Yesterday therefore saw wins for Chuck and Blair who easily saw off their Gossip Girl rivals, whilst Finn and Rachel of Glee just about ground through to the next round with a win over Tony and Ziva from NCIS. Both of the latter couples put up a great fight which saw a decent amount of two-ing and fro-ing...

ReplyDeleteI may get annoyed by Glee at times, and I hate the entire Kurt joins the Warblers story arc, but at least he and Blaine actually are a couple. By default they beat Castle and Beckett to me.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Spike and Buffy more, but Angel an Buffy were such a classic couple they have influenced most vampire stories since. Buffy and that relationship, made it possible for the vampire frenzy that broke years later. It showed that vampires were not just relegated to horror movies but could make it in TV dramas and that vampires can be more than th badguys.

How is it that an hour ago the comments say that Castle was crushing the glee 2, but now its the other way around??? Someone has to have done something to cause this. I hope that I am wrong though. Also hope that Castle and Beckett can turn it around

The reason why Klaine didn't get much nomination was because almost none in the fandom knew there was even a nomination going on. Earlier, Caskett was leading 300 to 100 but some people alerted the Klaine fandom thus they found out about this and started voting. Please check your facts before accusing others of cheating.

ReplyDeleteIt completely sucks that some crappy Glee characters are going to beat Castle and Beckett. Glee has to have some of the worst writing on TV today. Not only are the musical numbers completely hit or miss but the characters are so flat that the only way they could give them more than one dimension was to make a 3D movie.

Uhm, to be fair, I watch Castle (season 1 anyway) and I don't think it's the most brilliant 'detective show' in the world. The cases are too predictable, but let's not go there.
ReplyDeleteLol it's not. That's why you dont get it ahaha. It survived cause ABC gave it a chance after season one and they have AN AMAZING spot i mean comeone they fallow dancing with the stars. IMO Castle can be AMAZING and go to not that great for a long time before going back to great again *cough* half of season 2 *cough* ahaha.

ReplyDeleteAlmost every show, with few exceptions, have weaker first seasons. It is a grace period for the show to find its legs. Especially in the case of a show like Castle that got a limited first run. There's a reason Castle got one of the earliest renewals on network TV this season and it isn't because it is a predictable "detective show".

ReplyDeleteWoooo Kurt/Blaine and Buffy/Angel are in the lead!! :) I'm so glad, I thought Klaine was gonna get slaughtered!! Second one is a tough call but come on - romance is best in shows that aren't principally ABOUT romance - and it's BUFFY! Buffy should win every poll by default. Buffy/Angel is also -despite the fact that at the time I preferred Spuffy- one of the most classic TV couples of all time if not THE most classic (I'd be interested in seeing a Buffy/Angel-Mulder/Scully face-off).

Ugh, Buffy and Angel represent EVERYTHING that's wrong with romance. It's the heavyhanded, over-dramatic "love story" of a teenager. I would have been more likely to appreciate it if there had been an option for the more realistic love story of Buffy and Spike.

