My guess is Prime Suspect and Smash are the two breakout "hits" of this crop... maybe Awake or The Firm.
Of the sitcoms Whitney and Up All Night look horrendous, but not far behind the rest. Only Free Agents looked like a possibility to get a pickup to me.
Awake definitely looks the best, Smash looks interesting, and Grimm looks rubbish from the promo/sneak peak thing they sent out but the concept sounds interesting, so I voted for Grimm despite the rubbish sneak peak.
Awake is by far the one I am most interested in too. I just don't have faith in the masses liking the surreal vs real psychodrama I guess. I think it would have been a perfect fit on Showtime or HBO and a nice successor to In Treatment..
Both "Whitney" and "Chelsea" prove they should just give the patent to the 3 camera comedy to Chuck Lorre and be done with it once and for all. Loving "Free Agents" (yay for Hank Azaria!) "Awake" is an interesting premise, but will it just degrade into a convoluted two world cop procedural, or be good enough to cancelled like "Journeyman"? "Prime Suspect" can either be great or ugh, but looked a little to "little tough girl in the boys club knows best" to me. Feel like I've seen it. "Grimm" looks like it wants to take "The Ghost Whisperer" through "Supernatural" territory, but all I heard was the cliche "Those stories were true" line. Feels more "Dark Skies" to me. With the exception of "BFF", which, at least character-wise, looked okay, I'm pretty indifferent to the rest.
You're right. I worry about the masses liking it too, but hopefully the cast will help in a big way and the pilot doesn't leap too far past the attention span of the casual viewers.
Best: Awake (hoping doesn't end up like The Event)Also interested in: Prime Suspect and possibly The Palyboy ClubWorst: All the comedy, especially Whitney and AYTV?
Awake and mmm Grimm i guess The Firm could be great but not much info yet will also check out Playboy, bent and Up all night out of curiousity / Samantha Who? nostalga
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Best: Awake. The story sounds interesting. Worst: All the others because I don't plan on watching any other new show of NBC.

ReplyDeleteI find it fitting that Whitney as twice as many votes for worst new show as total votes in the best show category for all series...
ReplyDeletewhy grimm looks rubbish?
ReplyDeleteAwake seems like the best with a good cast. I also voted for Playboy Club because I like seeing Jenna Dewan in things.
ReplyDeleteAwake is by far the one I am most interested in too. I just don't have faith in the masses liking the surreal vs real psychodrama I guess. I think it would have been a perfect fit on Showtime or HBO and a nice successor to In Treatment..

ReplyDeleteall of the above???

ReplyDeleteI can't stand the real Chelsea Handler; so why would I want to see a show based on her?
ReplyDeleteAwake looks great. Grimm looks like it could be good.
ReplyDeletePlayboy Club looks good because bewbs :)
Free Agents looks funny.
Everything else looks like it will not be watched by me :P
Best : Awake, Prime Suspect, Playboy, Smash, The Firm, Free Agents, Up All Light.
ReplyDeleteWorst : Grimm, Whitney, Are you There Vodka, Best Friends Forever, Bent.
I will watch the first 7, I won't watch the other 5 (I might watch the pilot of Grimm though).
Awake is by far the best, while Whitney (with that horrible laugh track) sounds the worst.

The Chelsea sitcom could be better if they remove the painful laughter track.
ReplyDeleteAwake looks incredible, Grimm too :)
