SpoilerTV on BBC Radio regarding recent Doctor Who Spoilers

11 May 2011

We were contacted yesterday by the BBC to see if we'd be interested in joining them for a discussion about the recent Doctor Who leaked spoilers and spoilers in general. Our Senior Editor Sandi was available for the call and you can listen to the interviews from the links below. (Note: These may be UK only I'm afraid)

Sandi will be doing another interview with the BBC later today and we'll add that to this post when it's available.

BBC Breakfast Interview (Interview is at the 2hr 13min mark)
BBC Scotland Interview (Interview is at the 2hr 47min mark)
BBC Coventry Interview (Interview is at the 2hr 17min mark)

  12. The people that want to read the spoilers/teasers will search for them on their own accord. I dont really believe that it is possible to accidently "stumble upon" spoilers.

  13. The point I was making in the third interview is that the BBC have ended up spoiling quite a few fans by releasing photos of the Doctor dying before the episode aired. So yes, it is very possible to accidently stumble across spoilers unfortunately. At least on a site like this people know what they are getting :)

  14. The doctor regenerating was in the newspaper (daily mirror I think) the day The Impossible Astronaut aired. It was on one of the first pages and although from a mix of spoilers and logical guessing I figured it was the Doctor who died, I'm sure that must of spoiled it for quite a few people who might not of even heard about their being a death in the episode.

  15. Indeed. And very good point about the Doctor dying. When I saw the photos on here I knew what the yellow-y mist was. Whilst it was my own fault for looking at the image, I reckon the minute percentage of the total audience that did see the image on here, as well as other fan pages, I'm sure they wouldnt have minded waiting to see that image in the episode and been suprised like everyone else.

Moffat has to realise that in an age where information is so easily accessible (both in terms of reading and broadcasting) that this sort of thing will happen. I agree with what you said on the 5live piece. Rather than the fans changing their attitude, I would say that any show/film that has a showing prior to general release should think about who they're inviting.

  16. That reporter in the first interview didn't take the unbiased BBC approach she is meant too... tut tut. However Sandi did well in the interviews.

  17. I'm having to be dense, but what "recent leaked spoilers"? Sure I missed something.

  18. There was a recent screening where press and few fans we invited. One
of the fans then wrote up the entire episode online.

  19. Oh right. Thanks for the intel :)

  20. Currently listening now, and I have to say the BBC interviewer disgusted me, they're meant to be unbiased, or at least try not to make it so damn obvious. I think Sandi did very well, and did this site proud.

  21. Totally agree, Sandi was very good.

  22. Cheers Luke, was a little nervous at first but it ended up being good fun :)