ReplyDeleteThere was buildup in their relationship, unlike Buffy and Angel. First, there's the issue of the "first love" being the "true love" which is completely and blatantly fake in 99% of such cases. It's that first time lust, the one you always remember.
ReplyDeleteAngel DESTROYED Buffy with his betrayals. Yes, he did argue that he and Angelus were different (they're the same person, just flip sides of each other), but does that really give him a pass for his past actions? Why was Spike judged so differently? Buffy was enthralled enough by Angel to forgive him everything in his past that he did wrong. Why did Spike not get that same reaction? Oh, wait, they started off as enemies. Yet, in the many times that Spike beat Buffy early on, he'd pause to gloat and give her enough time to either get back on her feet or have backup come in and help her.
Then there was the chip. Spike went to his ENEMIES for help. He didn't do anything evil at that time. And let's face it; if he really was evil, why not call up some of his demon friends and have them burn Buffy's home to the ground while she was still in it? Or how about hiring human assassins to come in and kill Buffy while she and her friends slept? Since Spike wouldn't be causing the damage, the chip wouldn't go off...
Angel only comes to Buffy when the PTB tell him to. If he loved Buffy so much, then where was he when she died in Season 5? Where was he that summer when her friends needed help taking care of Dawn and protecting the citizens who lived on the hellmouth? Angel had resources at his disposal. Why not send some to help if he couldn't leave LA? Or better yet, after Joyce died, why didn't Angel come to comfort her? Why didn't he share some of his resources to make her life easier if he loved her so much?
Yeah, Buffy was entirely messed up throughout season 6, but there are clear moments where it's obvious that she really feels something for Spike, and he's just trying to help her get out of the dark place she's in emotionally. Yes, Buffy abused Spike, and he just took it until he couldn't take any more and went WAY too far trying to get her to get past being scared of what her friends thought and be honest with herself.
Yet, the day (or two) after that attempted rape, Buffy's back at Spike's crypt, looking for him to take care of Dawn. If she's so scared of him, why go back to her aggressor's home to look for safety for the last surviving member of her family that she's close to?
By the end of season 7, Spike is Buffy's hero. He's been by her side, and she's saved him a few times as well. That kiss between Angel and Buffy is Buffy's way of going back to that time of innocence and naïvete about love and real life. There's really no chemistry between them as a couple at that point; their life's paths have placed them on roads that are too different.
okay i never said i hated buffy and spike.. i just believe that angel and buffy were much suited for each other.. and angel did come to comfort buffy when joyce died.. he comforted her the whole day of the funeral.. and as soon as spike got a soul, buffy treated him differently.. she didnt care for the things he did in the past after that cuz she believed he was a changed man.. i know there are A LOTTT of spuffy fans and some who are really crazy.. believe me, i used to be a spuffy fan.. but i went back and rewatched buffy again and angel and buffy just broke my heart and their story was so powerful that i just couldnt ship spike and buffy together
ReplyDeleteand honestly, sometimes i felt spike deserved better because buffy treated him like shit in season 6.. i dont think she had it in her to love someone else after angel.. and i agree that angel wasnt there for buffy most of the time and i really hate the writers for giving him his own show (which was also awesome)! but for me, buffy and angel were IT! but that's just me.. i usually love the tragic love stories..
Bottom line is, I can NOT and will NOT 'ship a couple where one literally DESTROYED the other's sexual self worth. THAT is abusive to me, especially when it's aimed at a sixteen year old girl who has never been in a serious relationship before. And, hate to say it, but broody men tend to bottle things up and are not good in a relationship because of that, regardless of what drivel like Twilight is selling.
ReplyDeleteAnd I never said you hated Buffy and Spike. However, I'm an English major, and one of the things that really annoys me about Angel's "Heroes' Path" is that there isn't one. He's not a hero. He's a broody vampire who was a pretty horrible human and a worse vampire, but now feels guilt.
Spike has a path, and a journey, and he follows it. He's the one who deserves to be loved.
I do get what you mean by tragic love stories, but remember, they always end badly (ie Romeo and Juliet's double suicide). I was a broody teen; believe me I remember wanting to know a love that deep. However, from an older perspective, that kind of "love" is really obsession and is very dangerous and damaging to the psyche. (No wonder my 2nd major is film with a focus in television.) ;)
In that case, it's an automatic Mulder/Scully win IMHO. They are the couple that literally created the terms UST and RST, and they are one of the original big time OTPs. Considering that I was a Spuffy fan when Buffy aired (I started 'shipping them in Season 2), and I only just came back to the show, and still see how much stronger and real the Spuffy relationship was, I'm going to stay and vote with my very first OTP.

ReplyDeleteits kinda sad that no one got a happy ending.. and i know that angelus was a horrible vampire but i dunno why but i really loved angelus.. maybe even more than angel.. and it was kinda cool that they had their own theme song that till this day still manages to make me cry =(
