Grey's Anatomy - 7.20 - White Wedding - Review
6 May 2011
Grey's Anatomy ReviewsLast night saw the moment Callie and Arizona fans had been waiting for in "White Wedding".
For some reason, I had it in my head that the whole episode would be the wedding, so I was pleased when the episode turned out to be like a normal episode, just with a magical ending.
Callie and Arizona's families are helping them prepare for the wedding. Arizona's family refuse to accept that Mark is part of the family and Callie's mum refuses to hold her baby or accept that Callie is getting married to another woman. This is all too much for poor Callie and she tells her mum and dad to leave. If I remember correctly, it was her dad who had the issues in the past, not her mum, so I was quite surprised to see how accepting her dad was of everything. It was a very touching moment when her dad appeared at the end.
The wedding itself was beautiful and there should be more like it on television. Bailey conducted the ceremony after Callie's minister had to pull out. I have been bored of Callie and Arizona being shoved down our throats all season but I feel this episode was nicely done. Mark walking Callie down the aisle was definitely one of my favourite moments and I think it truly represented their friendship.
Back at the hospital, the race for Chief Resident is still on. Alex looks set to take the title after his good deed of bringing the African children over to help them receive vital medical treatment. Christina is doing her absolute hardest to get back on to Teddy's services but Teddy refuses to accept her apology and Christina misses out on an extraordinary surgery. Avery is stuck on the Chief's trial looking after mice. His dedication to the little creatures was certainly sweet.
On the Meredith front, Alex discovers she switched the drugs for Adele. Will he be able to keep his mouth shut? Probably not knowing Alex, let's be honest. But, in amazing Meredith and Derek news, they started the adoption process for one of the African babies, Zola, and she is gorgeous. I understand why some Meredith and Derek fans are a bit disappointed. Adoption is a beautiful thing and should definitely be addressed more on TV, but I will always wonder why this wasn't done with Callie and Arizona instead.
Finally, April and Stark. April grows on me more and more each episode. At the beginning of the season, I found her quite irritating but now she seems to be fitting in much better. I am really enjoying the storyline with Stark. As weird a pairing as it is, they do have chemistry, and Stark could do with someone like April in his life.
Overall, a very magical episode of the show which was enjoyable to watch. I hope the pace picks up a bit now for the final episodes of the season.
What did you guys think?
You would think after six years and seven seasons, you would know how to spell one of the most important character's first names. Yang's is spelt Cristina!
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for so long that Mark holds Arizona in his arms and that she accepts it !! I'm glad they finally wrote that scene. (Sorry about my english, I'm French...)
