ReplyDeleteIts just that, their relationship doesn't compare, doesn't come CLOSE to the emotions and real-ness of Delena. Its really no contest here. I know a lot of people want Kurt and Blaine to win for obvious reasons.. triumph of a gay couple, it would be nice no doubt. BUT when you KNOW the type relationship between Damon and Elena, there is no need for a poll like this. If you sit down and watch vampire diaries there is no way you cannot be drawn to the emotions and explosiveness that is Delena.

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but I beg to difer. I'm a fan of both shows... hell, I'm obssesed with Glee & TVD. Delena has been my OTP since day 1, and so has Klaine. There are MANY things Klaine has that Delena doesn't, and viceversa. They're two completely different couples, but the story of Klaine is as beautiful as the Delena one. There is competition. Delena may have the sexual tension and the passion, but Klaine has the trust and the fact they both been through a lot because of who they are. This is gonna be an interesting "fight" though. May the best couple win =)

ReplyDeleteBut thats you see just a part on why that pairing is so beautiful. Damon started out as cold-blooded killer, chasing after something from his past, dedicating his life to it. Its Elena, who actually made him look towards present and future, instead of something that was gone and more importantly was never true.
ReplyDeleteIts basically two very similar people, who can actually understand each other, who actually bring out a very different and interesting sides in each other.Yet at the same time they are completely different. They are opposites and yet identical and their relationship, IMO, is one of he most realistic pairings on tv screen, ever since Spike and Buffy.
They are not "star crossed lovers" or something out of fantasy. They are a bumpy and conflicting ride.

ReplyDeleteDelena fandom is not so rabid as everyone else likes to make them out to be. The very very simple fact is, that Delena has a much much BIGGER fanbase than all the other pairings which, statistically, is bound to show in the variety of these fans. Some of them are mature, others are stupid 'rabid' fans. It's just because there are a lot more Delena fans in NUMBERS (which shows what a big appeal the pairing has), that it's more noticeable, and that is the case with every other ship or pairing.

Actually, whoever is endgame now will be a real JOKE because the REAL author was fired and a ghostwriter wrote the new books - which makes it an alternative ending, if you think about it. It will now never be the "real ending". Oh well, at least WE know the truth.
Predictable in the way that most television shows today play upon the girl who is attracted to the "bad boy" if you will that shows some light of sensitivity every once in a while, so it makes it such a bigger deal. Don't get me wrong...they have their moments...but it's nothing spectacular. Chuck and Blair are by far a better couple (if that's what you're saying is the former for myself), because they're both effed up, and have found ways to make each other better. They also love each other at their worst...Which in my opinion Chuck and Blair have done far worse things than Damon has, because they still have their humanity. I understand why people ship Delena, but it's just "been there, done that."

ReplyDeleteFirst choice for me is Chuck and Sarah, as much as I do enjoy the tension of Chuck/blair will they wont they, I am occasionally a sap for a happy ending, and CHuck and Sarah always make be smile and feel a little bit happier, lol.
Second round is the real toughy, I love both couples, but i've decided to go with Delana because of how much I love Damon, sometimes I want to just give him a big hug!
Anyway, I must say as a side note that i'm loving this whole poll/competition thing. I'm enjoying reading all the comments, sometimes I wish everyone could just get along, but I do enjoy a bit of controvercy and banter between fandoms every now and again, as long as no-one gets too nasty... lol

look um a chuck and blair fan too...i mean i hav been their fan and wanted thm together since day 1..they're best frnds...they're meant for each other but so are damon and elena..the whole dynamic of these 2 couples are diff.....chuck cn do a whole lot worse to blair bt in sum way she'll still be connected to him in ways even she cant even begin 2 express...its out of world love...and elena has never been attracted to damon coz he's the bad boy...if anything...she rejected him bcoz of his bad boy nature ...she is attached to damon because she's the only one who was able to pull out (literallY) damon's humanity and his honest true self which got lost because of his actions, lack of guilt and maybe mostly beacuse of katherine's harshness towards him..wtever the case is...i think Damon and Elena and their love and feelings are just not sum simple "been there done tht" concept...its amazing....um sorry if i offended u..dint mean to...i jst love and want thm to happen a lot!

ReplyDeleteDamon killed Elena's brother, among other things. I think that out does anything Chuck has done to Blair. I love Chair and Delena both though. I love complicated couples who learn that with this person they can learn not to self-destruct. The point is, is Damon was evil when he came to town and Elena changed him. He still screws up but she understands him and has accepted him. Nobody can be compared to Delena cuz it's not your typical good girl/bad girl story. He's a vampire who is predetermined to want to kill people for blood but he's fought that and learned to change. He gave up the woman he loves for his brother but will never stop trying to protect her. It's messy, complicated, filled with buildup and forbidden and it's must see tv. I mean this is 2 years in the making and they aren't even together yet. Damon and Elena are unmatched in the angst and OMG market.

