  1. Too much Sara and no Peter at all in the promo. Not loving it.

  2. too much Sara is bad enough by itself.

  3. At this point any Sara is too much. She's taking away from the other characters. Maybe she'll die in a case gone wrong. We can always hope.

  4. LOVE Sara and Neal together. They are the reason why I'm loving the show so much more. Hilarie is an amazing addition to the show. And Neal/Sara have so much chemistry!

  5. Wow, you people are really hating on Sara. A lot of people really hate on her, despite the fact that she hasn't actually done anything wrong.

And how has she taken away from the other characters? Seriously, I want to see your logic behind that statement.

She was romantically involved with Neal for what? Two episodes before the season finale? And it's not like they were all flowers and hearts, it was CLEARLY physical with a touch of something more. They like and respect each other, and so far that hasn't changed Neal at all.

As for Peter, she gets along with him just fine and I haven't seen a change in either of their personalities because of that interaction.

As to be a matter of fact, the only thing that has changed since her arrival is her and Neal being attracted to each other. And why wouldn't there be an attraction? She's an intelligent, beautiful, independent, and strong willed woman who can see through Neal's crap and give him some in return.

Considering every woman Neal has shown an interest in over the course of this show, Sara falls perfectly within his preferences.

So tell me, any one of you who is complaining about this character, what exactly has she actually done to change the dynamic? As I'm seeing it, most of your complaints are about what "might" happen and not about what "has" happened.

  6. see season 3 promo for change in dynamic. No Peter at all even though he is one of the two lead characters.

  7. Terrible reason. This is a Neal/Sara promo. The entire thing involved them.

I've seen promos involve only Peter and Olivia for Fringe, I've seen promos involve only Nikita and Michael for Nikita, I've seen promos involve only Clark and Lois for Smallville.

I call them relationship promos, and they happen all the time.

  8. I don't honestly think Sara intruded on the dynamic of Neal and Peter in Season 2, doubt she will in Season 3 either. I like her a lot more than I like Alex, so there's that too. Always had a soft spot for Hilarie Burton though, so who knows.

  9. Can't wait for White Collar to be back on my TV!

  10. My favorite aspects of White Collar are the Peter and Neil Dynamic and the Mozzie and anybody dynamic. I didn't mind Sara at all. She added something to the series.. .something important. She allowed Neil to see that he can form feelings for a new woman and start moving on from Kate.

She is not my fav, or near one of my favorites on the series, but she is better than all the rest of Peter's FBI team. So bring her on I say.

  11. What's wrong with you people?! Stop hating on Sara! She's better for Neal than Alex is! At least she isn't a criminal. She might be good for Neal. I for one LOVE Neal/Sara

  12. There are currently too many characters for everyone to have adequate screen time. Evey time Sara is on, I keep thinking how we might have gotten Jones out of the van or a plot for Diana or even a glimpse of June if they hadn't included Sara. It's less about the relationship to me and more about how I already have a host of characters I care about but never get to see and now they are adding another person I really don't care about to hog up what little screen time is left. That irks me to no end. If they need Neal in a relationship, go with Alex. I care about her character too and she's fun. Not that I think a relationship is necessary at this point with anyone. Peter and El are perfect enough for that end of things.

  13. Too much Sara. I hated the way she was introduced - hello, obnoxious, running around the FBI headquarters in her undies! - and I hated that the writers were lying to us from the get-go, insisting that she wasn't Neal's love interest. Of course not! A handful of eps later, they are all over each other. Do they really think we are that dumb?

This show used to be about the friendship between Peter and Neal. Suddenly, we have UST, jealousy, love triangles. And now there are way too many regular characters running around for a 16 ep long series.

This is not the show that I fell in love with. There are still amazing parts that I love to re-watch - but they are all Peter and Neal related. That's where the show was and is strong. Please, writers, don't bend over backwards to turn WhiCo into something it shouldn't be in the first place.

  14. Personally, while I don't LOVE Sara, I am very glad they are adding new characters and letting the old characters evolve. At least the characters that matter - Neal, Peter and Mozzie. The rest of the cast is background by design and doesn't need to have individual plots about them.

If it wasn't for the interjection of new characters shaking up the dynamic the show would turn into something as predictable as a CBS procedural. "Oh look there is a character actor that is on a lot of shows... I bet they are the bad guy of the week"... and inevitably they are.

I also don't get the "too many characters" argument against Sara. I watch a few series with large casts 10 to 15 (or even 20 or more in Game of Thrones case) regular cast members who all have fairly dynamic roles. It doesn't detract from the stars or the series.... it adds to it for me. I do realize the difference between an ensemble cast series and a 3 lead driven series, but White Collar has so few characters that matter to me. I look forward to and I enjoy the way each seasons regular guest roles add to the overall series.

  15. I don't mind ensemble casts - when it's a team show. I love NCIS, NCIS:LA, Stargate, all team driven shows. But that's not what WhiCo had been advertised as. From the get-go, this show was promoted as a Peter-and-Neal vehicle. But they are slowly changing the basics of the show.

I mean, imagine watching Sherlock and suddenly having Mrs. Hudson, Donovan, Anderson and Sarah becoming regulars, watching John and Sarah do the "dirty" against the wall while Donovan fell hard for John and having an awkward Sarah-John-Donovan triangle etc. and so on.

WhiCo isn't a team show, it's not what made the show stand-out. And I don't see the need to turn it into one. There are enough shows like that out there. They are doing shake-ups for the sake of shake-ups. And WhiCo doesn't need that. There are twists and turns enough as it is. Oversaturation with characters is the last thing I want to see on this show.

