Pretty Little Liars - Episode 2.07 - Surface Tension - Press Release

LOOK WHO’S COMING TO DINNER,
IN AN ALL NEW EPISODE OF “PRETTY LITTLE LIARS,”
TUESDAY, JULY 26th AT 8:00 PM ET/PT ON ABC FAMILY

Burbank, CA (Wednesday, June 29, 2011) – The Liars are ill at ease when they each have to confront complicated matters in “Surface Tension,” an all new episode of ABC Family’s hit original series, “Pretty Little Liars,” premiering Tuesday, July 26th (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT).

Its moving day for Emily, and with a new place to call home, she is feeling more like a guest than part of the family. Hanna is also feeling uneasy, but for her it is in regard to Caleb’s continued shady “business” dealings and his nonchalant attitude about it. And when Toby makes a surprising discovery, Spencer is thrown for a loop by the find and her father’s reaction to it. With the girls already on edge, could they be sitting targets for “A’s” next move? Or does “A” have bigger plans for the four and is just making them wait?

Meanwhile, Aria is put in a tricky position when both Ezra and Jason are invited to the Montgomery dinner party and vie for her attention when the soiree goes awry.

“Pretty Little Liars” is produced by Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television and is executive produced by I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick and Leslie Morgenstein. The series stars Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Holly Marie Combs, Lucy Hale, Ian Harding, Laura Leighton, Chad Lowe, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse.

Rookie Blue - Episode 2.01 - Butterflies - Recap & Review

Serve, Protect & "shots fired!"

Hi everyone, I've been lurking on this site for a while but have decided that it's time to have more of a presence. This is my very first blog post ever.
This site is such a great way for TV fans to connect with one another I thought I would write about my favourite show- Rookie Blue.
For those of you not familiar with the show it's a Canadian creation airing on ABC in the States & Global TV in Canada. It follows the training period (which can be as long as five years) of five new police recruits or 'rookies' as they find their feet in 'fifteen division' in Toronto. The show has a stellar cast of mostly Canadian talent, I first started watching this show when it aired here at the start of the year & it quickly became my favourite, the thing I like about Rookie Blue is that it's very character driven, the stories are well executed & there really is something for everyone, it has action, drama, humour even romance thrown in for good measure. The first season did extremely well, it was picked up for a second season after only three episodes had aired & it was the most watched debut season of any previous Canadian scripted show in the last twenty years. I thoroughly enjoyed the first season & I encourage you to rent/buy the DVD's & give it a chance, don't write it off as 'just another cop show' cos it may just surprise you.

At the end of last season Officer Diaz played by Travis Milne was stabbed during a surveillance task with Gail Peck played by Charlotte Sullivan. Andy McNally played by Missy Peregrym had just completed an undercover sting with her now former TO (training officer) Sam Swarek played by Ben Bass, Traci Nash played by Enuka Okuma had reconciled with her former partner to make a go of it for her son & Dov Epstein played by Gregory Smith had been dumped by his stripper girlfriend. Eventhough there's undeniable chemistry between Andy & Sam she chose Detective Luke Callaghan played by Eric Johnson & they were just about to move in to their own place together.

