Was a little skeptical because I thought it'd be like Glee, but she does have a really great voice and the description leaves it open for a possibly good story.
was skeptical when I heard about this one, but was more interested when I heard that Spielberg's name was attached to this, so I am def gonna check it out. Looking forward to see what they do with the premise..
I'm not a Glee fan (I am so not, I could even say I hate it) but this show looks great. There's not much I'm basing this assumption on, but I'm hopeful I'm right.
The photography is realistic, the wall behind the jury (including an actor whose talent was wasted on FlashForward, Jack Davenport) is decrepit and the transition between the room and the blue stage was well executed.
Plus Spielberg's involved, the singer can actually sing, it's not teen-oriented and there are no untalented actors waving, singing along like idiots or cheering on the side of the room.
Jack Davenport! He's one of my favourite actors ever! If you get a chance, check out the original UK version of Coupling (one of the funniest shows I have ever ever seen). It was written by Stephen Moffat (who is in charge of Doctor Who right now) and has Davenport as a lovable everyguy. It's such a change to then see him in Pirates of the Caribbean as the super serious commodore. He's got phenomenal range, I hear he's playing a homophobic homosexual who's ridiculously clever and sociopathic. That sounds awesome.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Looking great!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it's going to be brilliant!