  16. Sarah and Neal? ^No thanks I'm with peter,Neal and el. OTP

  17. It has a long way to go before it is anything close to an ensemble cast... or team show. Shows almost always make some changes in year 3 to keep things fresh or because their initial plot has ended.. You and I disagree on what that means... which is ok.

White Collar will always be in need of guest stars that play a part since they will always need someone or something that affects Neal. Most the current characters are Peter related other than Mozzie. And he is much better left as adorable supporting cast than some one that drives the seasonal arc in my mind.

The first seasons Neal had Kate and that drove the majority of his plots. Alex has driven a few but they have explored that already. They will always need something to tempt Neal to go rogue. That is part of the original dynamic of the series and now the original temptation of Kate is gone.
I am not even saying Sara is that temptation, but some character this year will be. It's what the show is built on.

  18. I love how the USA network plays with colours!! Blue for White Collar, Green for Psych, etc! excited for the new season!!! :)

  19. This show will now have the same amount of regulars as NCIS. How is that not an ensemble cast? There's no other show on USA with that many regular characters. I guess I'm spoiled by Supernatural where they can tell fascinating stories with just two leads and one regular.

IMHO, you shouldn't need a flock of characters to tell a good story, especially when those stories should be related to your two leads - Peter and Neal. They are just a crutch that makes up for the lack of dense storytelling.

    ReplyDelete
  20. White Collar has 4 leads and 2 recurring characters. It always has. Do Ellie and Mozzie intrude on the Peter/Neal dynamic? Do Diana or Clinton intrude?

Neal was always going to get a love interest somewhere down the line. Thought for sure it was going to be Alex, but that always gave be a Burn Notice Michael/Fiona vibe in a bad way, so I'm glad it's someone else.

I don't think, for a minute, this show will become more about them than it is about Peter and Neal's relationship. It'll just be there, just like El and Peter, just like Mozzie and Neal, just like everything else.

  21. When I think of ensemble casts I think of Rome, The Sopranos, Deadwood, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men or the West Wing etc with a large number of relatively equal roles that play against one another.

I think of team shows like Leverage, NCIS, the CSI franchises etc since they have a handful of relatively equal roles but they are all part of some small team that acts together against guest stars. The team as a whole acts as a single protagonist versus a weekly villain.

Technically they are both the same, but I rarely hear CSI or NCIS referred to as ensemble casts like I do with the other series I mentioned.

I don't think ensembles are any better or worse than a typical 1-3 lead actor series... just different. Ensemble casts do allow for far more creativity and flexibility though since any episode can be from any one of the ensemble character's perspectives.

  22. No, this show has two leads (Peter and Neal) and four regulars (El, Mozzie, Diana and Sara), five if they make Jones one too, as Jeff Eastin said, and at least two recurrings (June and Alex).

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm also not saying that a team/ensemble show is worse than a two-lead series. I just don't like that WhiCo is turning from a two-lead series into a team show. It's not needed. There are enough team shows out there. The emphasis on Peter and Neal is what made the show a success - not for nothing started USA boasting about the "bromance" on this show.

And I'm of just the opposite opinion - when you have a large cast, you don't need to be creative. When you lack ideas, you just slap storylines on the various characters and that's it. When you have to do with little, then you have to be really creative and flexible.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Every non-ensemble show has two leads, even when it really has three (like The Vampire Diaries, for example).

If you want to get overly technical, Mozzie and Elizabeth are full time. They've appeared in every episode of the series.

As has Clinton, actually. And both Atkins and Thomason are credited, which means regular status for both. Hilarie Burton will also be credited as a regular.

Regardless, this has never been a 2 man show. It's not Supernatural casting a full time woman, it's White Collar adding another side character on their already long list of side characters.

  25. Very cute. Though I will be very happy if Neal stays single, so he can flirt with all the girls. Excited about S3! Well, I'm worried too. S2 shifted its focus from Neal and bromance to Peter and other characters. In S2.5, I missed Neal-Peter dynamic so much. They gave us too many Peter centric episodes. I don't mind too much Peter, but not in expense of Neal. S1 had the right strategy. With Sara on board, hopefully we will get to see more Neal.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Again, no. Neither Mozzie nor Elizabeth were in all episodes - even Tiffani's pregnancy aside. See S1 where I know it for sure - both weren't in two episodes, regardless of them being in the OP. As I said, regular doesn't mean in every ep, they just get paid for all the eps they are contracted for, not only for those in which they appear.

Jones is not a regular, he's credited as a guest star - or has been so far. In S2, only Peter, Neal, El, Mozzie and Diana were in the OP - leads and regulars. Everybody else was recurring only. It's all about money: recurring = less money.

I think it's only fair to give Neal a romantic interest, doesn't matter if it's Sara or Alex but the former is currently my fave. I seriously love her character and can't understand this hate Sara uproar at all. And frankly I'd rather watch Sara than Jones, lol.

Why don't we take a deep breath and relax, we haven't seen any new episodes yet so let's not expect doom. I'm sure the creators know what their show is about and what makes it successful. They won't make Neal-Sara romantic show out of it, let's be reasonable.

Do we watch the same show? I think you might have slipped to Bold and Beautiful by accident. Sorry to be so sarcastic but the show hasn't changed its focus at all. Sara Neal storyline was touched upon very lightly in a very mature way, not soap opera style.

  29. Love the promo but a pity there isn't something from the new series in it. They are playing things very close to the chest not much information on what will be happening.

  30.  The reason why Sara is not well liked, is SHE is a fake Kate and not even good at pretending to be Kate. There is already too many characters as is, and Sara isn't really needed every episode.

A lot of people love Kate and wouldn't mind if she barely survived. To have someone prancing around the show pretending to be Kate, when there is already a whole lot of people who actually liked Kate or enjoyed Kate and Neal sharing time together...is just too obnoxious.
