Culver City, CA - The sophomore season of TNT's hit series starring Jada Pinkett Smith comes to DVD June 7th when Sony Pictures Home Entertainment debuts HawthoRNe: The Complete Second Season. Pinkett Smith (Madagascar, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions), leads this inspiring drama in the role of Christina Hawthorne, a take-no-prisoners Chief Nursing Officer, who despite breaking the rules and challenging those around her, continues the daily struggle as a caring nurse and loving single mother.
The series also stars Michael Vartan (TV's "Alias") as the rigid and unyielding Dr. Tom Wakefield, and features Suleka Mathew (TV's "Men in Trees") and David Julian Hirsh (TV's "CSI"). The three-disc set will include all 10 episodes from the series' second season. Bonus features will include five behind-the-scenes featurettes that provide a closer look at the second season, its new cast members, the complexities of working on a medical show and more! Pinkett Smith also executive-produced the series along with creator John Masius (Emmy(R) winning writer for TV's "St. Elsewhere"), Glen Mazzara (TV's "The Shield"), Jamie Tarses (TV's "My Boys") and Miguel Melendez (The Human Contract).
SYNOPSIS:
Jada Pinkett Smith stars as Director of Nursing Christina Hawthorne. In Season Two, she defies enormous odds to rescue a heroin-addicted mother, confronts angry protestors to save a death row patient, and takes on the entire review board to keep the new hospital open. On the home front, Christina also fights to raise her rapidly maturing daughter, while deciding if she herself is ready for a closer relationship with the Chief of Surgery Dr. Wakefield (Michael Vartan, TV's "Alias").
