TV Romance Competition - The Winner Announced

Hey Guys,

This is the final post for the TV Romance competition, it is now officially over. I hope you enjoyed it regardless of the winner and the placing of your own favourite couple.

And of course, as was expected for a few weeks now, the winners by a pretty decent margin was...

Dean Winchester & Castiel - Supernatural.


It seems the bro-mance/profound bond (I refuse to ever ask what that means btw :P) have pulled off a great victory with the Supernatural fans who follow the pairs relationship being unperturbed by recent events... that being Castiel turning all bad mo-fo.

So regardless if you love or loathe the winners, disagree with their place in the competition or have undying love for SpoilerTV for including them, it doesn't matter, it's all for fun and if it bothered you that much, don't worry... it's finished :P

Looking forward to playing again next year with new couples, rules, rounds and whatever else we can cook up...

    Congrats to all their fans!  I do love Dean and Cas - maybe not in that way, exactly, but I do - so I'm pretty happy.  If nothing else, I've loved being able to see that picture every time they win.  Such a great moment. xD

    I voted for the klaine but i'm glad for the supernatural fandom and the destiel who is a awesome couple, epic and gorgeous.

    I call it thematic symmetry. The monster sacrificed can "save herself" because Bobby's just a man, and the angel isn't worried about Dean stopping him, because he's just a man. First we see how Visyak was wrong, and shortly we will see how Castiel was wrong for suddenly ignoring the fact that for several years now, Sam and Dean have killed enemies much more menacing than Castiel...up until he ate Purgatory that is.

    thank you Adam for giving our OTP a chance to be in this poll! We had a tough finale and fandom needed this victory real bad. I hope the show creators will find out about it and consider once again killing the wonderful chemistry Dean and Castiel have.

    LMAOed my god, everyone trolled spoiler tv with this winners! ok, it's a good bromance, but come on guys, the name of the competition is "tv romance competition", so... that "profound bond" you talked about, adam, best if you really don't think much about it. 
    Don't take me so serious, i'm just messing with you. I was very glad spoiler tv accepted dastiel as a couple and as supernatural fans are SO very OBSESSED by this series, of course they had to win with some couples, and because the series doesn't provide good romantic couples, the bromance wins!

    Thanks for running this, Adam. It's been a blast. So happy that Dean and Cas won, but so much love to Klaine shippers for how amazing they've been this entire contest and especially last round. You guys are freaking wonderful and I'll see you all over at Kleanstiel for sure. ;)

    Now, I'm pretty much just waiting for Misha, Seb, Mark or Richard or someone to tweet about it. The hilarity will make the second hand embarrassment worth it. I think that considering Misha's on vaycay rn, Sebastian's probably the better option if you want cast recognition for the poll. To twitter, minions, mishamigos, acolytes or whatever you crazy kids are calling yourselves these days!

    The reason Cas went bad in the first place was to save the world, and why did he want to save the world?  Because it would mean saving Dean. Everything Castiel does is to ensure Dean is safe. If that's not romantic, I dunno what is.

    Even tho we could clearly see that some people were not exactly (how can I say?) happy to the way the poll turned out - I'm looking at you Adam XD! No hard feelings in the end, I hope. - I'm really thankfull Spoiler TV - And yes, you too, Adam - decided to keep Destiel in the competition. I think the whole fandom agrees.
    But I got say the thing that made me most emotional was to see that, don't matter what the future brings, we still believe in their conection: the way those two are obviously devoted to each other, and the way two completly diferent beings are just willing to do anything for each other.
    Cas is God? They're on oposite sides now? We'll deal with this when it's time.
    Right now, the only thing I can say is:
    I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP.

    I don't think words can exactly describe how happy I am right now. I ship many couples in many fandoms, but Dean and Castiel make me feel more deeply and intensely than any other couple. Whether  I'm smiling at an adorable moment of Dean teaching Cas how to be human in "Free to Be You and Me", or feeling my heart break during "On the Head of a Pin" or "The Man Who Knew Too Much", or the way future!Cas looks at Present!Dean in "The End", still trusting in him to make the right decision and save the world despite what his Dean has done...there are so many moments, so many emotions. The sheer strength of their faith and trust in each other is amazing and beautiful to me, and I still trust in it to turn Cas around next season.

    It would be an awesome world if the words "romantic" and "couple" weren't perceived as being strictly about nothing more than sex. The best romances are relationships that are deeply felt and endure everything life throws at them. Couples can be lifelong friends as much as lovers.

    Those who disagree, I honestly feel badly that their views cannot expand to these ideas. One can only throw the dictionary at them so many times in hopes that they focus on the pages.

    For all the other "romantic couples" on the list who are involved sexually (even if they were not at the time of their nominations to this poll - and there were), we also hope that they enjoy deep, enduring relationships, as both lovers and as friends.

