
ReplyDeleteany chance you can help me fix these cause i have no ideas which ones are which from the ones that are mixed up i didnt notice this til it was pointed out just now
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this!
ReplyDeleteActing Out description should goto Camp.
ReplyDeleteCamp description should goto Chloe.
Chloe description should goto Confessions of a Backup Dancer.
Confessions of a Backup Dancer description should goto Hawkshaw.
Hawkshaw description should goto Prickly Spheres.
Prickly Spheres description should goto Raven.
Raven description is correct.
The rest of the CW shows look to be right, but not positive.
Found a couple more in CW.
ReplyDeleteThe Carrie Diaries description should goto Trigger.
Trigger description should goto The Carrie Diaries.
Didn't notice any problems in the Fox section, but I didn't look closely at every entry.
ReplyDeleteThough, I don't see Zombieland listed there. There was news last month of a possible Fox tv show that would pick up where the movie left off.
The NBC section looks fine, except that The Munsters is listed twice (once toward the top, once toward the bottom).
ReplyDeleteIt was tough getting through the NBC shows as there are a ton of cringe-worthy ones in there. Half of those shows should never have gotten to the script stage.
Didn't see any more mix-ups in the rest of the list.
ReplyDeleteThough, here are a few shows you may (or may not) want to add to the Syfy section: Booster Gold, Ghost Projekt, Seeing Things, Three Inches, Me & Lee, Battlestar Galactic: Blood & Chrome.
Also a couple possible shows that don't belong to any network (as far as I know): Pandemonium, Afterlife, and Tales From The Crypt.
i must have accidently listed it twice when it got announced as a pilot i think i added it again i will delete the other one
ReplyDeleteokay thanks for your help but keep in mid these are shows from the 2012-2013 season on this list do you know what devolopment stage that Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome is at?
ReplyDeleteokay thank you and do you have a link to the Zombieland news and do you know what devolopment stage it's at?
ReplyDeletethanks you i have fixed all of the CW i'll be spending the next couple of Days hopefully less on ABC
ReplyDeleteA pilot was made. Syfy keeps flipping back and forth between doing it as a series, mini-series, web series, tv movie, etc. I don't know where it stands right now, Syfy hasn't been very forthcoming recently.
ReplyDeleteGoogling "zombieland tv" brings up 1000 articles from last month, here is one:
ReplyDeletehttp://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/10/zombieland-may-rise-again-as-a-tv-series.html
these are fixed now hopefully theres no more mistakes for ABC
ReplyDeletedo you have any info on Pandemonium, Afterlife, and Tales From The Crypt. like devolopment stage, plot, cast, crew cause i like to atleast have a devolopment stage before i add it to this spreadsheet or have an article where it has info on these shows
ReplyDeleteand do you have any info on Ghost Projekt and seeing things such as Devolopment stage, plot, crew i like to have atleast devolopment stage and plot before i add it to the chart
ReplyDeletePandemonium was optioned 3 months ago, don't know if it has gone beyond that:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.themarysue.com/darren-aronofsky-pandemonium/
Afterlife was in the script stage 4 months ago:
http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/07/18/ricky-gervais-dexter-afterlife/
Tales From the Crypt was being shopped around 4 months ago"
http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/07/18/ricky-gervais-dexter-afterlife/
Here is an article on several of the possible Syfy shows:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.cinemablend.com/television/Syfy-Adds-Three-Scripted-Series-Including-Comic-Adaptation-Ghost-Projekt-36867.html
and these are all from Syfy?
ReplyDeleteWOW HOW many hearts will break !!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I don't seem to be the only one who's surprised at just HOW many ideas for new shows there are. Wow Oo this feature is a really nice idea. But since I didn't notice it any earlier than now, I'll need some more time to read through all of it XDD
ReplyDeleteawesome
ReplyDeletethanx!!!
That's a lot of shows. Thanks so much for the list!
ReplyDeletecan you make it like the Development Watchlist so you can open it bigger?
ReplyDeleteChris, try this link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_GB&hl=en_GB&key=0AsWGamNXh2iwdHpmc1BRRUxJck9xcTk2WklOeDBBZnc&output=html
ReplyDeleteVikings is for History Channel
ReplyDeleteokay thanks for the info i'll change it tomorrow
ReplyDeleteEvery time I read "Development" I think it is a new Arrested Development post and my soul sores a little.... Only to crash back to earth when I realize it's not.... Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Will you make a similar post with the trailers later?
ReplyDeleteTrailers for which shows?
ReplyDeleteI hope they keep the title and that they get Samuel L Jackson, hahaha.
ReplyDeleteWell, they could keep the title if they are doing "Dumb F*uck"
Intercept & The Damned get me WET.
ReplyDeleteOn the latest update, their is a repeat on the ABC section.
ReplyDeleteUntitled Richman/zabel Drama is put twice, the other time being 'Finn and Sawyer'
Thanks Josh, I've just fixed this.
