Excellent news! Jensen's directing choices for Weekend at Bobby's were amazing. Spacial awareness and beat are so incredibly important. That's why I love Guy Bee's work, both Family Matters and Frontierland this season have been amazing for detail, lighting and cinematic more than you would ever expect from a small screen series.
As much as I love this, I would rather him not do it. This just means that it's gonna be another episode where he's shown as few as possible. This means, it's probably gonna be a Cas- and/or Bobby-centric episode. I love them, but it just means we get less of Sam/Dean time––which is what the show is essentially about.
i think every one wats to know is cas coming back because last episode Dean finelly told cas he was like a brother to him and if you watch promo for next episode he says "we were lke family once " Dean is going through the same thing with cas as he did with Sam some times I can't tell if cas is a big brother or little brother to dean. Because some times cas protects him and gives him information about angels and other times he acts like a naive child who knows nothing, ether way Dan really cares for him.
In some ways Cas is very much like a child learning about his world and in others is very much the grown up who has to teach Dean the truth about somethings.
I go back to the whole basis of the show, two brothers saving people, hunting things, the family business. Cas and Bobby are characters that I like and enjoy, but they are there to help the boys, they are not the center of the show. I don't want to see them die, but at the same time I won't stop watching the show if they do leave. It just means their story has come to an end. I am ok with that.
I agree with your comment, but I'm talking about the extremists that make the show about something that it wasn't originally intended to be. Which, I guess, isn't their fault, as the writers did write the other characters to be as if they're as important or more important than the lead characters.
I like Robert Singer's pitch for season 7-Sam and Dean against the world, a Butch and Sundance type season with everyone/thing after the boys. It sounds like my cup of tea.
If you want to put a note for the whole episode overall, yeah you're totally right, the script/story is reealllyyy important.
But the script is not all like in the Titanic episode I like many part of the story, but hated the REALLY close zoom 4-5 time in the same scene during the Bobby-Ellen talk 0.o.
Congratulations, Jensen! He must be so excited to get another opportunity to direct another episode. I saw in an interview recently that Jensen said that if he was considered and asked to direct another episode he would. Happy late Anniversary, too, Jensen! I hope you and Danneel have many happy years of wedded bliss together!
hope to see him directing a episode about castiel centric like he'd doing this season with bobby...that'll be great....bobby's episode was one of the best episode of the 7th season beginning...quick spoilers about 7th season...Lol...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Yes! So freaking happy right now. I absolutely loved Weekend At Bobby's and I can't wait to see Jensen direct again.
ReplyDeleteAlso yay, they're going back July 6th to film! I guess this one will be filmed first, just like Weekend at Bobby's.

ReplyDeleteThat depends on whether Cas and Bobby survive this season.
ReplyDeleteI thought this episode would be his second time directing?
ReplyDeleteTrue say. But, honestly, if they did, Supernatural would lose a lot of their *occult* followers.
ReplyDeletewoot :)
ReplyDeleteJensen did such a great job with "Weekend At Bobby's" I cannot wait to see what else he can do! :)

ReplyDeleteThat`s so awesome :)
ReplyDeleteit'll depend on the script, he really lucked out with 'Weekend' it was one of the better written episodes of the season.

ReplyDeleteCould be a Sam one too. I know Jensen said he was uncomfortable directing Jared, but he might not have a choice his second time around.

ReplyDeleteI try to stay away from the extremists.