So bring on season two; And man did they? The season premiere, titled 'Butterflies' was simulcast last Thursday at 10pm on ABC & Global. It was written by head writer & executive producer Tassie Cameron, I was also on twitter at the time of watching.
The episode begins with Andy dancing around the kitchen in her & Luke's new home, the episode appears to be set a few weeks after the season one finale as Chris Diaz is about to return to his first day back at work.
Gail is living with Dov & Chris & it is not going well, Dov dislikes having Gail there & seems to want his bromance back with his roomie. The cast has such good chemistry & there's some good biting lines from Charlotte Sullivan between Gail & Dov.
So we enter back into fifteen division, Andy is telling Traci she knows where everything is in her life now & that she's settled. Andy's former TO Sam Swarek is having a meeting with Sergeant Frank Best played by Lyriq Bent & Boyd who we met briefly last season, who is trying to convince him to return to where he was in the pilot of season one; 'guns & gangs.'
The catalyst for the episode is a free concert where too many wristbands have been given out for the number of people allowed in, so naturally a police presence is required. Andy is put in charge of the task & is instructed to take her former rookies with her. Special mention here for the line "who's playing?" from Andy which receives a scathing look from her boss, a look which I believe says 'I don't know or care.'
Andy & her fellow officers are in charge of crowd control & seem to have everything in order, particularly like the line from Gregory Smith "wait now, tweet later", back-up arrives in the form of Sam & Oliver Shaw played by Matt Gordon. Sam & Andy or 'Sandy' as dubbed by the fans are teasing each other, the tone is light & as Traci said earlier; "just another day at the office."
As you can probably guess by my participation on this site I am a spoiler junkie, I try so hard not to be but it's a fact, I had seen the promos & read the spoilers but still found what happens next shocking.
Andy gives preferential treatment to one of the girls queuing up as she likes her & no sooner has she done so gunfire rings out & Andy is spattered with blood, a second bullet is fired & she falls to the ground. At this point I really have to give a shout out to David Wellington the director, the angles & shots he used to capture the complete panic & hysteria of the crowd & the situation were brilliant. I have to echo the sentiments of my fellow fans on twitter, where the general consensus for this scene was, holy crap!
I should at this point mention that I am firmly on 'Team Sam' & did enjoy the scene of Swarek rushing to Andy, with seemingly little regard for his own safety straight into the line of fire, we find out Andy has been shot in the vest & though in quite a bit of pain will be ok. The other girl is not so lucky as she's been shot in the head, Sam tells Andy "I've got to be the boss right now" & goes about the business of organising the crime scene. Officer Shaw who was Andy's TO in the pilot stays with her & tells her that the vest she has on is evidence & she has to stay put. The girl's friend rushes in & is embraced by Sam who looks pretty shocked himself, to me it looked like this event has affected him much more then he's letting on.
In walks a new character Jo Rosati played by Camille Sullivan, a detective, who is responsible for helping out as Luke is in court. She takes Andy's statement, removes any evidence & at first seems like a likable character, taking care of he understandably shaken Officer McNally.
Andy emerges from the mobile unit & is pulled to the side by Sam, she tells him how she's feeling, he's actually the only one she tells the truth & there's a nice moment (sorry but I am a girl) of him looking into her eyes trying to reassure himself that she's still with him, I must confess to a little squee! at that moment because it looked like they hadn't been interrupted he was about to kiss her. They are interrupted though when a young lad is spotted by Andy & after a pat down from Sam it's revealed he's packing.
Sam takes the suspect back to the station where Jo, Jerry Barber played by Noam Jenkins & Traci are waiting, here we see how they are learning as Traci quickly thinks on her feet & plays good cop to distract him from as Sam put it "thinking lawyer."
Meanwhile Andy is being taken back to the barn by Shaw who tries to convince her to let him take her to the hospital, I really can't speak highly enough about the next scene where there is a nice throw back to the pilot as Shaw gives McNally 'the talk' they were supposed to have on her first day. Missy Peregrym & Matt Gordon stole the show for me last week & this is why; Shaw was telling Andy how she might think of him as a hard-ass but it's his job to protect her & to make sure they both get home at the end of the day. Matt played the scene with so much emotion you could really tell that how deeply the character cares for the rookies.
They return to the station where Andy is greeted by Luke who looks genuinely concerned for her (first time for everything) ok that was kind of mean but he hasn't exactly been the supportive, doting boyfriend in the past. Luke tries to get her to go home but Andy is determined to stay & work on the case, they are interrupted by Jo who catches them in an intimate embrace & seems affected by it & you get a sense straight away that there's history there.
Andy is questioning the friend in the squad room & she is blaming herself for what happened, it begins to get heated which makes Sam emerge to check on things. Sam is so Andy's knight in shining whatever & always concerned for her wellbeing.
Jo, Jerry & Luke (all detectives) are standing outside interrogation debating on how to question the suspect, Jo is taking shots at Luke about his relationship with Andy "unless she's not & you just like making out with every cute officer who takes a bullet" ouch! Eric & Camille played the frostiness between the characters really well, something tells me she's trouble. Jo frustrated by standing around decides to grab the bull by the horns & charges in, Jo definitely does not take the same approach as Traci earlier, softly-softly is so not her style.
The girl who took a shot at the scene has been taken to hospital accompanied by Dov, who has been made responsible for gathering all the information about her treatment. He is in the lobby when a frantic mother arrives asking lot's of medically related questions, I can so relate to this scene, I have some medical knowledge & I often think that it's worse to understand, sometimes ignorance is bliss, I am not very popular with the staff when someone I love is in hospital. I have to give a shout out to the show for what comes next, it is revealed she has suffered brain damage & will not wake up, devastating news for the mother but she really would like her to be an organ donor, Grey's Anatomy also has done storylines on this thread & I have to commend them both. Carrying that card is such a small thing but it can save so many lives, I carry mine with pride.
