Fringe - Season Finale - Early Ratings News

7 May 2011

Fringe’s third season finale was down from last week to a 1.2 in the 18-49 rating.

We'll post the full ratings later when they come in.

50 comments:

  1. I don`t get it...this show is getting only better and better every week but the ratings are falling down at the same time.

And I don`t get that this show`s got a great devoted fan base that I forget sometimes that this show watches only about 3.6 milion people.

  2. Ratings almost never reflect the quality of the show, unfortunatly :/

    ReplyDelete
  3. Sadly, the majority of the fans aren't from the US and the antiquated ratings system that doesn't want to evolve doesn't help

    ReplyDelete
  4. Not going to let the bad ratings ruin the high I'm on after the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Completely embarrassing ratings for a fairly well advertised finale with a god damn trailer. This is disgusting. People just don't want to watch this show.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Woah, I love Fringe, but it must be on a very rare occasion that viewers are lost in the final episode of the series compared to the previous one?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Guys, stop lamenting. We got our season 4. Let Fox worry about ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Just wondering does anybody on here or do you know anyone that actually owns a Nielson box? I'm starting to think they're a myth...

    ReplyDelete
  9. There is no doubt that Season 4 will be the last.

    ReplyDelete
  10. most fans love the show but they "acquire" it which doesn't help the ratings

season 4 is the last and i hope we have 22 episodes not 12 or 16

  12. They should really rethink the way they do ratings, it's not really fair how us Canadians who watch FRINGE online on CityTV are excluded from the count. Lets just hope that the ratings improve next year and that we get a 5th season ;)

i like a 100th episode as die Series finale

  14. Well I`m not from the US either :-D. But to be honest I`ve never felt truly patriotic about country I come from.

This is not related to the show but I "like" when this happens:

Q: What`s the best country in the world?

    A: Good old USA

Q: How do you know? Have you been to England?

    A: No.

Q: Have you been to Japan?

    A: No.

Q: Have you been to Germany?

    A: No.

Q: Have you ever been abroad?

    A: No.

Q: So why do you think your country is the best when you`ve never been somewhere else?

A: Who are you to tell me what to think?

American fellas...don`t get mad at me. My country has a very similar problem, but that doesn`t mean it`s right to behave like this.

I like when something like music or a TV show connects people. Because then it`s all about what we have in common not what are our differences.

  15. Yeah people thought Season 3 would be the last and not only did they renew it, they renewed it right away for a full 22-episode season. We don't know if Fox only looks at Nielson ratings or not but since they renewed it so quickly, my guess is they know that the Nielson ratings do not remotely represent how many people actually watch the show. All I'm saying is have a little more faith. If we give up now then they might as well just cancel it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. But when you think about it, you can say this about everything. Because history showed us that when a great majority of people likes something it`s never the right thing.

It`s like in the school. Majority of students are average or below average. Only few of them are really good.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't get why people are so worried, if the producers aren't lying to us then despite the low ratings the Fox execs love Fringe

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hey people, watching live is the best thing, what could do people with Nielsen Box , but it ´s known that DVR numbers has been counted, I read , that Fringe ‘Lysergic Acid Diethylamide’ ratings up from 1.3 to 2.2 after DVR+7 days. And also Amazon and Itunes views have been counted. It ´s clear for us, that Fringe is a a special case, because, another serials with the same ratings wouldn ´t be renewed. But facts are that DVR numbers are high, people in Fox are devoted to Fringe, mainly K. Reilly and also support of us, of fans play big role. Fringe is a breakthrough is Tv serials, the quality of acting, sophisticated scenarios, positive appraising by critics, people around the world are buying DVDs. This all add to the value of serial, and I think Fox people and WB realise it, that the price of the serial in the future could by possibly high and in conclusion, I hope, that quality should play some role, not only money and don t forget, that Anna Torv is niece of Rupert Murdoch. But anyway this fact is not so important, because Anna is so talented actress and all fringe cast too,... and of course some of they deserve Emmy nomination :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Andrew, I share your opinion :), nut only money rule the world, that should be a space for quality too :)))

3.3 Million people watch the Finale

    ReplyDelete
  21. Let ´s wait for final number including DVR :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, it's summer time, so no one's watching much TV. Plus, well, Thor happened yesterday.

  23. The main slogan of the economy is: "get the best possible goods for the lowest possible prices."

That`s just bullshit. When is something cheap it`s usually crap. Cause cheap materials to make the product aren`t very good.

I`m a musician so I know that I can`t buy a good guitar for 100 bucks. I bought mine for 800 euro. And it`s the same with everything else. Money come first, then if it doesn`t stay in a way to get more money we can focus on quality

  25. But the first half of the season aired on Thursday right? I bet if it stayed on Thursday it would be cancelled and not renewed. It got renewed because it increased FOX`s rating on Friday about 40% or so. We have to wait what the next season will bring us

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah Gusto, I see , what about are you talking :), about quality, and quality costs more money,... I´have been just wondering, that some average serials as CSI(sorry for all fans of this type of show, but is my personal opinion) could have so huge ratings im comparison with fringe, and in this case earn more money, but it is not based on quality... but the numbers of viewers is determining factor, and as You had said: Where is it written that people are watching all of advertisemnet during the break?, that´s my point :))

    ReplyDelete
  27. Pretty funny is that we both are from the same country but we meet on a US forum :-D

    ReplyDelete
  28. Great point. Its that damn ethnocentrism, many of any country believing their country is the best because they live there and they don't take the time to find out anything new about other countries. I'm sort of like that, I may not go out of my way to find out stuff about other countries but I know that the US and every other country out there have their positives and negatives.

