Misfits - US Remake Still in the Talks

Misfits' executive producer Murray Ferguson has confirmed that there are talks about remaking the show in the US.

Howard Overman, who created the hit superhero drama, has previously admitted that he was unsure about making an American adaptation.

However, Ferguson has now told reporters at the Monte Carlo Television Festival that it is a possibility.

"There has been interest in America about making an American version," he said. "We so far haven't made any decisions on that.

"We're obviously interested but if we do do that we want to make sure that we retain all the essential, key ingredients of the show that make it successful over here while recognising that if it's for an American audience it might have to be slightly different culturally."

Ferguson added: "We are going to go and talk next month in LA to a couple of key people that we think would be good partners and who are very keen to do it with us. Hopefully it will work out. I'm optimistic - we'll see."

Ferguson also revealed that he is not concerned about the precedent set by the US remake of Skins, which was recently dropped after one season.

"I think Skins had very specific issues in America which relate to that show and not to ours," he said. "I think we just have to be aware of the cultural differences and make sure we can make a show that we're happy with."

Meanwhile, Ferguson revealed that the original British version of Misfits will soon be airing on the US streaming website Hulu and described the news as an "exciting development".

The third series of Misfits is currently being filmed and will air in the UK later this year.