We return to fifteen where Diaz & Peck are marching in the other people from the scene, the commentary indicated that one of the writers, Noelle Carbone writes the snarkiness from Gail & this episode was no exception when one of the suspects belches closely followed by "don't judge me" to which she replies "too late."
Traci finds out that the prime suspect has an alibi & the story & the case move on.
Dov returns to the station to implore to his boss in person to get help granting the mother's wishes, due to the chain of evidence this is a problem as it would officially make the case a homicide, Jo convinces Best that she can get a confession by the end of the day.
Sam & Andy are in the squad room where Andy is relaying to Sam the information she's gleaned from talking to the room mate, that the victim was a straight A student, Sam, like Luke tells her she has to go home, Andy gets annoyed with him & tells him the same thing she told Luke. The scenes with Ben & Missy alone are so good, he's a very clever actor & does what I call re-acting very well. Even in previous episodes Sam knows when she needs him & when she doesn't & realising he's not going to win the argument, relents & allows her to drive the friend home, even though you can see the concern etched all over his face.
Back at the barn the other rookies are still questioning the suspects as there are quite a few of them & Diaz is taking some stick from a guy who is studying a master's degree & getting more & more cheesed off doing it, they are getting no where fast. Dov walks in & rallies the troops, reminding them that they only have the day to solve the case.
This is another thing I like about Rookie Blue, the ingenuity, Dov has the idea to ask the suspects if they'd tweeted or text pictures whilst waiting in line, given this awesome world we now live in of social networking everyone steps up.
Jo thinks the crime is gang related but Luke doesn't & comments that "if it aint revenge & it aint money" finished by Jo who says "it's love."
Andy is with the room mate back at the dorm & ascertains that the victim had on her coat & gets the idea it may be a grisly form of mistaken identity.
What follows is a clever scene of Dov, Chris & Traci the rookies looking totally at home (as would I) linking data cables to the suspects phones & uploading the pictures from the scene & checking their social networks. This was a particularly neat story telling device given that recently life imitated art when the police were trying to find the perpetrators of the riots in Vancouver in exactly the same way. Nice comment from officer Noelle Williams at this point played by the lovely Melanie king who comments "not a clue what you're talking about" us crazy kids today eh? Dov then brings the suspects into the room asking them to point out anyone they saw with the victim, someone is spotted who has a relationship with the room mate Andy took home, another nice line from Matt Gordon, a bit of what I like to call, 'Shaw Wisdom' a Mr Miaggi moment when he comments " & the student becomes the master."
In the mean time Andy has been using her initiative & is investigating on her own, it's revealed the guy in the photos has been harassing the room mate, Andy returns to the dorm to find said guy in the room presumably returning to finish the job he'd attempted earlier. The guy flees to the roof with Andy is pursuit he climbs the ledge & Andy's tough love approach taught by Sam really shows, she gets him talking & while doing so takes the opportunity to get close enough to take out his legs with her baton, proving no one messes with Andy McNally anymore, drags him to the railing & handcuffs him there.
Just want to mention at this point another thing I love about this show as well as others, the music, the music on Rookie Blue is provided by a Canadian company called the Vapor Music group they have introduced me to some terrific bands & tracks last season & this episode featured some more treats for my iPod.
Dov & Andy have a quick heart to heart in the locker room, let's face it, they've both had a hell of a day & Shaw tells Andy she'll be ok. Dov gets called into Best's office as the confession is done & the mother's wishes can be fulfilled, in a symbolic gesture Shaw hands Dov the keys as a police escort is needed & he knows he will jump at the chance to be the one to do it, he looks on proudly as Dov runs through the station. We learn a bit more about Dov when Chris reveals to Gail that his brother hung himself, poor Dov, Gail tells Chris that she will move out & leave the two guys alone but Chris says he likes having her around, awww.
Andy is looking for Luke when she discovers him & Jo all cosy in interrogation (being team Sam I really didn't mind) they don't know she's there obviously & are having a candid conversation about when they used to live together & obviously still have a rapport.
We end the day as with most episodes of Rookie Blue in the 'Black Penny' the local haunt of the officers once they're off duty, Chris still seems quite shaken up by what happened to Andy & Traci puts him straight as the voice of reason, gotta love the way she's always so level headed, I like to think she's resilient because she's a parent. Gail gives Dov a compliment about his actions that day but doesn't mention his brother as she knows that would make him uncomfortable, she just gives him some Gail snark but they both seem to know she doesn't mean it.
Andy confronts Luke with what she overheard & to his credit he doesn't deny it, she asks him if there are any regrets to which he says no, she then kisses him in a somewhat, possessive 'you cheat on me & you'll be sorry way.' Luke obviously doesn't know how she took down the suspect on the roof.
Sam is sat in his usual spot at the bar nursing a drink, Jo tells him that she's put in for a transfer, hmmm, I wonder why? Luke looks on, obviously still having feelings for Jo. while she asks him if he's going to swap to guns & gangs to which he replies he hasn't decided yet, another nice throw back to the pilot is Sam looking behind him at Andy, damn Swarek you got it bad & might I add, yay!
Would like to give a special mention to Eric Johnson who was keeping us all entertained on twitter, a very nice guy who's pretty funny too.
I have to say this episode was awesome, as 84% of SpoilerTv users agreed, a wonderfully written episode by Tassie Cameron, can't wait to see what else they have for us.