I'm kinda sad that maybe the reason why they pushed the Bonnie/Jeremy thing out of nowhere, not to mention the fact that they drastically reduced any Jyler onscreen moments, is because they wanted to make it loud and clear to the audience that Jyler's not happening :| I mean, hello, not to sound biased or anything but S1 Jyler had more chemistry than Bonnie/Jeremy and Caroline/Tyler combined :|

Yes, Elena changed him. That's the predictable part. Yes...it's must watch TV, but I don't watch for Damon and Elena. In fact...I don't watch for them at all. lol. I used to watch Gossip Girl, cause I loved all the storylines and characters, and now the main reason I watch is just for Chuck and Blair. For me to still watch a television show for just a couple is pretty amazing. I appreciate your case, but I just don't find them to be anything special, but that's my perogative, and you have yours and I respect that.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where you get your stats from dude. Take the lj comms from example. The main Delena one has 4004 members while the main Klaine one has in excess of 5200. And I can't remember the exact number but the biggest Klaine blog is one of the most followed out of any fandom on tumblr. There are less than 300 delena fics on fanfic.net while there are more than five thousand klaine fics. I'm not saying either ship is 'better' or more valid than the other, I just don't understand where you're getting the 'number' idea from.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for 'other pairings' well I can't speak for others, but I don't think you can state Delena has the biggest fanbase. I'm just not seeing the figures here, and I'm looking, believe me.
I was talking about Delena in the TVD fandom, and not comparing it to Glee or Klaine.
ReplyDeleteI DO know that Glee has an insane number of viewers, seeing as it is a family show and it's on Fox - unlike TVD which is on the CW. That also makes a difference.
I actually love Caroline/Tyler. I'm not sure if I ship them, but I find Candice and Michael have amazing chemistry.

ReplyDeleteKlaine vs Delena ?! not fair. Two of my favorite couples. This is the first time the voting has been hard. I have to say Klaine. As much as I love Delena, Elena doesn't know what/who she wants. I don't watch Gossip Girls or Chuck, so I don't care about those pairings.

ReplyDeleteI also started warming up to the idea of Caroline/Tyler (if only because I so hated Matt/Caroline, lol) but I guess my beef with the writers is the fact that they can deny it all they want but Jeremy undoubtedly has much more chemistry with the male characters (Tyler in all of season 1, Damon in the random moments they share, even Alaric!) than the girls they pair him up with (Vicki irritates the hell out of me and I'm not a fan of Bonnie). The only actual canon Jeremy pairing I loved was Jeremy/Ana but then they decided to kill her off :|

Actually, its very important to note that the only two relationships that GLEE is not currently fucking up and is actually taking time or took the time to build up are the two homosexual pairings: Klaine and Brittana.

ReplyDeleteI do agree that most GLEE couples meet, hook-up, fight and break-up in a span of a couple of episodes but it's interesting to note that Klaine actually took 10 episodes before they became an actual couple (in the GLEE universe, that's like, glacial pacing to the point that the audience were already sending death threats to Ryan for not having the two boys together already).

ReplyDeleteThe reason people resonate and feel so emotional towards Kurt and Blaine, is because they were both verbally and physically bullied and abused, yet they have still managed to come out at the end of the tunnel and find happiness in each other. Kurt was pushed into lockers, thrown into dumpsters, verbally abused, voted as 'prom queen' as a joke, and Blaine was beaten up by three guys, bullied so bad he had to change schools (as did Kurt), and his father doesn't even agree with him being gay.

As for the homophobic remarks being posted here from time to time...my attitude toward them is the same as toward the barking dogs or crying babies that I sometimes hear in my neighborhood. Sure, they're annoying, but they're also meaningless. Ranting at them is pointless. They're just primitive sounds made by primitive creatures who aren't capable of understanding intelligent arguments. Just tune them out.

ReplyDeleteVoted for Chuck & Blair, because to me they are the only reason I ever (rarely :P) watch Gossip Girl. It's a destructive relationship, true, but incredibly interesting and well-acted. I watch Chuck sometimes too, but I've only seen seasons were Chuck & Sarah aren't even remotely a couple, so I don't really ship them.

Damon and Elena, even now, feel like a real true and realistic pairing. Its not something entirely lovey dovey. its not something out of a fantasy book.
ReplyDeleteAt the start, all we had was a girl who blames herself for her foster parents deaths and an unfeeling serial killer who tortures his brother and dedicates himself to one goal only.
Yet as the show went on, those two started to understand each other. Elena saved him from himself time and time again and they both are WAY MORE similar than they both want to admit. She is his reason to live, to go on, to actually try to be more human. And even if she does not want to admit that, he means a lot more to her than just a friend.
Damon and Elena are like two parts of the same heart - one can't function without the other and both are so similar to each other yet totally opposite.
The last pairing to have THIS kind of depth was Spike and Buffy and DELENA so far walks strongly in the footsteps set by THE legend.
And no cheap musical show will change this.
(seriously, the only musical on tv that is worth a watch was Buffy episode "once more with a feeling"now that was an epic one...and guess why? Spuffy pairing.)

If I want political correctness being forced upon me, I will watch discovery channel or read European Union laws and human rights.
The fact that its glee(I hate that thing with passion) and a "musical show"(as I said the only musical on tv worth watching was that buffy episode) does not help the situation either