And I agree, I love it when something so relaxing as TV, music, anything really connects people no matter where they are. I believe Adam Harris had a great article awhile ago about that.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Lou As far as this US fan is concerned, we can no doubt make Fringe Thrive for Season FIVE. Yes, Let's stay positive, Fox needs us more than we need it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Based on what I know about A. D. Harris is that he`s like me in some way. He specializes on House and Fringe and makes reviews for Fringe (dunno about House) here on spoilertv. And he wants to be a screenwriter right?

Now, I consider House and Fringe as the best shows on TV at the moment (in a cathegory of drama series). I`m writing a screenplay but I`m not in a writers guild and I`m not gonna email it to networks or I don`t want to publish it as a book. I just wanna prove to myself that I can do it if I really want. And I`m not writing just some random crap, it`s a show with it`s own mythology but it`s not like fringe or lost. One thing is that networks wouldn`t even read it cause I`m not from the US and because I`m not in a writers guild.

And because I`m a very creative person I`m not satisfied with just anything. I`m a musician too and I learned on writing songs that I can`t go out with a shit and expect people to like it. So I constantly work on myself and my abilietes.

And I think every creative person has a lot in common with another creative person. I can`t describe it in words maybe someone can.

And if I was wrong about Adam Harris I`m sorry and if I was right I wish him good luck in his writing career. We have a similar taste so I expect I`m gonna like his work

  31. They deserve winning Emmy not just to be nominated :-D

  32. Ah, now this makes me kinda sad... But I'm not going to let it ruin my mood... Come on Fringies, lets rally together to make next year even better!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't really care bout ratings normally because we already got our season 4 (yay!) But I hate the way they do ratings.. its just stupid! I have 5 people living in my house and we all LOVE fringe and watch it togetger ever friday night but we don't have a nielson box.. /:

    ReplyDelete
  34. I dislike the ratings.
No time to rest. Keep promoting the show. Invite friends and have Fringe parties. WB sells t-shirts online, buy one and wear it. I'm going to redo my car and keep promoting it that way.
Fringies we have the summer to catch up and recruit new soldiers and first they might seem unwilling but what was written will come to pass: Season 4!

    Fringe rules!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Personally I enjoyed this episode too many good shows loose out because their ratings dont make the criteria that the networks want sometimes im glad that fringe has been picked up its a good show but its had bad ratings

    ReplyDelete
  36. I can only speak for me, but I have lived in or visited each country that you mentioned, and I still say that my country, the U.S, is the best. It is all relative though, and I never knock anyone for believing that their nation is better, unless I have real issues with their government. The networks only care about U.S. ratings because of advertisements. Still, within my country, we need to figure out a better system. The Nielsen system just doesn't work. Period

    ReplyDelete
  39. Does it matter? I`m just making a point.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don`t think you spent a lot of time in those countries. But this is not just about countries I mentioned. This is about every country in the world. And I don`t get that arrogance of people in the US. You don`t even know where all your high standard of living comes from.

And with those advertisements. Those product are sold in EU too. Those products are sold all over the world. Yeah the Nielsen system is bad but no one wants to do anything about it. People are watching TV less and less because of advertisements. And because they can`t make it in time to watch it LIVE they have to DVR it and by that their vote is no loger as valuable as the LIVE one.

  41. I know him...he`s awesome :-D.

  42. i'm affraid so, but it's ok. 4 season is not that bad. 5 or 6 is ideal, though. no more than 6 because it gets old (with exceptions -eg. friends, which was fantastic till the last episode-). i wish we could get a 5th last season, but if we don't it's fine as long as we get closure!! no cliffhanger, please. think about what would have happened if it hadn't been renewed for a 4th season and we had been left to deal with this cliffhanger!!! i would have killed myself! i know pinkner and wyman have said many times that setting in advance an end date as it was done with lost, is not right for fringe because they have a number of chapters in mind that they expect to tell and they'd rather keep going until thay were cancelled. i guess that would be perfect if the situation were better. but given the circumstances, i reckon they'd do us all -and themselves- a favour if they sacrified a few of those chapters and just tried to sign for 5 seasons. just not a cliffhanger in the series finale, PLEASE!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Talk about arrogance. How do you know if I understand where our high standard of living comes from, or if I have spent a lot of time in those nations. I lived in two of those nations for over a year, separately. You also completely missed my point on the networks. I hate the way they do things, but it IS how they do them.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Watch that video Shaun McCarthy posted under my post.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The show doesn't have syndication. It won't until all 22 episodes of season 4 are aired and other networks come forward to FOX with an offer of syndication...

I think they should just use season 4 to be its last season and just fill it up with as much storyline as possible...It's not getting a season 5...not with ratings like that.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think episodes 3.11 through 3.13 killed the momentum for whatever ratings we had because while there were some answers littered in those episodes, it was just not paced well at all...

    ReplyDelete
  47. numbersarebad9 May 2011 at 02:16

It seems like people no longer cared as much about supporting the show once they found out it was renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sadly Ratings only concern the television broadcasting of the show in the U.S If there was a ratings system including every possible "source" of watching FRINGE worldwide, Fox Would be really proud to know that has the Top rated Tv Series of the globe.

For instance in my Country (Greece) FRINGE is considered as one of the most sofisticated sci-fi tv series ever and lots of "Lost-dissapointed" fans find comfort into the developement of the Show.

As for The Cast, John Noble is considered as one of the Best Actors Ever and regarding his performance throughout season 3 it will be a shame not to get at least an Emmy Nomination!

    ReplyDelete
  49. for all sceptic fans:

    Fringe '6:02AM EST' jumps from 1.2 to 2.0 after DVR+7. That's 67% increase.!!!