Rookie Blue airs Thursday nights at 10pm on ABC & Global, check it out cos the fun's just getting started!

Written by Sam: no I really am, self confessed Rookie Blue junkie :)

Suits - Strong Start in Ratings

USA Network's light legal drama Suits got off to a solid ratings start last night, especially on the demo side, drawing 4.6 million viewers, 2 million of them in the adults 18-49 demographic. That is only 3% down in the demo from USA's summer premiere last year of Covert Affairs. Versus USA's most recent series debut, the midseason launch of Fairly Legal, Suits was up by double digits, 47% in 18-49. Suits held onto a large chunk of its lead-in, the fifth-season premiere of Burn Notice (5.2 million, 2.3 million in 18-49), which was down from last summer's record-breaking fourth-season premiere (6.6 million, 2.6 million in 18-49) but up by double digits from the winter debut.

Switched At Birth - Episode 1.04 - Dance Amongst Daggers - Press Release

AS RUMORS FLY, DECISIONS REGARDING LOYALTY ARE MADE,
IN AN ALL-NEW EPISODE OF “SWITCHED AT BIRTH,”
MONDAY, JUNE 27th AT 9:00 ET/PT ON ABC FAMILY

Academy Award® Winner Marlee Matlin and Austin Butler Guest Star

Lucas Grabeel Performs an Original Song in Episode

Burbank, CA (June 23, 2011) – As if sharing families hasn’t been tumultuous enough for the two girls, Bay and Daphne come to find out they are now dating guys who strictly belonged to the other in some form of their previous lives, on “Switched at Birth” on ABC Family, Monday, June 27 at 9:00PM ET/PT. Academy Award Winner Marlee Matlin and Austin Butler (“Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure“) guest star in the episode.

In “Dance Amongst Daggers,” tensions continue to grow while Kathyrn hosts the annual school benefit at the Kennish residence, where her new family becomes a spectacle for all of Mission Hills to gossip about. Toby and his friend Wilke’s (Austin Butler) band are excited to perform at the benefit, but they’re in need of a drummer – can Daphne’s deaf friend Emmett really play the drums? As the night goes on, Daphne is faced with a heartbreaking decision -- to choose between a family she barely knows and an exciting new love interest who makes her feel that being deaf is not an issue. Meanwhile, Melody (Marlee Matlin) and John appear to be establishing a bond during the benefit. As rumors fly about the family’s real situation, Kathryn has a difficult time accepting her husband’s new friend. Making matters worse, Regina accepts a dinner invitation from the ex-husband of one of Kathyrn’s best friends.

