Hope it's okay I added them to the page. Saw you uploaded the videos, but mentioned they weren't added to the main page yet. Wasn't sure if you were already enabled to post them on the main page.
And I agree, the opening sequence is great, HBO usually does a great job on them, a lot of them really stand out.
I did the test post right before I went to work yesterday and when I got back I amde an error and had to wait for Dark to sort me out once he got up... well and I got up hours after him. Technically I think I am still asleep. It is looking like a multiple mug of coffee morning....
It is just so awesome to tel lthe history of Westeros in one lil 100 second clip can show a person that the Dragon ruled with one engraved metal band. Then show that the Wolf and Stag Lords rebelled against the Dragon with a simple engraving.... and then later showing the crowned Stag with every other sigil kneeling to it. I love symbolism and well thought out bits.
Well often times I am up this late battling insomnia, but last night I went to sleep early... so to spite me my body woke up at 3.30am or so. You see my mind and my body are at some kind of civil war and rarely agree on anything.
For those interested. Week 3 ratings for Game of Thrones went UP!
"Despite the previous week’s untimely direwolf death that rankled some viewers, HBO’s Game of Thrones rose in the ratings for the first time Sunday night. The show’s Sunday’s 9 p.m. airing was seen by 2.4 million, up from the past two weeks’ 2.2 million.
Sunday night’s airings may have been impacted somewhat by Osama bin Laden’s death announcement on the West Coast, though the show had finished on the East Coast before the news leaked.
Combined with the 11 p.m. airing, the show climbed to 3.1 million viewers, well above the previous standard of 2.9 million. Meanwhile Thrones premiere episode has climbed up to 8.7 million viewers via all the HBO platforms."

The thing I like the most about them besides just looking awesome is that you learn something about the geography of Westeros. I suppose in the books R.R. Martin provided maps, but in the show it's always a bit hard to use/show this kind of information.
There are maps but on a small page it is hard to get scale. Plus the series provides a larger perspective. In one of the featurette interviews you see a map with Westeros on it and what looks like a number of other continents that are unknown in the books. Not sure if they added them or GRRM provided information to them and I have no clue if they come into play eventually since there are supposedly 3 books yet to be released in the series.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Love the Show open more n more on every viewing! The featurette just added to it...

ReplyDeleteIsn't it like 4 a.m. in the US right now? I like to get up early, but that's just too early.
