CBS shows, Revenge and The New Girl leading new shows in international sales

24 May 2011

International sales for new shows have began and the results are surprising FOX's "The New Girl" is leading the comedy side with NBC's "Whitney" close behind, ABC's "Suburgatory," is also doing well as is CBS' "Two Broke Girls".

On ABC "Revenge" is the top seller with "Good Christian Belles," and "Scandel" also front-runners.

All three CBS Fall dramas, "Unforgettable", "Persons of Interest" and "A Gifted Man" are selling strong as is comedy "Two Broke Girls".

On FOX "The Finder." and "The X-Factor" are in the lead along with "The New Girl".

On NBC "Smash" , "Prime Suspect" and "Whitney" appear in the lead though overall NBC's pilots are not attracting much buzz.

Shows sold to Canada include "Revenge" "Pan Am" , "G.C.B." , "Whitney." "The X-Factor." "Scandal" "Terra Nova," "The Playboy Club" , Tim Allen comedy "Last Man Standing." "Alcatraz," "Person of Interest" and laffer "2 Broke Girls."

  1. Ew, Canada, Whitney? Really? Why would we do that!?

  2. This means very little honestly. Flash Forward and The Event had very large international sells and were cancelled in their first season.

It is interesting though that many of the series I find doomed to fail are getting good sales overseas. Ha!

  4. Good point!
I am glad both series I mentioned got full seasons.

  5. "A Gifted Man" is selling well?  That's surprising since the show looks terrible.  I'm shocked it was given the green light by CBS in the first place.

  6. If you don't mind me asking, what does it mean if we buy a show in Canada? We can just watch it here on FOX or NBC or CBS anyway, right?

  7. They are trying to soak up what is left of the Medium/Ghost Whisperer audience from Fridays.

  8. These are international sales so domestic scheduling probably has little to do with the bad taste displayed overseas.  :)

  9. I would think it's a Global/CTV and I suppose the other cable networks (i.e. Much Music airing CW shows, Comedy Network and so forth) to a lesser extent.