“Switched at Birth” is executive-produced by Lizzy Weiss (“Blue Crush”), Paul Stupin (“Make It or Break It”) and John Ziffren (“Melissa & Joey,” “Make It or Break It”). The series also stars newcomer Katie Leclerc as Daphne Vasquez; Vanessa Marano (“Gilmore Girls”) as Bay Kennish; Constance Marie (“George Lopez”) as Regina Vasquez; D.W. Moffett (“Friday Night Lights”) as John Kennish; Lea Thompson (“Back to the Future,” “Caroline in the City”) as Kathryn Kennish; Lucas Grabeel (“High School Musical”) as Toby Kennish; and newcomer Sean Berdy as Emmett.

Game of Thrones - Season 1 - Recap and Thoughts

Let me start off by saying that I am not a fan of medieval fantasy and I had not read or even heard of the book series until I learnt that HBO was adapting it into a TV series. I was not planning on watching it, but I gave into the hype that was created around the show and watched it over the weekend. After watching the show, I can safely say that I am glad I did. Maybe the show might appeal to fans of the book series or to fans of medieval fantasy immediately, but it took me a few episodes. But it did impress me... a lot. It took a few episodes for me to fully understand the premise of the show which is quite elaborate and richly detailed. There are some really interesting stories to follow here, but it’s in the second half of the season when the shit hits the fan.
There are basically four major stories going on. Ned Stark’s departure from Winterfell to become the hand of the king and the things he does at King’s Landing; John Snow realising his dream of joining the Night’s Watch and discovering the realities of the Watch; the attempt on Bran Stark’s life and it’s repercussions; Daenerys Targaryen being married to the Khal of the Dothraki, Drogo, so that her brother Viserys Targaryen could obtain access to the Dothraki army in order to claim the Iron Throne.
Eddard “Ned” Stark is the Lord of Winterfell when we meet him at the beginning of the series. The King visits Winterfell and asks Ned to be the hand of the king, the monarch’s closest advisor. During the visit, Bran Stark, Ned’s ten year old son, discovers an incestuous relationship between the queen Cersei Lannister and her twin brother Jamie Lannister and this discovery leads Jamie to push Bran off a high window of an abandoned part of Winterfell; Bran survives but loses use of both his legs as well as the memory of the incident. After much deliberation, Stark agrees to become the hand while another attempt is made on Bran’s life, this time foiled by Bran’s wolf. Sansa Stark, Ned’s eldest daughter, is engaged to Prince Joffrey Baratheon, the next in line to become the king and Arya Stark shows penchant in archery and swordplay.
Ned travels to King’s Landing with daughters Sansa and Arya. Jon Show, Ned’s illegitimate son, joins the night guard and discovers it is filled with lowlifes and criminals. Arya gets tutored in swordplay. Catelyn Stark, Ned’s wife, finds out Lannister’s involvement in her son’s assassination attempts and travels to King’s Landing in secret, as she fears the message-carrying ravens could be intercepted. Catelyn later takes Tyrion Lannister, the dwarf, as her prisoner claiming that he was responsible for her son’s assassination attempt. She proceeds to take him to her sister Lysa where Tyrion manages to talk himself out of the charges and walks out.
Daenerys Targaryen is married to Khal Drogo by her brother Viserys in exchange for Drogo and the Dothraki’s support in getting Viserys the Iron Throne. Viserys believes that he has true claim to the throne as he is the only living descendant of the dragons. Daenerys is repulsed by the savage ways of the Dothraki initially, but later falls in love with Khal Drogo. Viserys becomes increasingly impatient and his ambition to claim the iron throne blinds him from reality of the situation and he makes constant demands and threats; he crosses the Khal when he brings a sword to their sacred place of worship and threatens Daenerys after which Khal pours molten gold on his head, killing him. Daenerys is not saddened by this as she believes that the true dragon cannot be killed by fire as she had discovered earlier that she cannot be hurt by fire. King Robert’s men try to kill Daenerys unsuccessfully and Khal Drogo decides to go to war and win the iron throne for their unborn son.