ReplyDeleteFor the new ones!
ReplyDeleteThese are shows in Development, they have not yet even been ordered to pilot in most cases.
ReplyDeleteI know, just for the ones that the trailers are released, you know all in one! That would be a neat post :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't understand.. it's been a long day lol
ReplyDeleteAll the promos that have been release have already been posted on the site. Are we missing any?
What happened to the LA Noir Show?
ReplyDeleteIt's already been ordered to Pilot I believe.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way I can watch a full screen version of this spreadsheet?
ReplyDeleteTry this link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AsWGamNXh2iwdHpmc1BRRUxJck9xcTk2WklOeDBBZnc&output=html
ReplyDeletethanks... i was going crazy scrolling horizontally with every line :D
ReplyDeleteI saw a promo for a show "Chase" that I've never heard anything about. Does anyone know what the deal it?
ReplyDeleteCan anyone explain what the difference between a Put Pilot and regular Pilot order? And which commitment is better for the writers?
ReplyDeleteput pilot -- A deal to produce a pilot that includes substantial penalties if the pilot is not aired; a virtual guarantee that a pilot will be picked up;
ReplyDeleteABC FINALLY GAVE THE GO AHEAD TO REBEL WILSON'S SUPER FUN NIGHT!!!
ReplyDeleteA pilot order is better not all put pilot gets actual pilot orders a put pilot means it has higher priority then other projects but does not guarantee.pilot order but they pay a penalty meaning that if it doesn't get the green light for pilot they still get paid for it
ReplyDeleteWell it's not a guarantee for a pilot order but it does have higher priority then projects with script or script with penalty orders
ReplyDeleteA lot of crime dramas, robots, and aliens. I don't understand why so many crime drama ideas still form and how the ones that exist do. There are so many, it's kinda boring when they're similar.
ReplyDeleteI wish there would be more original ideas that could survive.
thats the problem i find with CBS they only create 3 type of shows sitcoms cop drama and legal dramas they very rarely think outside the box and take risks or try something new
ReplyDeleteThank you for clearing it up for me.
ReplyDeleteAh, i see. Thanks. You are doing a great job by the way, this spreadsheet is very useful.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Ideas seem to be recycled time and time again recently. Hopefully this development season takes a turn towards the better and we get to see some more inspirational and unique ideas. CBS seems to have grown slightly out of its comfort zone with 'Elementary' which isn't a typical CBS-esque procedural drama, but hopefully they attempt to branch out more this time around.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure. But the thanks goes to Ivan who maintains it all :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous should by under FOX not ABC.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann, should be fixed now.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the spy chick that's posing as a nanny?? I think it premiers in this month. I can't remember where exactly is it, I'm sure is on cable, though.
ReplyDelete*checking-googling*
Hunted! on Cinemax
Ella, these are shows in Development. They have not been made yet. Some have not even been given the go-ahead to start filming.
ReplyDeleteYes yes.. I got confused and realized it too late :)
ReplyDeleteWith the ratings CBS get (or at least used to get from last year), I can understand why.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, its just a little hard to navigate cos you can't see the whole chart. But still pretty awesome
ReplyDelete@disqus_2UbrlKeSV9:disqus Did you click the link for the full screen version?
ReplyDeleteanother one -Meridian Hills (CW) Produced by Mila Kunis
ReplyDeletehttp://www.deadline.com/2012/11/mila-kunis-to-produce-1970s-feminist-drama-project-for-the-cw/
even there cop shows are down a lot so they need to take more risks to get a big hit like ABC has with Revenge and Once Upon a Time even Hawaii Five-0 took a huge hit this season
ReplyDeleteReally hope CW pick up Battle Royale
ReplyDeletethis is awesome, thanks
ReplyDeleteEarlier this year AMC announced three new series (Sacred Games, Thunderstruck and an untitled diamond trade drama), has there been any updates regarding their status
ReplyDeleteHi @disqus_vsD5Rq90iF:disqus I've not heard much about them since then. I'll see if there are any new updates.
ReplyDeleteWhy wasn't "The Originals" TVD spin-off added to the CW
ReplyDeleteBecause we're human and have not had the time yet.
ReplyDeleteyes an it will be added this week i'm currently working on a couple updates so you should see it added by the end of the week
ReplyDeleteunfortunly CW President Mark Pedowitz has confirmed the project id dead :(
ReplyDeletethat's a shame :(
ReplyDeletesorry guys, but thanks for adding it now :)
ReplyDeleteUnder 'assumed dead' a shoe has a status of script, what does that mean when 'in development' pilot was ordered?
ReplyDeletethen it gets moved back over to "In Devolopment" this is just in case any more pilots get ordered late they will be removed after upfronts
ReplyDeleteWhen new spreadsheet for next year will be posted?
ReplyDelete@sosokuratishvili This is a on going task, there is no "next year". It will be updated as and when we get info.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you so much for this :) it's awesome!