    I think it's more than that, it's a feeling deep within them that makes Dean the need to call Cass just once and he will come, but for Sam would not even tough it takes a year.

    Haha, wow, don't sprain something with all that enthusiasm there, Adam. ; )

    Yes, Dean/Cas is epic. Yes, many many many fans love Cas and love the relationship he and Dean have had over the last 3 years. Yes, something can be "romantic" without involving physical intimacy (see the first 7 years of a little show called The X-Files). And, yes, it is believable in 2011 (!) that fans want to see a m/m romantic relationship with a main character on a popular TV show. Even if that romantic relationship never happens--which, given the showrunner's recent comments on the future of Castiel in S7, seems even less likely now than it was before the final minute of Friday's season 6 finale.

    But I do hope you, Adam, and TPTB over at Supernatural *cough*Gamble*cough* take notice: WE BELIEVE IN THIS PAIRING. As friends, "family", partners, bros, whatever -- please do not take that relationship away from us. Sure they've turned Cas into a big bad (in a move that made very little sense for his character, which up til then had been all about saving Dean and Sam), but that doesn't mean that his story has to end. Let him redeem himself in S7, like Sam has been able to do in S5&6. Or let Dean find a way to save him, like he's done everything to save the other members of his "family". Let Cas fall, become human, or whatever if that's what it takes to keep the SPN stories grounded on Earth like Gamble says she wants.

    Above all, do not throw away the many many fans like me who love Dean, Cas, Misha, and the incredible chemistry that he and Jensen bring to all of their scenes together--making those scenes intense and emotional, even when they're just communicating with their eyes. After three years and thousands of gained viewers/fans, the Dean/Cas friendship (and MISHA) is epic and worth saving.

    Like I said on the last poll, I'm so very happy about these results. No matter which way you look at it the underdog won. Dean/Castiel, a same sex, interspecies, non-canon, all around minority couple won TV's most favorite romantic couple's competition and everything in the world is right and beautiful. Now if the SPN writers take note of this poll and don't destroy the relationship in Season seven it would be gorgeous.

    The Hunter/Angel have an enduring profound bond and this is proof positive a great many loyal, passionate fans want to see it continue throughout the future season(s) of Supernatural.     Yay! I'm very happy that they won (: Supernatural is a great show, and regardless of their romantic/sexual relationship being canon or not in the show, it's great that they can be recognised as a great pairing. I don't think I've ever been so interested in two characters' relationship (romantic or not) as with these two. The chemistry (and no, that doesn't have to be sexual) they have together is amazing.

    Oh my Cas, I'm beyond ecstatic for this result. \o/ \o/

    Thank you STV for letting Dean/Cas compete in this poll, thus giving us a chance to show our love and passion for this amazing couple. Their journey here has been a blast, facing with so many negative remarks, refusal, and denial from all directions. 

    No, I'm not confused and I'm not delusional for having faith in this couple. For me, romance is so much more than the old stereotypical male/female, and as someone stated in the last poll, Dean/Cas romance is way more deep and tragic than Romeo and Juliet. Most important, romance is not based purely on physical contact, such as holding hands, kissing, having sex, or even marriage. And really, it doesn't have to be canon for any character in any show to have a romance with others. 

    Anyway, I've said it before, no matter what the result is, both couple is the winner. Dean/Cas winning this, doesn't make Kurt/Blaine on the losing side. They both are such an amazing couple, so different from each other, but so special in their own way. I know that there has been so many obstacle for Kurt/Blaine in this poll as well, so I'm very happy that they can pull it off together, and make it to the very end. 

    For all the Klainers, I have so much respect for all of you. The final round has been so much fun and joy. Thank you for being so positive, friendly, and civilized. I never watch Glee before, but reading all your lovely comments for this couple, I seriously consider to catch up, uhm, maybe just scenes with Kurt/Blaine in it. :) 

    Ow, last one, congrats for the new marriage for this two fandom. Kleanstiel FTW. :D

    'Traditionally' romantic or not, this pair is a well-deserved winner and I'm glad they've done so. There's been some interesting discussion resulting from this competition which has possibly redefined people's views on romance and relationships, and I'm glad to have contributed and read it all.     Not surprised who won. While i would have liked a different couple, i am glad all of the others didnt win . And i do love dean and cas so i cant be disappointed.

    I dont think he forgot. It was a cheap writers trick to make Cas the one who pulled Sam out. They just threw it out there. No further explanation. No exact timeline or anything. I mean there is a difference from Dean. Dean was in Hell. Not the Cage. Cas was "new and Improved" so I guess he tried to save Sam for Dean. He went to the cage and got him out. The archangels hold onto Sams soul though. Cas didnt knew that. Also there is a great anology. As Dean puts Sam before everything and everyone (and vice versa) Cas does the same with Dean. He still is sams friend. His brother. But with Dean, they just have the chemestry.