By now, word of Catelyn’s actions has reached King’s Landing. Ned Stark is trying to retrace the steps of his predecessor, days before he died. Ned believes that Jon Arryn was poisoned and Petyr Baelish helps him get to the truth. Ned finds out that Jon visited all the illegitimate children of King Robert and was reading a book “The Lineage and Histories of the Great Houses of the Seven Kingdoms”. Soon he observes that all the Baratheons had black hair and all the illegitimate children of Robert had black hair, but all the children he had with Cersei Lannistor had golden hair and discovers that they are in fact the children of Cersei and Jamie Lannister. Ned confronts Cersei and tells her that he knows her secret; he offers her a chance to flee with her children before he informs this to the King.
The King goes on a hunting trip and returns injured and dying. He names Ned as the protector of the realm until Joffrey comes of age; Ned writes it down as “until my rightful heir comes of age”. With the King dead, Joffrey claims the throne as does Ned. In this conflict of interest, who commands more men at the given moment would come to a position of power. Petyr Baelish betrays him and Ned is captured and branded as a traitor. Ned’s capture instigates a war situation as Ned’s eldest son and now the Lord of Winterfell, Robb Stark plans an attack. The war begins and Robb Stark, who has lesser soldiers, outwits Lannisters and captures Jamie Lannister. Meanwhile, Jon Snow is not given the position of Ranger as he wanted, but takes the Night’s Watch oath anyway.
Joffrey promises to Sansa that if Ned confesses to his treason and accepts Joffrey as the rightful King, he will pardon Ned’s life and allow him to live out his days in the Night’s Watch. But when Ned does so, Joffrey goes back on his word and gets Ned killed. Everyone backing the Stark’s side in the war unanimously agree that Robb Stark has to become the new King once the war is over.
After learning about the situation, Jon decides to leave the Night’s Watch where he has not able to contribute the way he had hoped and desires to join his half-brother Robb in the war and avenge his father. Strange events unfold as a dead Ranger returns as a whit and tries to kill Jeor Mormont, Lord Commander of the Night’s watch. Jon decides to stay with the Night’s Watch and help them with the situation instead of going back.
Arya escapes with the help of her teacher and is smuggled out of the city by Yoren, a recruiter of the Night’s Watch, guising as a boy. There she meets an armourer’s apprentice, one of the illegitimate sons of King Robert.
Khal Drogo is wounded before he can invade, and the wound festers rendering Drogo unable to ride his horse. Most of the Dothraki army leave as they believe Drogo is no longer able to lead. Daenerys unwittingly sacrifices her unborn son for a spell to save Drogo, but he is left mindless after the spell. Daenerys smothers him to death out of pity. She later places three dragon eggs that was gifted to her, near Drogo’s corpse and walks into his burning pyre. She does not get burnt but instead, the dragon eggs get hatched. The remaining Dothraki who witness this accept her as their leader.
Overall, the season was very engrossing with some great characters and some interesting plot twists. The performances of Sean Bean as Eddard Stark and Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister were the highlights. They have set things up very nicely for the next season, the adaptation of the second book in the series, “A Clash of Kings”. I am very interested to see how the war unfolds and how the dragons come into play.

Buffy Season 8 Recap - Time of your Life - Part 1

“Bad day” Buffy tells us “started bad, stayed that way”. She is mid fight, she is fighting Fray who wields her own Scythe, Fray runs at her and Buffy hits her in the face as they both tumble from the top of a building. As Buffy falls we see the flying cars below and we see that they both have a Scythe, Buffy questions her situation “who is this person? Where am I? Where is everyone else? And what is up with Dawn?” As Buffy and Fray fall towards the ground we flashback to the start of Buffy’s day.