ReplyDeleteOur pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI found it very useful & informative.Thank you http://www.alahadgroup.com
ReplyDeleteWill the Flash plans of CW be added here soon? :D
ReplyDeleteShould be there :)
ReplyDeleteI can already see ABC picking up "You're doing it wrong" and "You're not doing it right" and pair them together.
ReplyDeleteOooh there it is. Thanks. I love this feature, by the way :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you find it useful :)
ReplyDeleteDon't hesitate if you see anything missing/wrong to let us know. We try to keep it as accurate and up to date as possible ;)
Is that a typo for the ABC Comedy "Dumb Fu*k"? LOL
ReplyDeleteHa no that's the name. Although it will be changed it if ever gets picked up lol
ReplyDeletelearn seo in english.
ReplyDeleteseo
like Matthew answered I didnt even know that a person can
ReplyDeletemake $7030 in one month on the internet. have a peek at this website www.JAM20.â„‚om
what about Constantine ?
ReplyDeleteIt should be in the table. I can see it
ReplyDeleteWow...That's a lot of shows.
ReplyDeleteMost of these will never see the light of day (i.e. they won't go past the development stage)
ReplyDeleteI know, but it's still cool to see how many people come up with!
ReplyDeleteHi, is there news about 'Wayward Pines' serie?? I heard it was in development and I like to know some more because I'm now reading the books...
ReplyDeleteIt's already been ordered to Series.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
ReplyDeleteIt's planned to air in the summer.
ReplyDeleteOh... I cant see it =(
ReplyDeleteThis is normally the result of you having a corrupt cookie in your Browser. Clear your browsers Cookie and Cache and then refresh the page and the table should then be shown.
ReplyDeleteSuper, this will be fun to watch and see how things go for a show.
ReplyDeleteIs there some way to get rid of the columns on the right side of page so we don't have to scroll to see it all?
ReplyDeleteNot sure what you mean?
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want to see those columns, then don't scroll right?
Or am I mis-understanding your question?
When I bring the Show Dev page up on the right side I have Popular Post, Fan Showcase, Buzz, Recent Comments, etc. Any way to close them or move them so Show Dev page can be seen without scrolling? I can get rid of them using Adblock but then can't see the page I am after. ;)
ReplyDeleteNo sorry.
ReplyDeleteCan you not simply open the spreadsheet up fullscreen?
DUH!! OK just used the link in the article..thanks for waking me up. lol
ReplyDeleteHa cool
ReplyDeleteI think the CW will pull 90210, Cult and Carrie, which alone opens up three slots. Hopefully filled by the Originals (I don't watch TVD but I know this will get picked up) The Selection (neeeds to be picked up!) and Oxygen (tho the casting is poor) Maybe they will produce afew of these pilots for the summer? IDK
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that Battle Royale is here like last year... Or is it from last year's scripts? I thought it was dead
ReplyDeleteIn this list are the series in development that was ordered last year or the series that was ordered until this list has begun? The assets have already begun in january 2014. I wait for your answer please. And good job.
ReplyDeleteThanks @disqus_ylz5Uo5sVN , yes we'll be updating this shortly to remove any of the picked up or cancelled pilots.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, Breed, Ed McBain’s 87th Precinct, Fix-It Men, Kali, President X and The Shop in development by TNT.
ReplyDeleteThe first one "The 36" sounds exactly like Touch
ReplyDeleteMy Parents Are Too Fucking Happy comedy from NBC. Well you know that title's not staying.
ReplyDeleteJust a question. Why do some of my post go on hold, waiting for approval, and others go right through? My e-mail & Disqus account has been verified.
ReplyDeleteCould be a number of things. Disqus being busy, the use of restricted words etc.
ReplyDeleteRobert Kirkman's Outcast for Cinemax.
ReplyDeletehttp://screenrant.com/outcast-comic-book-tv-show-robert-kirkman-cinemax/
I'm also keeping an eye on a couple of shows in early development, that don't have networks yet. Gary Oldman's The Diabolic and Max Brooks' Extinction Parade
Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for these.
ReplyDeleteI've just added a submission form to the above article. Would you be so kind to use that form to submit any missing shows so we can better track things and not miss any new shows. It makes it easier rather than having to keep going through all the comments :)
Sure. Sorry i missed that form, i scrolled immediately down to the spreadsheet. I get tunnel vision sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteHa, no worries. I only added the form an hr ago :)

ReplyDeleteI loved the problem child movies growing up. It could be a really good fit with about a boy.
ReplyDeleteAny chance they could be sorted by network rather then alphabetically? I think it'd look cleaner.
ReplyDeleteAh, I thought I had. Let me refresh and resort.
ReplyDeleteThe Phoenix Project sounds interesting and Dorothy must die has to happen at the cw.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking ABC picks up Big Stop. And Bagel Nation if both Crustela and Fresh Off the Boat are cancelled
ReplyDelete