Dawn (still a giant) holds her stomach and yells out in pain. Buffy Willow and Xander are discussing the trip they are about to take, Willow tells them that Saga Vasuki sent her a message through the witch from the previous story. Saga told Willow that the source power of Buffy’s scythe is linked to Manhattan and they must go there. While they are a bit sceptical about travelling so soon after the previous battle Willow points out that the message was sent for a reason, an important event is about to happen there and they should find out what it is before they “lose another…” Willow quickly adds “fight” trying to avoid that she was referring to Renee’s death. Xander tells them that its painful but he is dealing with it and he would appreciate it if they stopped walking on eggshells. One of the Slayers runs in to the three leaders and tells them that they have to come quick, Dawn is in trouble.

They run through the woods shouting Dawn’s name, she begs them not to come closer, Buffy asks if she can stand up and Dawn tells them that she is standing up, Buffy asks if she has shrunk back to normal size. They look at Dawn in surprise, Buffy says “yay” then asks if Dawn herself in appreciative of her new look “Dawnie, yay?”. “Neigh” she says as we see that she has become a centaur.

Twilight is talking to Warren and Amy about an upcoming plan. Twilight questions the power of the weapon in front of him, Warren becomes annoyed because he and Amy have worked so hard on it. We see a huge missile with mystical writing and candles on it, the weapon seems both magical and explosive. Warren tells Twilight that it will do its job and Twilight seems satisfied. Buffy Willow and Xander are preparing a helicopter to take them to the local airport so they can go to New York, Buffy is mysteriously talking to someone on her mobile phone which she clearly does not want Xander and Willow to hear “You’ll let me know where?” she asks the person before closing the phone. Buffy apologises for leaving Xander to look after things while Buffy and Willow go to New York but Xander tells her that he fine looking after the place and if anything happens he’ll call.

Buffy and Willow are now on the plane, Willow seems to believe that Saga has sent them to New York due to a mystical event that is about to happen, Buffy asks if she has any idea where or when it will happen. Willow believes Midnight, witches love midnight. Willow tells Buffy that she has arranged a Slayer team to work with when they get there, they arrive at the airport and Kennedy is there to greet Willow, they kiss and Kennedy asks if Buffy needs any help carrying bags, she has packed half a dozen bags due to an outfit crisis. The three characters arrive at the New York Slayer building, there one of the Slayers is discussing the various mystical events happening around town, all of which are unusually high. Willow walks forward and asks if she can explain something to them, some of the Slayers get excited that the famous Willow is working with them and quickly allow her control of the board. Willow draws a line on the board, she puts a cross on the left of it and a cross on the far right, the left cross represents the present and the far right represents the future. In between these two crosses is an event so big that it is sending ripples through time “like a pebble thrown in a pond” she says as she puts a rippling circle inbetween the 'past' and 'future'. Their present is currently feeling the ripple effect of this big event.

Xander and Dawn are watching a sunset and discussing Dawn’s new body. Xander is disappointed that she isn’t more excited to be a centaur as he thinks it is “so cool” and he is actually jealous. Xander tells her Willow has studied the spell used and Dawn will have three stages before returning to normal, its only temporary and she should enjoy it as much as she can before the spell wears off. Dawn begins to complain about her situation again and Xander asks her if there is a way for Dawn to deal with it without whining. Dawn looks shocked as Xander realises he could have worded it a bit better, Dawn gallops off into the woods. Xander begins returning to the castle when he looks up into the sky in shock, he runs towards the castle yelling at people to get out. The missile from earlier is falling towards the castle, Xander doesn’t get to the castle in time and we see it explode in a green explosion as Xander is blown away. We see Xander look up in disbelief as we see him on the floor surrounded by rubble and burning grass.

Willow and Kennedy are on top of a building as Willow reads from a magic book, Kennedy speaks out on her scepticism on the source of Willow’s information. Willow tells her that she is sure they are about to experience one of the ripples which will cause a time anomaly, possibly sending some vital information through time to them. Kennedy mentions that its supposed to be information on Buffy’s Scythe but the Scythe is with Buffy, and Buffy isn’t there with them. Buffy quickly comes through a the rooftop door in an evening dress, she explains that she was at a meeting which Willow and Kennedy both question as she is dressed so nicely. Buffy tells them that she will change and disappears in a cloud of smoke and a demon appears instead “I preferred your first look” Kennedy tells it. Buffy is seen hurtling through a wormhole and she screams out in agony, she finally lands on the other side where Fray is there. Fray tells Buffy who she thinks is the demon that it cant “spin her with a half-coi glam of a Slayer been dust more than two cen”. “You’re lower than a lurk” she tells Buffy. Buffy is still sat on the floor in absolute confusion “Uh… English?”.

Quick recap of Fray:
Fray is a future Slayer, hundreds of years after Buffy’s lifetime. She was told that she was the first Slayer to be called after a huge battle that wiped out the need for Slayers, quite possibly this coming purge entitled Twilight. Her sister Erin is part of the police force. Her twin brother Harth received the Slayer dreams and visions while Fray received the power. Harth was turned into a vampire and has become Fray’s greatest enemy, in this time they call vampires “lurks” presumably because they lurk in the shadows of night. In the final fight of the Fray series Fray manages to stop the impending apocalypse but Harth escapes and promises to kill her later. Later on Joss Whedon revisited Fray’s world and she was lead by a mysterious four armed demon looking monkey to a library full of books, presumably the Watcher’s council library where Fray could sit and learn about her Slayer lineage and history. This is the new world of Slayers, the future of the Slayer lineage and Buffy has just mysteriously been transported there.

Questions left open by this issue:
Who or what has transported Buffy to the future?
What is happening with Dawn?
Who was Buffy talking to on the phone?

Cable Ratings - Tuesday Night

ABC Family already has what what all cable networks strive to get every summer, one breakout hit - in Switched at Birth, which launched with record-breaking 3.3 million viewers earlier this month. The network's second new drama, The Nine Lives of Chloe King, couldn't match that performance, debuting with 2.2 million viewers on Tuesday night. That was lower than other recent ABC Family premieres, including Pretty Little Liars and Make It Or Break It, which both opened with 2.5 million viewers. Nine Lives held onto 59% of the audience of its lead-in, the second season premiere of Pretty Little Liars (3.7 million), which was up from its series debut, down slightly from its record-setting winter premiere (4.2 million) and on par with its freshman season finale. Pretty Little Liars was the most watched series on cable last night.

Over at TNT, the second season premiere of Memphis Beat drew 3 million viewers, down from 4.3 million for its seson debut last summer, which followed the season opener for Hawthorne. This time, Memphis Beat led into the third season debut of Hawthorne at 10 PM, which posted 2.6 million viewers, down from 3.4 million for its second season premiere last summer.

At USA, in Week 2, Covert Affairs (3.9 million) and White Collar (3.7 million) were both down from their season premieres last week, by 15% and 8%, respectively.

On Comedy Central, the premiere of Jon Benjamin Has a Van (1.2 million) held onto less than half of its Tosh.0 lead-in (2.7 million).

Pretty Little Liars - Episode 2.05 - The Devil You Know - Press Release

NEWS BRINGS SOME MUCH NEEDED ANSWERS,
IN AN ALL NEW EPISODE OF “PRETTY LITTLE LIARS,”
TUESDAY, JULY 12th AT 8:00 PM ET/PT ON ABC FAMILY

Burbank, CA (June 15, 2011) – Facing a known evil is much easier to deal with for Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer than the unknown kind that’s only a text message away, in “The Devil You Know,” an all-new episode of ABC Family’s hit original series “Pretty Little Liars,” premiering Tuesday, July 12th (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT).

As the shocking news about Ian makes the rounds through Rosewood, Aria, Emily, Hanna, Spencer and their families all try to cope with the outcome and some much needed closure. With her home life particularly in turmoil, Spencer stays focused on her family and the surprising support she gets from her parents. Emily, on the other hand, can’t seem to find the closure that others are relishing, but rather digs her heels in to find any shred of evidence they may have over looked. And Aria looks to find comfort in Ezra, but with their relationship still new to the outside world, the couple struggles to be so public so fast. With everyone looking for comfort and sharing a huge sigh of relief, could Emily be right and the devil they think has been put to rest is nowhere near the evil that still looms out there, just waiting for the Liars to get theirs?

Meanwhile, Hanna gets a surprising look into Caleb’s life after his shady foster mother surfaces.
